Consortium blockchains, with their decentralized characteristics, have found widespread applications across various industries. However, this also forms isolated data islands. These data islands have become obstacles to data sharing between industries, and the issue of cross-chain data consistency verification remains unresolved. Current mainstream cross-chain technologies solve asset transfer issues through complex transaction steps, thus failing to meet the need for efficient data transmission. Existing research has proposed solutions for cross-chain data consistency verification, but two major issues remain. Firstly, these schemes do not consider data changes or support data dynamic operations. Secondly, these schemes involve a significant amount of complex computations, leading to slow efficiency. To address the above issues, we propose dataJudge, a cross-chain data consistency verification scheme based on an extended Merkle hash tree. This scheme not only verifies cross-chain data consistency but also effectively fills the gap in existing schemes regarding dynamic operations. Additionally, we modify the paillier homomorphic encryption. To improve efficiency, we do not introduce many complex computations. Furthermore, the extended Merkle hash tree structure enhances efficiency. Finally, we implement a prototype system and evaluate it. The results demonstrate that dataJudge can effectively verify cross-chain data consistency and outperform existing schemes such as DCIV and BeDCV. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This study proposes a new prairie dog optimization algorithm version called EPDO. This new version aims to address the issues of premature convergence and slow convergence that were observed in the original PDO algorithm. To improve performance, several modifications are introduced in EPDO. First, a dynamic opposite learning strategy is employed to increase the diversity of the population and prevent premature convergence. This strategy helps the algorithm avoid falling into local optima and promotes global optimization. Additionally, the Lévy dynamic random walk technique is utilized in EPDO. This modified Lévy flight with random walk reduces the algorithm’s running time for the test function’s ideal value, accelerating its convergence. The proposed approach is evaluated using 33 benchmark problems from CEC 2017 and compared against seven other comparative techniques: GWO, MFO, ALO, WOA, DA, SCA, and RSA. Numerical results demonstrate that EPDO produces good outcomes and performs well in solving benchmark problems. To further validate the results and assess reliability, the authors employ average rank tests, the measurement of alternatives, and ranking according to the compromise solution (MARCOS) method, as well as a convergence report of EPDO and other algorithms. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the EPDO algorithm is demonstrated by applying it to five design problems. The results indicate that EPDO achieves impressive outcomes and proves its capability to address practical issues. The algorithm performs well in solving benchmark and practical design problems, as supported by the numerical results and validation methods used in the study. © The Author(s) 2024.

In response to legislation, companies are now mandated to honor the right to be forgotten by erasing user data. Consequently, it has become imperative to enable data removal in Vertical Federated Learning (VFL), where multiple parties provide private features for model training. In VFL, data removal, i.e., machine unlearning, requires removing specific features across all samples, ensuring privacy in federated learning. To address this challenge, we propose SecureCut, a novel Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT) framework that effectively enables both instance unlearning and feature unlearning without the need for retraining from scratch. Leveraging a robust GBDT structure, we enable effective data deletion while reducing degradation of model performance. Extensive experimental results on popular datasets demonstrate that our method achieves superior model utility and forgetfulness compared to the state-of-the-art methods. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that investigates machine unlearning in VFL scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The Smart Power Grid (SPG) is pivotal in orchestrating and managing demand response in contemporary smart cities, leveraging the prowess of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Within the immersive SPG environment, the ubiquitous deployment of smart meters stands as a testament to their paramount importance in the realm of vigilant monitoring and oversight. These smart meters are installed on high-tension electricity lines and transmit information about electricity outages and other issues to the utility center. To access services from utility centers, smart meters need to communicate securely over a public channel, even though the network itself is insecure. However, potential attacks from adversaries ( Ad) can exploit this communication. Therefore, protecting this communication is of utmost importance. Several privacy-preserving authentication protocols designed for SPG have been introduced in the literature. Nevertheless, a significant number of these protocols exhibit vulnerabilities to diverse security attacks. This article introduces a lightweight and anonymous authentication protocol specifically designed to address these concerns in the SPG environment. Our protocol ensures both security and efficiency, surpassing other comparable protocols in terms of its lightweight nature. By employing both formal and informal analysis, we showcase the robustness of our protocol against significant attacks while remaining lightweight. The proposed protocol provides added security features and incurs 23.8879% lower computation cost than related protocols. Consequently, our protocol is highly suitable for implementation in the SPG system. © 2020 IEEE.

With the rapid advancement of blockchain technology, its utilization has become widespread across various domains, resulting in the accumulation of significant volumes of valuable data. This trend has created an increasing demand for efficient querying of blockchain data. However, the inherent structure of blockchain leads to low querying efficiency and limited support for complex queries. Therefore, there is a trend toward migrating data to off-chain storage for querying purposes. The untrustworthy nature of the off-chain environment necessitates data validation. However, existing validation schemes incur high costs and fail to ensure the timely updating of the off-chain data. To address the challenges above, we propose ChainSafari, a general, efficient, and real-time synchronized scheme for verifiable querying on the blockchain. In our scheme, we design a general data model for storing transactions of various blockchains and develop an efficient authenticated data structure (ADS) based on this data model, enabling efficient verifiable queries for multiple data types in parallel. Furthermore, we propose a multi-party synchronization detection and recovery protocol to ensure the consistency of on-chain and off-chain data. Finally, we implement a prototype system of ChainSafari and conduct extensive experiments. Code-switching is a common mode of language expression, which means that two or more languages are used interchangeably in a conversation. At present, the development of such code-switching technology in the field of speech recognition research is still limited by insufficient training corpus of text, which affects the system performance. This paper will use a neural network to train a generator to generate code-switching text to expand the corpus to achieve the purpose of improving the mixed recognition rate of Chinese and English. Our method is to use the Chinese and English texts in the SEAME corpus to train the BERT-BiLSTM-CRF model and use the model to know the code-switching position, generating sentences that conform to the characteristics of this corpus. The experimental results show that the method in this paper has better performance than other methods. © 2022 IEEE.

LMD2F-Net: Layered Multi-Scale Dual-Branch Dual-Temporal Fusion Network for Medical Image Segmentation

Image segmentation techniques play a crucial role in medical image analysis, which is directly related to the diagnosis of diseases, the development of treatment plans, and the evaluation of efficacy. Although Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformer-based approaches have made significant progress in this area, the inherent complexity of medical images, including features such as low contrast, fuzzy boundaries, and noise, makes automated segmentation tasks still challenging. To address these issues, we propose LMD2F-Net, an innovative encoder-decoder architecture that cleverly fuses the multi-axis attention mechanism of MaxViT and the global context modelling capability of Swin Transformer through a two-branch structure. This combination not only enhances the model's ability to capture local features, but also improves the understanding of the global context. In the decoding stage, we propose the Multi-scale Bitemporal Fusion Module (MBFM), which further optimises the feature fusion through a multi-scale feature extraction and attention mechanism, and significantly improves the model's ability to identify and capture key features of medical images. In addition, we introduce the dual-level fusion (DLF) module, which acts as a bridge between the encoder and decoder to effectively integrate features at different levels through the cross-attention mechanism. Experimental results on several challenging medical image segmentation datasets show that LMD2F-Net outperforms existing methods in several evaluation metrics, especially in key metrics such as Dice similarity coefficient and Hausdorff distance, which demonstrate its superior performance. These findings confirm the potential of LMD2F-Net in improving the accuracy and robustness of medical image segmentation, providing a valuable reference for future research and clinical practice. © 2013 IEEE.

Road traffic congestion prediction is a crucial component of intelligent transportation systems, since it enables proactive traffic management, enhances suburban experience, reduces environmental impact, and improves overall safety and efficiency. Although there are several public datasets, especially for metropolitan areas, these datasets may not be applicable to practical scenarios due to insufficiency in the scale of data (i.e. number of sensors and road links) and several external factors like different characteristics of the target area such as urban, highways and the data collection location. To address this, this paper introduces a novel IBB Traffic graph dataset as an alternative benchmark dataset to mitigate these limitations and enrich the literature with new geographical characteristics. IBB Traffic graph dataset covers the sensor data collected at 2451 distinct locations. Moreover, we propose a novel Road Traffic Prediction Model that strengthens temporal links through feature engineering, node embedding with GLEE to represent interrelated relationships within the traffic network, and traffic prediction with ExtraTrees. The results indicate that the proposed model consistently outperforms the baseline models, demonstrating an average accuracy improvement of 4%. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
