We use quantum mechanics (QM) to determine the states formed by B dopants in diamond. We find that isolated B sites prefer to form BB dimers and that the dimers pair up to form tetramers (BBCBB) that prefer to aggregate parallel to the (111) surface in the direction, one double layer below the H-terminated surface double layer. These tetramers lead to metallic character (Mott metal Insulator Transition) with holes in the valence band near the Γ point and electrons in the BBCBB tetramer promoted band along the X direction. Our experiments find very significant anisotropy in the superconductivity for boron-doped diamond thin films prepared with Microwave Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition using deuterium-rich plasma. This leads to much higher conductivity in the X direction than the Y direction, as predicted by the QM. This phase transition to the anomalous phase is linked with the emergence of boson quantum entanglement states behaving as a bosonic insulating state. These anisotropic superconducting properties of the diamond film might enable applications such as single-photon detectors. We expect that this formation of a dirty superconductivity state is related to the BBCBB tetramers found in our QM calculations. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

There are considerable obstacles against realizing practical quantum computing: a significant amount of computation errors and the restricted qubit count. As a unified method of noise-agnostic quantum error mitigation (QEM) methods, i.e., the quantum subspace expansion and virtual purification, a generalized quantum subspace expansion (GSE) has recently been proposed that is significantly robust against stochastic and coherent errors. However, GSE requires entangled measurements between copies of the quantum states, which is a significant drawback under the current situation of the restricted number of qubits and their connectivity. In this work, we propose a resource-efficient implementation of GSE, which we name "Dual-GSE", circumventing significant overheads of state copies by constructing an ansatz of error-mitigated quantum states via dual-state purification. Remarkably, Dual-GSE can further simulate larger quantum systems beyond the size of available quantum hardware with a suitable ansatz construction inspired by divide-and-conquer methods that forge entanglement classically. This also significantly reduces the measurement overhead because we only need to measure subsystems’ Pauli operators. The proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical simulation of the eight-qubit transverse-field Ising model, showing that our method estimates the ground state energy with high precision under gate noise with low mitigation overhead and practical sampling cost. The cybernetic essence of the data extraction process at the level of end nodes (intermediate links of the information exchange path) is considered in the article. Authors consider and generalize the context-oriented problem of control action transferring to a specific activation point (transfer perceptron (response node)).The authors consider the subject area - distributed response networks. The role of addictive technologies in the process of formation of a complex control action or command and their transmitting is indicated. A simulation balance model is being developed for a routing model in the spatial field of an industrial computer network. It implements the method of filtering and disaggregation of automated technological process control lines according to a group criterion (by the method of sets determination).The introduction of hardware control of the model of the authentication system of automated line devices using the method of data multiplexing and the apparatus of fuzzy mathematics is given, formalized and considered, taking into account the use of a cryptographic flow limiter (unidirectional hash function, which has an integrated address controlled impact).Authors generalize a probabilistic model for calculation of the efficiency and expediency of the functioning of this system for a four-loop motion control line. Calculation of the standard deviation and variance for the emulating output of the considered perceptron is given. In conclusion, a block diagram of the developed device is presented.

Explaining predictions of deep neural classifier via activation analysis

In many practical applications, deep neural networks have been typically deployed to operate as a black box predictors. Despite high amount of work on interpretability and high demand on reliability of these systems, they typically still have to include a human actor in the loop, to validate the decisions and handle unpredictable failures and unexpected corner cases. This is true in particular for failure-critical application domains, such as medical diagnosis. We present a novel approach to explain and support an interpretation of a decision-making process to a human expert operating a deep learning system based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). By modeling activation statistics on selected layers of a trained CNN via Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), we develop a novel perceptual code in binary vector space that describes how input sample is processed by the CNN. By measuring distances between pairs of samples in this perceptual encoding space, for any new input sample, we can now retrieve a set of most perceptually similar and dissimilar samples from an existing atlas of labeled samples, to support and clarify the decision made by the CNN model. Possible uses of this approach include for example computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems working with medical imaging data, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT) scans. We demonstrate the viability of our method in the domain of medical imaging for patient condition diagnosis, as proposed decision explanation method via similar ground truth domain examples (e.g. from existing diagnosis archives) will be interpretable by the operating medical personnel. Waste application, beneficial in terms of soil abundance in nutrients, cannot lead to soil contamination. The incubation experiment aimed at assessing the effect of applying sulfur pulp (waste material containing elemental sulfur) and ground phosphate rock on the availability of heavy metals in soils. The experiment was conducted on two soils with different soil category: Medium and heavy, both of acid reaction and not contaminated with heavy metals. Doses of sulfur pulp and phosphate rock were set based on soil abundance in sulfur and phosphorus, guidelines on the limit content of these elements in soils, and on the principles of crop fertilization. Doses of 20 and 40 mg S as well as 40 and 80 mg P · kg-1 DM were added to medium soil;30 and 60 mg S as well as 60 and 120 mg P · kg-1 DM were added to heavy soil. The experiment comprised: Control soils (without additions), soils with only sulfur addition (in both doses), soils with simultaneous sulfur and phosphorus addition (in both doses). The content of available forms of heavy metals (Zn, Mn, Ni, Cd, Pb) in the soils was determined after 90 days of incubation. The elements were extracted with: 1) a mixture of 0.1 mol ∙ dm-3 hydroxylammonium chloride and 1 mol ∙ dm-3 ammonium acetate;2) 0.01 mol ∙ dm-3 calcium chloride. The element content in the solutions was determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). A higher content of trace elements was recorded after extraction with a mixture of hydroxylammonium chloride and ammonium acetate than after extraction with calcium chloride. Trace content of Cd and Pb was extracted with calcium chloride from both soils. Moreover, trace content of Ni was extracted from the medium soil with both reagents and trace content of Cd was extracted from the heavy soil with the mixture of hydroxylammonium chloride and ammonium acetate. Nowadays, when talking about cybersecurity, the talk is associated with the most important event in the world during the year 2020, which is COVID-19. Although the digital world exists parallel to the real world, humanity did not have to rely on the Internet to accomplish its tasks. However, the situation changed after the Corona pandemic, as the world found itself in front of one option, which is to work remotely to overcome the impact of the pandemic. Therefore, with this massive and sudden digital transformation on the global level, cyber criminals have many opportunities through cyber vulnerabilities that appear due to the rapid shift to remote work. In this study, we presented an accurate review of the effects that accompanied the occurrence of the Coronavirus pandemic on cybersecurity. Moreover, the world has seen a growing number of cyber-attacks due to these effects, which led to attract the attention to the importance of cyber security to ensure full benefit from digital services without exposure to damage. Also, we indicated in this paper a number of recommendations that contribute to mitigating the damages of cyber-attacks or preventing their occurrence. Furthermore, Cyber security should be a complete approach and not limited to the technical side, where the awareness of the community about cyber risks should contribute to preventing cyber criminals from achieving their goals.

Prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer (BC) is an essential prerequisite for the selection of proper treatment. The substantial pressure due to the increase of demand for faster and more precise diagnostic results drives for automatic solutions. In the past decade, deep learning techniques have demonstrated their power over several domains, and computer-Aided (CAD) diagnostic became one of them. However, when it comes to the analysis of Whole Slide Images (WSIs), most of the existing works compute predictions from levels independently. This is, however, in contrast to the histopathologist expert approach who requires to see a global architecture of tissue structures important in BC classification. We present a deep learning-based solution and framework for processing WSIs based on a novel approach utilizing the advantages of image levels. We apply the weighing of information extracted from several levels into the final classification of the malignancy. Our results demonstrate the profitability of global information with an increase of accuracy from 72.2% to 84.8%. © 2021, CC BY.

Generating private randomness is essential for numerous applications ranging from security proofs to online banking. Consequently, the capacity of quantum devices to amplify the privacy of a weak source of randomness, in cases unattainable by classical methods, constitutes a practical advantage. One of the theoretical models of such weak sources are the so-called Santha-Vazirani (SV) sources;however, finding natural sources satisfying the SV model is a paramount challenge. In this article, we take three significant steps on the way to simplify this hard task. We begin with an in-depth analysis of the mathematical background for estimating the quality of a weak randomness source by providing a set of axioms that systematize the possible approaches to such estimation. We then develop software (SVTest) to estimate the parameter characterizing the source’s randomness. The software is general-purpose, i.e., it can test the randomness of any target sequence of bits. Later, we apply the software to test seismic events (earthquakes and local noise) as potential sources of randomness. Our results demonstrate that seismic phenomena are possible sources of randomness, depending on the choice of discretization. Therefore, our work provides strong evidence of the potential of geophysical phenomena as a source of cryptographic resources, building an unprecedented bridge between both fields.
