DeepCNN:Spectro-temporal feature representation for speech emotion recognition

Speech emotion recognition(SER)is an important research problem in human-computer interaction *** representation and extraction of features are significant challenges in SER *** the promising results of recent studies,they generally do not leverage progressive fusion techniques for effective feature representation and increasing receptive *** mitigate this problem,this article proposes DeepCNN,which is a fusion of spectral and temporal features of emotional speech by parallelising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and a convolution layer-based *** parallel CNNs are applied to extract the spectral features(2D-CNN)and temporal features(1D-CNN)representations.A 2D-convolution layer-based transformer module extracts spectro-temporal features and concatenates them with features from parallel *** learnt low-level concatenated features are then applied to a deep framework of convolutional blocks,which retrieves high-level feature representation and subsequently categorises the emotional states using an attention gated recurrent unit and classification *** fusion technique results in a deeper hierarchical feature representation at a lower computational cost while simultaneously expanding the filter depth and reducing the feature *** Berlin Database of Emotional Speech(EMO-BD)and Interactive Emotional Dyadic Motion Capture(IEMOCAP)datasets are used in experiments to recognise distinct speech *** efficient spectral and temporal feature representation,the proposed SER model achieves 94.2%accuracy for different emotions on the EMO-BD and 81.1%accuracy on the IEMOCAP dataset *** proposed SER system,DeepCNN,outperforms the baseline SER systems in terms of emotion recognition accuracy on the EMO-BD and IEMOCAP datasets.

As network systems expand in complexity, the necessity for effective intrusion detection grows. This study compares two distributed machine learning systems utilizing different communication topologies: Parameter Server and Point-to-Point. The former employs centralized parameter management for efficient communication, while the latter facilitates direct node-to-node communication without a central server. Using extensive network traffic data, the models are assessed on performance metrics like accuracy, scalability, and false positive rates. Both systems show promising results, with median accuracy and F1 scores around 93%. However, limitations include potential data homogeneity issues, scalability challenges particularly with the Parameter Server becoming a bottleneck, concerns over model overfitting, and high computational overhead in maintaining models across numerous nodes. Addressing these drawbacks is crucial for improving the reliability of intrusion detection systems in complex network environments. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article,we developed sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of an approximate solution to a nonlinear system of Lorenz equations under Caputo-Fabrizio fractional order derivative(CFFD).The required results about the existence and uniqueness of a solution are derived via the fixed point approach due to Banach and ***,we enriched our work by establishing a stable result based on the Ulam-Hyers(U-H)***,the approximate solution is computed by using a hybrid method due to the Laplace transform and the Adomian decomposition *** computed a few terms of the required solution through the mentioned method and presented some graphical presentation of the considered problem corresponding to various fractional *** results of the existence and uniqueness tests for the Lorenz system under CFFD have not been studied ***,the suggested method results for the proposed system under the mentioned derivative are ***,the adopted technique has some useful features,such as the lack of prior discrimination required by wavelet *** proposed method does not depend on auxiliary parameters like the homotopy method,which controls the *** proposed method is rapidly convergent and,in most cases,it has been used as a powerful technique to compute approximate solutions for various nonlinear problems.

Privacy and security issues concerning mobile devices have substantial consequences for individuals, groups, governments, and businesses. The Android operating system bolsters smartphone data protection by imposing restrictions on app behavior. Nevertheless, attackers conduct systematic resource analyses and divert privacy-sensitive information from plain view. They employ evasive mechanisms to evade system monitoring and create an illusion of benign and non-sensitive communication. Furthermore, covert channels amplify the impact of these malicious activities by facilitating information transfer through non-standard methods. The purpose of this research is to shed light on these novel threats targeting Android systems. The study delves into security and privacy attacks that compromise sensitive user information. The methodology leverages evasion concepts and employs sound-specific covert channel communication, particularly ultrasonic channels. This research work introduces novel evasive attacks, namely Prime-Composite Evasive Information Invasion (PCEII) and File-lock-based Evasive Information Invasion (FEII), both relying on covert channel communication. These unique variants of attacks successfully evade user data within a few milliseconds for both noisy as well as non-noisy environments and do not show any signs of detection by antivirus mechanisms like Anti-Virus Guard (AVG), 360 security, etc. and state-of-the-art tools such as TaintDroid, MockDroid and others. The paper not only assesses their impact on the privacy and security of information but also introduces avenues for their detection and mitigation. © 2023 The Authors

Although wireless networks are extremely important in modern communication, one of the most significant challenges they face is the quantity of energy that they use. Within this study, a new way of sending data over wireless networks is suggested. The gravitational search algorithm (GSA) and residue networks of the ResNet type are used together in this method. By using wireless networks, the main goal of this method is to find answers to problems that come up with using energy more efficiently. The creation and use of a hybrid ResNet-GSA model for wireless communication is one of the most important parts of our method. Because it follows the rules of gravity, GSA can quickly look through the solution space to find the right parameter values. At the same time, the network works better when the deep learning features of ResNet are used. The results of our research show that there are big improvements in how much energy is used compared to using traditional ways. If you want to cut down on the amount of energy used, the ResNet-GSA strategy that was suggested also works well. The findings demonstrate that optimisation techniques and deep learning methodologies are not only compatible with one another but also perform effectively together to make wireless networks more environmentally friendly. © 2024 IEEE.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a complication of the diabetes, caused by a damage to the blood vessels in the light-sensitive tissue of the retina: consequently it affects the eyes, determining blindness and visual impairment. On the basis of the last report of the International Diabetes Federation, 537 million adults (20-79 years) were living with diabetes (1 in 10) in 2021, being the cause of 6.7 million deaths (1 every 5 seconds). Taking into account that the number of people affected by DR is predicted to increase to 643 million by 2030 and 700 million by 2045, it is clear that effective screening of potential DR patients is of utmost importance. While direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy are the main methods for evaluating DR, artificial intelligence is on the rise in vision care. DR is detectable by analyzing data from patients' fundus photographs, and is therefore a disease that artificial intelligence tools can effectively support. In this paper, we present some numerical results obtained in the classification between eye fundi of healthy individuals and of people with severe DR, using a Multiple Instance Learning approach. © 2023 CEUR-WS. Swallowing assessment is a crucial task to reveal swallowing abnormalities. There are multiple modalities to analyze swallowing kinematics, such as videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS), which is the gold standard method, and high-resolution cervical auscultation (HRCA), which is a noninvasive technique that uses a triaxial accelerometer attached to the patient's neck. Deep learning models play an essential role in data driven analysis of swallowing landmarks using VFSS and/or HRCA as input data. Most of these models utilize convolutional and recurrent neural networks. Here, we investigate the ability of transformers to analyze swallowing kinematics;specifically upper esophageal sphincter opening and laryngeal vestibule closure using HRCA signals. We tested the model using an independent test dataset to assess the generalizability of the proposed network. The proposed network achieved an average detection accuracy higher than 90% and 85% for both segmentation tasks, which outperform the hybrid neural networks from the literature, and the model obtained high-performance measures for the independent dataset, showing the transformers' ability to generalize on unseen data. © 2024 IEEE.

A novel adaptive multiple dependent state sampling plan(AMDSSP)was designed to inspect products from a continuous manufacturing process under the accelerated life test(ALT)using both double sampling plan(DSP)and multiple dependent state sampling plan(MDSSP)*** accelerated conditions,the lifetime of a product follows the Weibull distribution with a known shape parameter,while the scale parameter can be determined using the acceleration factor(AF).The Arrhenius model is used to estimate AF when the damaging process is *** economic design of the proposed sampling plan was also considered for the ALT.A genetic algorithm with nonlinear optimization was used to estimate optimal plan parameters to minimize the average sample number(ASN)and total cost of inspection(TC)under both producer’s and consumer’s *** results are presented to support the AMDSSP for the ALT,while performance comparisons between the AMDSSP,the MDSSP and a single sampling plan(SSP)for the ALT are *** indicated that the AMDSSP was more flexible and efficient for ASN and TC than the MDSSP and SSP plans under accelerated *** AMDSSP also had a higher operating characteristic(OC)curve than both the existing sampling *** real datasets of electronic devices for the ALT at high temperatures demonstrated the practicality and usefulness of the proposed sampling plan.
