Flexible-antenna systems, such as fluid antennas and movable antennas, have been recognized as key enabling technologies for sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks, as they can intelligently reconfigure the effective channel gains of the users and hence significantly improve their data transmission capabilities. However, existing flexible-antenna systems have been designed to combat small-scale fading in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions. As a result, they lack the ability to establish line-of-sight links, which are typically 100 times stronger than NLoS links. In addition, existing flexible-antenna systems have limited flexibility, where adding/removing an antenna is not straightforward. This article introduces an innovative flexible-antenna system called pinching antennas, which are realized by applying small dielectric particles to waveguides. We first describe the basics of pinching-antenna systems and their ability to provide strong LoS links by deploying pinching antennas close to the users as well as their capability to scale up/down the antenna system. We then focus on communication scenarios with different numbers of waveguides and pinching antennas, where innovative approaches to implement multiple-input multiple-output and non-orthogonal multiple access are discussed. In addition, promising 6G-related applications of pinching antennas, including integrated sensing and communication and next-generation multiple access, are presented. Fabricating of metal foams with desired morphological parameters including pore size,porosity and pore opening is possible now using sintering ***,if it is possible to determine the morphology of metal foam to absorb sound at a given frequency,and then fabricate it through sintering,it is expected to have optimized metal foams for the best sound *** sound absorption models such as Lu model describe the relationship between morphological parameters and the sound absorption *** this study,the Lu model was used to optimize the morphological parameters of aluminum metal foam for the best sound absorption *** this purpose,the Lu model was numerically solved using written codes in MATLAB *** validating the proposed codes with benchmark data,the genetic algorithm(GA)was applied to optimize the affecting morphological parameters on the sound absorption *** optimization was carried out for the thicknesses of 5 mm to 40 mm at the sound frequency range of 250 Hz–8000 *** optimized parameters ranged from 50%to 95%for porosity,0.1 mm to 4.5 mm for pore size,and 0.07 mm to 0.6 mm for pore opening *** result of this study was applied to fabricate the desired aluminum metal foams for the best sound *** novel approach applied in this study,is expected to be successfully applied in for best sound absorption in desired frequencies.

MaMaDroid2.0 - The Holes of Control Flow Graphs

Android malware is a continuously expanding threat to billions of mobile users around the globe. Detection systems are updated constantly to address these threats. However, a backlash takes the form of evasion attacks, in which an adversary changes malicious samples such that those samples will be misclassified as benign. This paper fully inspects a well-known Android malware detection system, MaMaDroid, which analyzes the control flow graph of the application. Changes to the portion of benign samples in the train set and models are considered to see their effect on the classifier. The changes in the ratio between benign and malicious samples have a clear effect on each one of the models, resulting in a decrease of more than 40% in their detection rate. Moreover, adopted ML models are implemented as well, including 5-NN, Decision Tree, and Adaboost. Exploration of the six models reveals a typical behavior in different cases, of tree-based models and distance-based models. Moreover, three novel attacks that manipulate the CFG and their detection rates are described for each one of the targeted models. The attacks decrease the detection rate of most of the models to 0%, with regards to different ratios of benign to malicious apps. As a result, a new version of MaMaDroid is engineered. This model fuses the CFG of the app and static analysis of features of the app. This improved model is proved to be robust against evasion attacks targeting both CFG-based models and static analysis models, achieving a detection rate of more than 90% against each one of the attacks. © 2022, CC BY.

Software testing is very important in software development to ensure its quality and reliability. As software systems have become more complex, the number of test cases has increased, which presents the challenge of executing all the tests in a limited time frame. Various test case prioritization techniques have been introduced to solve this problem. These methods aim to identify and implement the most critical tests first. In this paper, we propose an implementation of a dynamic test case prioritization strategy to improve software quality by increasing code coverage with special attention to edge case handling. Edge case test prioritization is a technique that improves test efficiency by selecting extreme case scenarios that can reveal critical bugs or unexpected behavior early in development, improving overall software reliability and dependability. In order to prioritize test cases, this paper presents a regression-based method that makes use of machine learning algorithms. The approach leverages previous performance data to optimize regression testing efficiency by examining variables like test time and execution status. Performance evaluations, when compared against industry standards and cutting-edge techniques, show how effective these algorithms are at correctly prioritizing test cases and identifying faults. This study offers simplified yet reliable solutions for regression testing optimization by shedding light on the efficacy of regression algorithms, such as Random Forest and decision trees.

Social media is profoundly changing our society with its unprecedented spreading power. Due to the complexity of human behaviors and the diversity of massive messages, the information spreading dynamics are complicated, and the reported mechanisms are different and even controversial. Based on data from mainstream social media platforms, including WeChat, Weibo, and Twitter, cumulatively encompassing a total of 7.45 billion users, we uncover a ubiquitous mechanism that the information spreading dynamics are basically driven by the interplay of social reinforcement and social weakening effects. Accordingly, we propose a concise equation, which, surprisingly, can well describe all the empirical large-scale spreading trajectories. Our theory resolves a number of controversial claims and satisfactorily explains many phenomena previously observed. It also reveals that the highly clustered nature of social networks can lead to rapid and high-frequency information bursts with relatively small coverage per burst. This vital feature enables social media to have a high capacity and diversity for information dissemination, beneficial for its ecological development. © 2025, CC BY.

While conversational semantic role labeling (CSRL) has shown its usefulness on Chinese conversational tasks, it is still under-explored in non-Chinese languages due to the lack of multilingual CSRL annotations for the parser training. To avoid expensive data collection and error-propagation of translation-based methods, we present a simple but effective approach to perform zero-shot cross-lingual CSRL. Our model implicitly learns language-agnostic, conversational structure-aware and semantically rich representations with the hierarchical encoders and elaborately designed pre-training objectives. Experimental results show that our model outperforms all baselines by large margins on two newly collected English CSRL test sets. More importantly, we confirm the usefulness of CSRL to non-Chinese conversational tasks such as the question-in-context rewriting task in English and the multi-turn dialogue response generation tasks in English, German and Japanese by incorporating the CSRL information into the downstream conversation-based models. We believe this finding is significant and will facilitate the research of non-Chinese dialogue tasks which suffer the problems of ellipsis and anaphora. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

Like most diseases that affect a human's life, car-diovascular disease is dangerous and unwanted for anyone who has heard of it as it brings a high risk of death. In today's world, most deaths are caused by heart disease as it could come from age, heritage, smoking, and many factors that could seem normal, and it doesn't matter what part of the world you are in. There must be a way to know or predict if this person is at high risk of cardiovascular disease. This paper and project talk about six algorithms: K-Nearest-Neighbour (KNN), Decision Tree (DT), Naive Bayes, Neural Network, Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machine (SVM). The results came between 60% to 70% in one dataset and from 80 % to 90 % in the second. Still, they mostly favor the Neural Network algorithm as it can learn and model around complex relationships. The SVM showed different outputs between the two datasets as one is significantly larger than the other, possibly due to the outliers in both datasets being different and more complex in the larger one. Cardiovascular disease can be very dangerous, but finding and discovering it soon can be a lifesaver. These algorithms also can help find and predict it, as it was shown with not just decent, but good and respectable success rates for each one.

Randomized Latent Factor Model for High-dimensional and Sparse Matrices from Industrial applications

Latent factor(LF) models are highly effective in extracting useful knowledge from High-Dimensional and Sparse(HiDS) matrices which are commonly seen in various industrial applications. An LF model usually adopts iterative optimizers,which may consume many iterations to achieve a local optima,resulting in considerable time cost. Hence, determining how to accelerate the training process for LF models has become a significant issue. To address this, this work proposes a randomized latent factor(RLF) model. It incorporates the principle of randomized learning techniques from neural networks into the LF analysis of HiDS matrices, thereby greatly alleviating computational burden. It also extends a standard learning process for randomized neural networks in context of LF analysis to make the resulting model represent an HiDS matrix *** results on three HiDS matrices from industrial applications demonstrate that compared with state-of-the-art LF models, RLF is able to achieve significantly higher computational efficiency and comparable prediction accuracy for missing data.I provides an important alternative approach to LF analysis of HiDS matrices, which is especially desired for industrial applications demanding highly efficient models.

In today's environment, cancer is a fatal disease. Skin cancer has become a fairly common malignancy due to the spread of several forms of cancer. Skin cancer is divided into two types: melanoma and non-melanoma. Melanoma is one of the most fatal tumors on the planet, and it can spread to other parts of the body if not diagnosed early enough. Our proposed system uses Five alternative methods to predict a skin lesion's borders, texture, and color: a neural network and four standard machine learning classifiers. To enhance their performance, the outputs of these systems are merged using majority voting. Experiments have demonstrated that combining the five strategies yields the maximum level of accuracy. Pre-processing, Segmentation, Feature Extraction, and Classification are four critical phases in skin cancer identification. Skin lesion images were collected for this research from the International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC), which contains over 3297 photos. The accuracy of the NN classifier is 91.9%, compared to 87.2% for the KNN classifier, 81.5% for the Naive Bayes classifier, 72.5% for the SVM classifier, and 68.3% for the DT classifier.

Alzheimer's disease is a fatal brain disorder that impacts predominantly the elderly. The early identification of Alzheimer's illness requires the use of efficient automated methods. For the categorization of Alzheimer's disease, researchers have proposed several distinct methods. To create more effective learning strategies, however, a deeper comprehension of Alzheimer's research is necessary. The condition is diagnosed but not until a later stage. As a consequence, the disease's progression or its symptoms' onset can be slowed if detected earlier. This article uses two datasets and machine learning techniques to predict Alzheimer's disease based on psychological characteristics such as age, gender, number of visits, and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). We ultimately focused on the masculine gender and characteristics. The following results (accuracy) were discovered: SVM: 84%, KNN: 79%, and Random forest: 86%. Neural network: 86%; Naive Bayes: 83%.
