A Blockchain-Assisted Distributed Edge Intelligence for Privacy-Preserving Vehicular Networks

The enormous volume of heterogeneous data fromvarious smart device-based applications has growingly increased a deeply interlaced cyber-physical *** order to deliver smart cloud services that require low latency with strong computational processing capabilities,the Edge Intelligence System(EIS)idea is now being employed,which takes advantage of Artificial Intelligence(AI)and Edge Computing Technology(ECT).Thus,EIS presents a potential approach to enforcing future Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS),particularly within a context of a Vehicular Network(VNets).However,the current EIS framework meets some issues and is conceivably vulnerable tomultiple adversarial attacks because the central aggregator server handles the entire ***,this paper introduces the concept of distributed edge intelligence,combining the advantages of Federated Learning(FL),Differential Privacy(DP),and blockchain to address the issues raised *** performing decentralized data management and storing transactions in immutable distributed ledger networks,the blockchain-assisted FL method improves user privacy and boosts traffic prediction ***,DP is utilized in defending the user’s private data from various threats and is given the authority to bolster the confidentiality of data-sharing *** model has been deployed in two strategies:First,DP-based FL to strengthen user privacy by masking the intermediate data during model ***,blockchain-based FL to effectively construct secure and decentralized traffic management in vehicular *** simulation results demonstrated that our framework yields several benefits for VNets privacy protection by forming a distributed EIS with privacy budget(ε)of 4.03,1.18,and 0.522,achieving model accuracy of 95.8%,93.78%,and 89.31%,respectively.

This study proposes methods that can be used to examine and interpret comments that users have made after watching videos on YouTube on a particular topic. YouTube tutorials are very popular among young people. They have become an important pillar in informal education, thus contributing to the rapid acquisition of skills and knowledge. Under these circumstances, we were interested in analysing the YouTube videos comments, knowing that the platform has a continuous increase in popularity, which is also due to the opportunities of sharing them. Since ChatGPT-themed YouTube videos have seen a significant surge in popularity since 2022, we were interested to analyse some videos that approach the topics of 'ChatGPT, AI clone, AI robot and Deep Learning.' © 2024 IEEE.

Osteoporosis (OP) is an osteometabolic disorder characterized by a lesser bone mineral density (BMD) and the disruption of bone tissue micro—architecture, resulting in a greater bone fragility and higher likelihoods of fractures. OP emerges once the bone mass declines faster than the body's capacity to replenish it, leading to a significant reduction in the strength of bone. OP impacts each and every bone throughout the body and provides no clinical signs until a fracture happens. Aging leads to the reduction in BMD, and the rate of percentage of fractures rises over time, usually causing mortality and morbidity. Numerous BMD evaluation methods are available, and they are used in a variety of settings by considering the location of the fracture. Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA/DXA) is recognized as the gold standard for predicting the fracture, since it is the most advanced, technologically affirmed, and also has excellent performance. According to the findings, most researchers do not endeavour the identification and the segmentation of low bone masses from DEXA images. Medical image segmentation supports in analyzing and visualizing the bone's low bone mass. The envisaged hybrid approach, that integrates GLCM for feature extraction and AlexNet for a low bone mass variation classification, provides segmented images that assist in categorizing bone health as normal, osteopenia, or osteoporosis. The developed algorithm's performance metrics, including Dice Co-efficient, Sensitivity, and Specificity, were 92.35, 90.26, and 92.42%, respectively. More than 1.3 billion people have a significant disability, and this figure will further increase due to the ageing population and various diseases. Including these people in daily life offers stakeholders significant social and economic benefits. Travel and tourism experiences are essential for disabled people. Providing fully accessible tourism-related services in all tourism chain activities through the adoption of advanced technologies encourages disabled people to travel more and enjoy higher-quality tourism services. This issue was discussed in an online focus group with the participation of disabled people and experts (n = 12). Helpful information was collected in response to the study’s objective. The study’s participants agreed that advanced digital technologies significantly facilitate the travel and tourism experience of disabled people. All parts of the tourism chain should adopt these technologies, and in this direction, the close collaboration and coordination of all stakeholders are required. Governmental organisations should have a key role in promoting the adoption of digital technologies that facilitate the travel and tourism experience of disabled people. Those countries that provide appropriate services to disabled people through digital technologies acquire significant benefits, and Greece should invest more in this direction. Intelligent supply line surveillance is critical for modern smart grids (SGs). Smart sensors and gateway nodes are strategically deployed along supply lines to achieve intelligent surveillance. They collect data continuously and transmit it to the control centre in real-time. It enables real-time monitoring, fault detection, and efficient energy management across distribution networks. This advanced surveillance system ensures continuous monitoring of supply lines, detecting anomalies, and optimizing operations to maintain the stability and reliability of the SG. However, the reliance of all participating nodes on public communication channels to transmit supply line surveillance data exposes these systems to critical cyber attacks. These cyber attacks include impersonation, physical tampering, ephemeral secret leakage (ESL), and desynchronization attacks. To address these issues, existing key-exchange protocols often fail to ensure robust security while imposing high computation and communication overheads, limiting their practicality for resource-constrained environments. Therefore, we propose a secure and efficient key exchange and tamper-resistant authentication protocol using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) and physical unclonable functions (PUFs). The PUF mechanism provides robust resistance against physical tampering and cloning attacks, ensuring enhanced physical security for supply line devices. We validate the security robustness of the devised protocol using the random or real (ROR) model. Furthermore, informal security analysis demonstrates the protocol’s robustness in rigorously resisting various attacks, including physical tampering, impersonation, ESL and desynchronization. Moreover, we determine the performance evaluation that reveals the protocol’s superior efficiency compared to competing protocols, achieving significant reductions of 28.64% in computation overhead and 9.96% in communication overhead. © 2014 IEEE.

Effective manpower planning is crucial for any organization, including universities, as it directly influences performance, productivity, and overall success. Inefficient recruitment processes can lead to increased costs, higher turnover rates, and suboptimal utilization of human resources, negatively impacting the institution's ability to achieve its goals and maintain a competitive advantage. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive digital solution to streamline and enhance recruitment and manpower planning processes, replacing traditional manual methods. This paper presents the Recruitment and Manpower Planning System, an innovative web-based platform designed using Extreme Programming (XP) methodologies. The system integrates modern programming tools such as Visual Studio Code, Laragon, Laravel 9, and MySQL, and utilizes Unified Modelling Language (UML) for precise system design. A mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative data from structured questionnaires administered to 500 users, informed the system's design. Data analysis indicates a 40% reduction in recruitment time, a 35% increase in successful job placements, and a 90% user satisfaction rate. Rigorous testing phases ensured system accuracy and quality. This digital solution not only optimizes recruitment processes but also provides a robust prototype for future advancements in manpower planning systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In modern agriculture, the capability to promptly detect and respond to specific events is crucial. This study centres on the transformative potential of TinyML for enhancing event detection in Smart Agriculture, particularly when integrated with LoRa-based Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In this work, we underscore the unique advantages of utilizing TinyML at the edge-bypassing the latency and overhead associated with cloud-centric models and ensuring immediate, on-site analytical insights. Employing LoRa WSNs as the backbone provides a seamless, low-power, and expansive data communication framework. Detailed experiments demonstrate TinyML's efficacy in accurately predicting agricultural events while reducing computational and energy consumption. In conclusion, the synergy between TinyML and LoRa WSNs offers a promising approach for fine-tuned, real-time event detection, aiming for sustainable and high-yield agricultural practices. © 2023 IEEE.

Older adults often struggle to meet their psychological needs due to retirement and living alone. Recent studies suggest that games featuring emotional challenge (EC) can help fulfill basic psychological needs such as autonomy, competence, and relatedness by facilitating emotional exploration. However, it remains unclear whether older adults can benefit from EC games, whether they find this genre enjoyable, and how these games should be designed to better meet their needs. This work explores older adults' experiences and perceptions of playing EC games through two studies. The first study involved playing Detroit: Become Human, revealing that older adults derived multifaceted psychological experiences from playing the game. The second study involved a custom-designed game scenario tailored to older adults, demonstrating that meaningful choices significantly influenced autonomy need satisfaction. Based on these findings, we offer five design guidelines for developing EC games that satisfy psychological needs of older adults. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Decarbonization of energy generation is required to address the urgent need to combat climate change and meet the Paris Agreement targets. Photovoltaic Systems (PVS) are a major contributor to this solution, and they are expected to grow significantly faster than any other renewable-energy technology in the coming years due to their appealing features. This paper discusses the development of a two-way communication protocol between two transceivers and a custom-designed communication board installed on each PV array. With this configuration, it is possible to transmit the measurements of each PV cell in the array to a data recording and monitoring service. Additionally, the application can customize the operation of the strings that make up the array, by broadcasting special commands to them. A prototype experimental setup was constructed in order to test the communication between the PV array communication board and the uplink/downlink transceivers. The experimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed communication protocol between the Electronics Interface System (EIS) and the Smart PV array since the communication protocol meets the specification for transmitting the information from 1000 smart PV cells within one minute, as well as the strict timing requirements by the protocol for transmitting the parameters to the PV strings. © 2022 ACM.
