Attempts by the research community to meet expectations arising from future Internet systems, and specifically to provide Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia multi-user sessions, have resulted in mechanisms such as Multi-User Aggregated Resource Allocation (MARA). Its results have been promising, mainly because it drastically reduces signaling and processing overhead, despite its limitations in multi-ingress scenarios. In view of these benefits, this paper proposes the Multi-User Aggregated Resource Allocation - Multi-Ingress to overcome the main limitations of MARA so that it can serve as a promising tool in current and future IP-based network systems. The simulation experiments carried out for MARA-MI demonstrated the benefits in optimizing bandwidth use and networking costs while maintaining QoS over time in multiple sessions, in comparison to a relevant related work.

This paper presents the results of main part-of-speech tagging of Turkish sentences using Conditional Random Fields (CRFs). Although CRFs are applied to many different languages for part-of-speech (POS) tagging, Turkish poses interesting challenges to be modeled with them. The challenges include issues related to the statistical model of the problem as well as issues related to computational complexity and scaling. In this paper, we propose a novel model for main-POS tagging in Turkish. Furthermore, we propose some approaches to reduce the computational complexity and allow better scaling characteristics or improve the performance without increased complexity. These approaches are discussed with respect to their advantages and disadvantages. We show that the best approach is competitive with the current state of the art in accuracy and also in training and test durations. The good results obtained imply a good first step towards full morphological disambiguation.

Gestural devices have introduced new challenges to the field of user interaction. iPhone, despite the high intuitiveness of its gestural interface, raises a number of minor and major usability issues that due to its widespread usage affect a large user population. This study examines the usability of five preinstalled iPhone applications (Contacts, Clock, Camera, Calendar and Safari) by conducting testing sessions with users that have no (or limited) prior experience with iPhone, iPad and iPod and can thus be considered novices. The results of the usability assessment confirm the list of potential usability issues documented in related sources and stress the crucial importance of gestural interaction devices conforming to established fundamental principles of usable interaction design.

Wireless networking technologies in recent years have witnessed important developments since the advantages benefit both data transmission service providers, and individuals or ordinary users. Ease of installation of a wireless network, led to the development of millions of Wi-Fi networks throughout the world. Nevertheless, Wi-Fi has certain drawbacks that inspired the implementation of a new technology called WiMAX. In 2003, the IEEE 802.16™ standard, also known as WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) was adopted, in order to meet the requirements for broadband wireless access. The purpose of this paper is to study how the electromagnetic fields generated by WiMAX base stations can be evaluated in terms of exposure. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper gives a survey in QoS Routing Architecture implemented by Dijkstra's algorithm. The performance of QoS Routing architecture is evaluated by made a comparison between the Shortest Path Routing and QoS one. A very important feature in QoS routing are the conditions for elimination of starvation. Experimentally we have evaluated the number of packets delivery from source node to destination one in QoS Routing architecture with high and low priority classes based on ns-2 simulator. National/Ethnic population Mutation databases (NEMDBs) are online mutation depositories recording extensive information about the described genetic heterogeneity in populations and ethnic groups worldwide. FINDbase ( http://*** ) is a database containing causative mutations and pharmacogenomic markers allele frequencies in various populations and ethnic groups. In this paper, we experiment with designing and applying new automated data mining techniques on the original FINDbase causative mutations data collection in an attempt to identify genomic relationships between populations. Furthermore, we have developed an interactive web-based visualization tool that enables users to correlate the information, determine the relationships and gain insight into the underlying data collection in a novel and meaningful way. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

We present an O*(1.3160n)-time algorithm for the edge dominating set problem in an n-vertex graph, which improves previous exact algorithms for this problem. The algorithm is analyzed by using the "Measure and Conquer method." We design new branching rules based on conceptually simple local structures, called "clique-producing vertices/cycles," which significantly simplify the algorithm and its running time analysis, attaining an improved time bound at the same time. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper, we want to evaluate the performance of two broadcasters with Flow label and Non flow label approach. Experimentally we have presented that the throughput utilization for each broadcaster with Flow Label approach which is implemented in MPLS Routing Technology is 89,95%. This result is better than Non Flow Label approach which is evaluated at 92,77%. The aim of this paper is to present that MPLS Routers performance is better than IP routers especially in Throughput Utilization, Low Level of Drop Packet Rate and time delay. The second technology is implemented in IP routing. Experimentally we have generated some video stream packets between 2 broadcasters with an arrange of router nodes. Experiments are performed by using ns-2 simulator. Copyright © 2012 by the paper's authors.

The rapid development of wireless network technologies has been trending toward seamless heterogeneous networks. Consequently, for seamless mobility in heterogeneous networks, query efficiency when accessing neighboring networks is an issue of major concern. IEEE 802.21 MIH (Media-Independent Handover) deals with handovers in heterogeneous networks. It provides MIIS (Media Independent Information Service) servers at the network layer which assist mobile nodes query neighbor network information, enhancing network performance. But this leads to higher network costs. This paper proposes Hierarchical MIIS Servers in Heterogeneous Networks by Caching (HMSHNc), in which a hierarchical network classifies the stored information by network level (class) and distributes the location of the MIIS server cache to reduce query cost and to improve query efficiency. © 2012 IEEE.

Smart phone application development is a very active field for both research and the market domain. This paper investigates the application of ICONIX, a use case driven, object-oriented (OO) analysis and design methodology, for the development of a smart phone personal assistant. It also studies the integration of hand-held haptic devices in daily work activities by evaluating the usability of the application using as basis test scenarios deriving from the identified use cases. The Tennis Coaching Assistant (TCA) is an iPhone application that provides management and scheduling capabilities for tennis coaches and allows a comprehensive overview of the execution of on-court drills and coaching programs. The use of ICONIX made analysis and design keep a sharp focus on user requirements, assured design and coding documentation, fostered an excellent communication among all participants and stake holders and provided the crucial advantage of high reusability in case of implementing the same application for additional smart phone platforms. The paper also describes the usability evaluation methodology applied and documents the results focusing on interaction difficulties and practical obstacles reported by the users as well as suggestions for future versions of the application, which generally received quite positive feedback.
