Recommendation systems can provide accurate recommendations by analyzing user shopping history. A richer user history results in more accurate recommendations. However, in real applications, users prefer e-commerce platforms where the item they seek is at the lowest price. In other words, most users shop from multiple e-commerce platforms simultaneously;different parts of the user's shopping history are shared between different e-commerce platforms. Consequently, we assume in this study that any e-commerce platform has a complete record of the user's history but can only access some parts of it. If a recommendation system is able to predict the missing parts first and enrich the user's shopping history properly, it will be possible to recommend the next item more accurately. Our recommendation system leverages user shopping history to improve prediction accuracy. The proposed approach shows significant improvements in both NDCG@10 and HR@10. Malware detection plays a crucial role in ensuring robust cybersecurity amidst the ever-evolving cyber threats. This research paper delves into the realm of machine learning (ML) algorithms for malware detection, with a specific emphasis on the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm, utilizing tailored parameter settings and the Firefly Optimization Algorithm (FOA). The study leverages the MalMem-2022 dataset to assess the efficacy of KNN and KNN with FOA in malware detection. The impact of parameter tuning and feature selection on classification is elucidated by comparing the performance of both approaches. Encouragingly, the results reveal promising advancements in one of the multiclass classification scenarios when employing KNN with FOA, yielding noteworthy enhancements in Accuracy, Recall, Precision, Matthews Correlation Coefficient, TNR, and F1-score by 2.65%, 2.65%, 2.47%, 3.59%, 0.17%, and 2.61%, respectively. These findings accentuate the significance of optimizing KNN’s parameters and implementing FOA for feature selection, culminating in heightened accuracy in malware detection. The symbiotic fusion of KNN and FOA exhibits remarkable effectiveness in augmenting the classification model’s performance, thus offering valuable insights for bolstering cybersecurity measures. Adopting ML algorithms, particularly KNN with specific parameter settings and FOA, presents a promising avenue for enhancing malware detection capabilities. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Radio-Frequency (RF)-based Human Activity Recognition (HAR) rises as a promising solution for applications unamenable to techniques requiring computer visions. However, the scarcity of labeled RF data due to their non-interpretable nature poses a significant obstacle. Thanks to the recent breakthrough of foundation models (FMs), extracting deep semantic insights from unlabeled visual data become viable, yet these vision-based FMs fall short when applied to small RF datasets. To bridge this gap, we introduce FM-Fi, an innovative cross-modal framework engineered to translate the knowledge of vision-based FMs for enhancing RF-based HAR systems. FM-Fi involves a novel cross-modal contrastive knowledge distillation mechanism, enabling an RF encoder to inherit the interpretative power of FMs for achieving zero-shot learning. It also employs the intrinsic capabilities of FM and RF to remove extraneous features for better alignment between the two modalities. The framework is further refined through metric-based few-shot learning techniques, aiming to boost the performance for predefined HAR tasks. Comprehensive evaluations evidently indicate that FM-Fi rivals the effectiveness of vision-based methodologies, and the evaluation results provide empirical validation of FM-Fi's generalizability across various environments. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).

Prerequisite learning is the task of identifying prerequisite relations among concepts, which is important for many ai-based educational applications. Previous approaches explore different kinds of learning resources to obtain useful features for predicting prerequisites. Early approaches use handcrafted features while recent approaches use neural networks to encode information of concepts. To further improve the results of prerequisite learning, we build concept graphs to include comprehensive information about concepts from open data and learning resources, and propose a Multi-view Transformer-based Network (MTN) to encode multi-view features of concepts in the graph. Multi-view features are fused to make accurate predictions of concept prerequisites. We evaluate our approach on four public datasets and compare it with recently published approaches. The results show that our approach can achieve state-of-the-art results in the task of prerequisite learning. I have studied how artificial intelligence (ai) or machine learning (ML) is applied in a sustainable system called "Eugenie"for my work, project, and thesis. In this project, I get to discuss Eugenie's role in ensuring the sustainability of large environmental business organizations. I also get to discuss how it aids operation managers in making predictions about when their machines will break down days, weeks, and months in advance, allowing them to schedule maintenance cycles more effectively. In other words, Eugenie provides plant operators with data so they can prioritize repairs. Eugenie executes this process by utilizing real-time data from numerous sensors attached to large machinery and equipment in the process industry, metals and mining, oil and gas, and smart cities industries. Two products make up this program;the first is named RAY-FINN and the second is called PAPILLON. Eugenie assists businesses in a variety of ways, including:•aids in the attainment of operational excellence by process organizations•Always raise overall profitability.•Contributes to a greener and safer future. © 2023 IEEE.

This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the methods used to integrate genomic and clinical data in cancer prediction. The review includes 19 studies across various cancers, including breast, colorectal, melanoma, lung, pancreatic, and thyroid. The studies employed different methods to combine genomic and clinical data, including weighted polygenic risk scores, genetic and non-genetic risk scores, and different machine learning algorithms. The results show significant improvements in model prediction performance accuracy across multiple studies. The review highlights the potential benefits of integrating genetic and phenotypic information to improve disease risk prediction models and inform personalized healthcare strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

Multiview clustering has wide real-world applications because it can process data from multiple sources. However, these data often contain missing instances and noises, which are ignored by most multiview clustering methods. Missing instances may make these methods difficult to use directly, and noises will lead to unreliable clustering results. In this article, we propose a novel autoweighted noisy and incomplete multiview clustering (ANIMC) approach via a soft autoweighted strategy and a doubly soft regular regression model. First, by designing adaptive semiregularized nonnegative matrix factorization, the soft autoweighted strategy assigns a proper weight to each view and adds a soft boundary to balance the influence of noises and incompleteness. Second, by proposing θ-norm, the doubly soft regularized regression model adjusts the sparsity of our model by choosing different θ. Compared with previous methods, ANIMC has three unique advantages: 1) it is a soft algorithm to adjust our approach in different scenarios, thereby improving its generalization ability;2) it automatically learns a proper weight for each view, thereby reducing the influence of noises;3) it performs doubly soft regularized regression that aligns the same instances in different views, thereby decreasing the impact of missing instances. Extensive experimental results show its superior advantages over other state-of-the-art works. © 2020 IEEE.

Vehicular network technology has made substantial advancements in recent years in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) has emerged as a novel paradigm with a substantial increase in data exchange within Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). VCC integrates cloud computing, vehicular networking, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. It enables Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), and Vehicle-to-Device (V2D) communication. VCC optimizes vehicle, cloud infrastructure, and IoT resources while addressing significant communication security and vehicle-user privacy challenges. To address these issues, we developed an RFID-based authentication protocol for VCC based on a Henon map using a hash function. In addition, we also incorporated a Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) to resist physical tampering attacks. We validate the protocol's security formally and informally. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used RoR model. We use the Scyther simulation tool to verify the proposed protocol's security against various attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of our protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters such as communication and computation overheads and security attributes. The proposed protocol yields substantial improvements, demonstrating a 40.74% reduction in computation overhead and a 13.03% decrease in communication overhead as compared to related protocols, delivering both enhanced performance and resource efficiency. The analysis demonstrates its capacity to support secure communication in the VCC environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2024 IEEE.
