Free text reviews are abundantly distributed over the internet among the standard population of the world. Although online doctors were consulted during the pandemic, many drugs are taken without prescription by ordinary people. Reviews are distributed about the medicines through online feeds, posts and blogs, which are merely helpful in identifying the side effects and their adverse reactions in combination with another drug or standalone adverse reactions. Spelling mistakes, jargon and short names are normalized throughout the medical terminologies using Natural language processing (NLP) and RxNorm from the reviews extracted from these sources. The concept of Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) is used to mine the association rules for the drug interactions when used in conjugation with another drug, and the idea of Adaptive Fuzzy logic neural networks is used to validate the results of association rules derived from the BERT. Inconsistencies identified by the regulations generated were rejected efficiently by the Support vector machines (SVM), Radial Basis Function (RBF)and the system shows 60.11 percentage of accuracy with 10 cross-fold validation, whereas the results are equivalent to the accuracy obtained using SVM with RBF kernel. The data set is reduced from its dimension using Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) by applying the mining process and BERT on two drugs, namely 'Azithromycin' in conjugation with Buprenorphine has Type 'A' side effects, and Prozac in conjugation with Metronidazole shows different side effects. Deplin and Zoloft give very positive symptoms and are independent of dosage interactions. © 2022 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence(ai) systems surpass certain human intelligence abilities in a statistical sense as a whole, but are not yet the true realization of these human intelligence abilities and behaviors. There are differences, and even contradictions, between the cognition and behavior of ai systems and humans. With the goal of achieving general ai, this study contains a review of the role of cognitive science in inspiring the development of the three mainstream academic branches of ai based on the three-layer framework proposed by David Marr, and the limitations of the current development of ai are explored and analyzed. The differences and inconsistencies between the cognition mechanisms of the human brain and the computation mechanisms of ai systems are analyzed. They are found to be the cause of the differences and contradictions between the cognition and behavior of ai systems and humans. Additionally, eight important research directions and their scientific issues that need to focus on braininspired ai research are proposed: highly imitated bionic information processing, a large-scale deep learning model that balances structure and function, multi-granularity joint problem solving bidirectionally driven by data and knowledge, ai models that simulate specific brain structures, a collaborative processing mechanism with the physical separation of perceptual processing and interpretive analysis, embodied intelligence that integrates the brain cognitive mechanism and ai computation mechanisms,intelligence simulation from individual intelligence to group intelligence(social intelligence), and ai-assisted brain cognitive intelligence.

Using Lock-Free Design for Throughput-Optimized Cache Eviction

In large-scale information systems, storage device performance continues to improve while workloads expand in size and access characteristics. This growth puts tremendous pressure on caches and storage hierarchy in terms of concurrent throughput. However, existing cache eviction policies often struggle to provide adequate concurrent throughput due to their reliance on coarse-grained locking mechanisms and complex data structures. This paper presents a practical approach to cache eviction algorithm design, called Mobius, that optimizes the concurrent throughput of caches and reduces cache operation latency by utilizing lock-free data structures, while maintaining comparable hit ratios. Mobius includes two key designs. First, Mobius employs two lock-free FIFO queues to manage cache items, ensuring that all cache operations are executed efficiently in parallel. Second, Mobius integrates a consecutive detection mechanism that merges multiple modifications during eviction into a single operation, thereby reducing data races. Extensive evaluations using both synthetic and real-world workloads from high-concurrency clusters demonstrate that Mobius achieves a concurrent-throughput improvement ranging from 1.2× to 8.5× over state-of-the-art methods, while also maintaining lower latency and comparable cache hit ratios. The implementation of Mobius in CacheLib and RocksDB highlights its effectiveness in enhancing cache performance in practical scenarios.

Multi-head attention is a driving force behind state-of-the-art transformers, which achieve remarkable performance across a variety of natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision tasks. It has been observed that for many applications, those attention heads learn redundant embedding, and most of them can be removed without degrading the performance of the model. Inspired by this observation, we propose Transformer with a Mixture of Gaussian Keys (Transformer-MGK), a novel transformer architecture that replaces redundant heads in transformers with a mixture of keys at each head. These mixtures of keys follow a Gaussian mixture model and allow each attention head to focus on different parts of the input sequence efficiently. Compared to its conventional transformer counterpart, Transformer-MGK accelerates training and inference, has fewer parameters, and requires fewer FLOPs to compute while achieving comparable or better accuracy across tasks. Transformer-MGK can also be easily extended to use with linear attention. We empirically demonstrate the advantage of Transformer-MGK in a range of practical applications, including language modeling and tasks that involve very long sequences. On the Wikitext-103 and Long Range Arena benchmark, Transformer-MGKs with 4 heads attain comparable or better performance to the baseline transformers with 8 heads. Copyright © 2022 by the author(s)

In the current landscape of deep learning research, there is a predominant emphasis on achieving high predictive accuracy in supervised tasks involving large image and language datasets. However, a broader perspective reveals a multitude of overlooked metrics, tasks, and data types, such as uncertainty, active and continual learning, and scientific data, that demand attention. Bayesian deep learning (BDL) constitutes a promising avenue, offering advantages across these diverse settings. This paper posits that BDL can elevate the capabilities of deep learning. It revisits the strengths of BDL, acknowledges existing challenges, and highlights some exciting research avenues aimed at addressing these obstacles. Looking ahead, the discussion focuses on possible ways to combine large-scale foundation models with BDL to unlock their full potential. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

The technical community is becoming more concerned with the interface between humans and machines to increase the capability of the real device to fulfill the user's expectations and improve the interpretation of human control as accurately as possible. Intelligent systems that can mold themselves to their users' characteristics need dedicated research and development. A user-controlled, interactive robot visualizer that actively searches for and brings the viewer an item they choose. As a result, this study aims to present a Deep neural network-based interactive platform (DNNIP) to enhance understanding concerning the thinking of the end user. A deep neural network (DNN) and particle filtering may estimate the user location. The robot will first use location data to navigate the user's area, then face recognition to provide service at the user's location. The artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is a famous meta-heuristic optimization method based on how honeybees find sustenance. ABC is great at exploring low manipulation ability, low response, and high accuracy in robot interaction. Consequently, the experiments' findings demonstrate that the suggested model is a smart, more effective, and more reliable tool than conventional communication techniques. © 2023 IEEE.

Bioinformatics exploration into potential mechanisms of Calamus draco for colorectal cancer treatment

As one of the cancer types with the highest incidence rates, colorectal cancer (CRC) would benefit from treatments with fewer side effects and reduced treatment-resistant potential. One of the options is to harness the anti-CRC potential of natural products. Previous studies have shown that Calamus draco exudate, dragon's blood, has anticancer activity in liver cancer and acute myeloid leukemia, but its bioactivity has not been studied in CRC. Here we conduct a bioinformatics study based on network pharmacology to explore the anti-CRC potential and mechanism of C. draco -derived compounds. The bioinformatics pipeline is composed of compound and target collection, biological network evaluation, and enrichment analysis. We found that there are 43 bioactive compounds from C. draco targeting 91 CRC-related targets, of which most compounds target MEN1, PTGS2, and IDH1. Further analyses show that the targets of C. draco are involved in the cellular response to hypoxia. By inhibiting those targets, C. draco bioactive compounds can potentially hinder angiogenesis and increase treatment response efficacy.

Relation classification is a crucial sub-task of information extraction, playing a significant role in extracting structured information from vast texts and constructing knowledge graphs. However, in practical scenarios, the availability of labeled data is often limited, and some datasets exhibit a long-tail distribution. To address these challenges, few-shot learning relation classification (FSRC) has emerged as a promising approach. The purpose of FSRC is to learn high-quality features with insufficient data for distinguishing the relation between given entities in a sentence. This task presents greater challenges compared to traditional relation classification tasks. Recently, FSRC has gained a lot of attention, prompting numerous researchers to provide innovative methods, datasets, and ideas to tackle this challenge. This paper focuses on relation classification based on few-shot learning and provides a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art techniques. Based on distinct research characteristics, we classified FSRC methods into five categories: metric-based method, optimization-based method, pre-trained and LLMs based method, prompt-based method, and lower source situation. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each category, provide a summary of the datasets, metrics, and results obtained by representative models. Finally, the paper concludes the current limitations of the few-shot relation classification and proposes future research directions. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) knowledge graphs are a common way to represent industrial information models. Conventional SPARQL querying systems require the users to be familiar with the data schema and SPARQL syntax. However, this is often very difficult for many users in industrial production, who have mostly an engineering background, instead of a semantic web. Recent developments in large language models (LLMs) make it possible for non-semantic experts to use natural language to query knowledge graphs (KG). In this work, we present a framework and preliminary results of integrating Industry 4.0 KGs with LLMs to improve how data is represented, reasoned, and processed in manufacturing contexts, facilitating user interaction with KGs and contributing to operational efficiency. Our technique enhances Language Models (LLMs) by utilising the semantic complexity and interdependence of Knowledge Graphs (KGs). This allows us to incorporate domain-specific knowledge. We used the FaiSS library and LLaMA2 to optimise the storage and retrieval of vectors, which improved the system’s performance and scalability. This integration allows for advanced fault detection, proactive maintenance, and process optimisation, resulting in decreased periods of inactivity and improved productivity. We introduce the framework’s architecture, implementation strategy, and possible advantages while also discussing the difficulties associated with data integration and scalability. The results of our study show that the integration of KG-LLM surpasses traditional approaches in terms of operational efficiency, as evidenced by enhanced fault detection, proactive maintenance, and process optimisation, thereby opening up possibilities for the advancement of more intelligent and resilient production systems. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

The availability of cloud services is an important performance index of cloud platform. It is the premise and basis for a cloud platform to provide services. aiming at the problem of insufficient reliability of cloud services in university data centers, this paper proposes a high available and decentralized cloud platform scheme based on OpenStack for university micro data center. Firstly, the scheme sets the super fusion of the network layer and detects the state through URL location, which effectively avoids the single points of failure. And then, the database layer adopts multi-master design to realize the super redundant architecture and ensure the high availability. Finally, the reliability evaluation model and experiments show that the service availability of this scheme is very high. © 2022 ACM.
