An Improved Structure for Academic Information Services through AI Chatbots

Academic information service is the most critical factor that must be considered in a university. Service quality is an important indicator affecting all academics’ satisfaction and loyalty. Improvement of information services on campus has been a lot of research focusing on academics. Meanwhile, the software aspect has received less attention. Researchers have previously discussed information service frameworks but have not accommodated future needs. Software that must be considered can quickly respond to the user, one of which is a chatbot. Chatbots can be used to solve problems related to question-and-answer services, especially for academic institutions that do not have specific resources to handle this work. With chatbots, redundant user questions can be handled automatically. Chatbots are increasingly being offered as an alternative source of customer service. For a user to use a chatbot for this purpose, the user must trust the chatbot to provide the necessary support. To overcome this knowledge gap, a framework can integrate software, stakeholders, and academics in higher education. Therefore it is necessary to conduct new research to help answer future needs. © 2023 School of Science, IHU. All rights reserved.

The field of video games is of great interest to researchers in computational intelligence due to the complex, rich and dynamic nature they provide. We propose using Genetic Programming with coevolution and lexicographic fitness to generate an agent that plays the Bomberman™game. We investigate two sets of Genetic Programming building blocks: one contains conditions relative to movement, and the other does not. We aim to see whether the benefits of these movement-related conditions outweigh the negatives caused by increased search space size. The integration of machine learning with augmented reality (AR) is vital for traditional batik preservation, especially in real-time pattern recognition. Traditional AR applications often rely on external servers, increasing latency and reducing interaction fluidity. This paper presents real-time batik pattern recognition using quantized TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) in a mobile AR application. Using the Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) architecture with quantization, model size is reduced by 75%, while maintaining 96% accuracy, 0.06 seconds inference time, and 46 frames per second (FPS). Compared to YOLO, which achieves 93% accuracy and 40 FPS, TFLite offers faster inference and reduced computational load, making it ideal for mobile AR. By embedding TFLite into an AR platform, users can interact with batik patterns in real-time without server reliance. This research shows that quantized TFLite enhances mobile AR performance, balancing speed, accuracy, and efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

In information visualization, the position of symbols often encodes associated data values. When visualizing data elements with both a numerical and a categorical dimension, positioning in the categorical axis admits some flexibility. This flexibility can be exploited to reduce symbol overlap, and thereby increase legibility. In this paper we initialize the algorithmic study of optimizing symbol legibility via a limited displacement of the symbols. Specifically, we consider unit square symbols that need to be placed at specified y-coordinates. We optimize the drawing order of the symbols as well as their x-displacement, constrained within a rectangular container, to maximize the minimum visible perimeter over all squares. If the container has width and height at most 2, there is a point that stabs all squares. In this case, we prove that a staircase layout is arbitrarily close to optimality and can be computed in O(n log n) time. If the width is at most 2, there is a vertical line that stabs all squares, and in this case, we give a 2-approximation algorithm (assuming fixed container height) that runs in O(n log n) time. As a minimum visible perimeter of 2 is always trivially achievable, we measure this approximation with respect to the visible perimeter exceeding 2. Sequential recommendation aims to identify and recommend the next few items of users' interest. It becomes an effective tool to help users select their favorite items from a variety of options. A key challenge in sequential recommendation is to learn the patterns and dynamics, which are most pertinent to inform future interactions of users. With the prosperity of deep learning, many deep models, particularly based on recurrent neural networks [1] and with attention mechanisms [2] , [3] , have been developed for sequential recommendation purposes. However, our analysis demonstrates that, these deep models, particularly those with attention mechanisms, may not always learn meaningful attention weights from the extremely sparse recommendation data, and thus, could degrade the recommendation performance. Therefore, in this study, instead of deep models, we develop novel, effective and efficient hybrid associations models (HAM) to better learn from the sparse and limited recommendation data. Traffic violations are still the biggest problem in the development of traffic in Indonesia. The three biggest violations are (1) running a red light, accounting for 42% of violations, (2) not wearing a helmet, accounting for 23% of violations, and (3) violating traffic signs, accounting for 9% of violations. The violation of not wearing a helmet is the second largest violation in Indonesia, which is due to the lack of awareness of safety while driving. Additionally, the supervision carried out by the security forces is also somewhat inadequate. Supervision is only conducted in certain areas, leading to a high number of violations. To address these issues, the YOLOS (You Only Look at Once Sequence) model, using Vision Transformer and Pytorch, was developed with the assistance of the AI City Challenge 2023 dataset. This model, trained for 200 epochs, is capable of detecting riders who wear helmets and those who do not. It achieves average precision and average recall values for objects with large area coverage in the precision and recall curves (large area), namely 38.8% and 57.2%, and on average precision with an IoU parameter of 0.5, obtaining a value of 63.5%. The implementation of the model in the Streamlit framework to create a system that can be used for detection was successfully completed. The system is capable of performing detection on a single image, webcam video, and video from RTSP CCTV. © 2024 IEEE.

Disentangling Prosody Representations With Unsupervised Speech Reconstruction

Human speech can be characterized by different components, including semantic content, speaker identity and prosodic information. Significant progress has been made in disentangling representations for semantic content and speaker identity in speech recognition and speaker verification tasks respectively. However, it is still an open challenging question to extract prosodic information because of the intrinsic association of different attributes, such as timbre and rhythm, and because of the need for supervised training schemes to achieve robust speech recognition. The aim of this article is to address the disentanglement of emotional prosody based on unsupervised reconstruction. Specifically, we identify, design, implement and integrate three crucial components in our proposed model Prosody2Vec: (1) a unit encoder that transforms speech signals into discrete units for semantic content, (2) a pretrained speaker verification model to generate speaker identity embeddings, and (3) a trainable prosody encoder to learn prosody representations. We first pretrain Prosody2Vec on unlabelled emotional speech corpora, then fine-tune the model on specific datasets to perform Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) and Emotional Voice Conversion (EVC) tasks. Both objective and subjective evaluations on the EVC task suggest that Prosody2Vec effectively captures general prosodic features that can be smoothly transferred to other emotional speech. In addition, our SER experiments on the IEMOCAP dataset reveal that the prosody features learned by Prosody2Vec are complementary and beneficial for the performance of widely used speech pretraining models and surpass the state-of-the-art methods when combining Prosody2Vec with HuBERT representations. The development of technology, especially the use of resources provided by artificial intelligence (AI), has advanced in areas where business is gaining importance and is an important fear of economic growth. This raises the question of how this progress has and will continue to influence the future work of designers. What skills do designers need to enter or stay in this industry? The purpose of this article is to provide a summary of research findings on the impact of intelligence on the performance of designers, as well as an analysis that includes an evaluation of the potential and benefits of intelligent design solutions. Case studies and other scientific studies are used to analyze the applications and benefits of AI-based solutions.
