In this work,we propose a real proportional-integral-derivative plus second-order derivative(PIDD2)controller as an efficient controller for vehicle cruise control systems to address the challenging issues related to efficient *** this regard,this paper is the first report in the literature demonstrating the implementation of a real PIDD2 controller for controlling the respective *** construct a novel and efficient metaheuristic algorithm by improving the performance of the Aquila Optimizer via chaotic local search and modified opposition-based learning strategies and use it as an excellently performing tuning *** also propose a simple yet effective objective function to increase the performance of the proposed algorithm(CmOBL-AO)to adjust the real PIDD2 controller's parameters *** show the CmOBL-AO algorithm to perform better than the differential evolution algorithm,gravitational search algorithm,African vultures optimization,and the Aquila Optimizer using well-known unimodal,multimodal benchmark ***2019 test suite is also used to perform ablation experiments to reveal the separate contributions of chaotic local search and modified opposition-based learning strategies to the CmOBL-AO *** the vehicle cruise control system,we confirm the more excellent performance of the proposed method against particle swarm,gray wolf,salp swarm,and original Aquila optimizers using statistical,Wilcoxon signed-rank,time response,robustness,and disturbance rejection *** also use fourteen reported methods in the literature for the vehicle cruise control system to further verify the more promising performance of the CmOBL-AO-based real PIDD2 controller from a wider *** excellent performance of the proposed method is also illustrated through different quality indicators and different operating ***,we also demonstrate the good performing capability of the CmOBL-AO algorithm for real traffic *** show

Alzheimer's disease is the most common age-related problem and progresses in different stages, from cognitively normal to early mild cognitive impairment, and severe dementia. This study investigates the predictive potential of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and its derived functional connectivity (FC) in understanding Alzheimer's progression. Leveraging deep learning and graph-based models, we introduce two key contributions: 1) a comparative analysis of rs-fMRI time points and FC for Alzheimer's prediction. 2) an innovative graph transformer variant incorporating self-clustering for enhanced prediction accuracy. Experiments on the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative dataset with 830 subjects reveal two notable conclusions. Firstly, rs-fMRI time points offer limited utility compared to functional network connectivity for transformer-based models, even when considering temporal information. Secondly, a clustering-based attention module proves effective for classifying brain networks in predicting Alzheimer's disease progression, providing valuable insights for future research and clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Blockchain and smart contracts have become one of the most popular technologies to establish decentralized applications. Due to public visibility of data stored in blockchain, the information processed by a smart contract is visible to every party in a blockchain. To improve data confidentiality, this study proposes a trusted computing as a service (TCaaS) framework based on the blockchain. The framework includes a trustworthy node to perform trusted computing. Using the proposed framework, users of blockchain systems can integrate trustworthy node into blockchain systems. Users can also upload general-purposed programs and associated parameters and discover trustworthy node for execution via related smart contracts. The programs and parameters are encrypted so that only selected trustworthy node can decrypt the data. The execution environment returns computed results to the corresponding blockchain system. We evaluate our concept with the ESP32 microcontroller with the ATECC508A security chip and the Quorum blockchain system. Therefore, the study contributes to construct a trusted computing environment for blockchain system and preserve confidentiality at the same time. © 2014 IEEE.

Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a swarm intelligence algorithm that finds candidate solutions by iteratively updating the positions of particles in a swarm. PSO performance depends on the use of a suitable control parameter (CP) configuration, which governs the trade-off between exploration and exploitation in the swarm. Various methods of adapting or tuning CPs exist, but many result in exploding particle velocities and an unstable search process. Poli's stability condition ensures convergence in the mathematical limit, and is often used to inform CP configuration. However, this study shows that since it does not place any practical convergence constraints, it cannot be used to guarantee a stable search process. Velocity explosion occurs nonetheless and can lead to floating-point overflow and numerical instability. The investigation into various CP configurations across diverse functions and measurements of particle velocities provides empirical evidence of velocity explosion, and cautions against the assumption that enforcing Poli's criterion guarantees stability. The findings underline the need for comprehensive understanding of CP tuning and stability conditions in PSO, as well as the crucial role of empirical evidence in evaluating the real-world performance of swarm intelligence algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

The primary aim of this article is to investigate, contrast, and formulate a time series model to predict Bangkok's overall population. In this study, we intend to propose a hybrid model that combines the Autoregressive Moving Integrated Average (ARIMA) model and machine learning techniques, utilizing a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). Our data source comprises monthly data from 2002 to 2022, totaling 252 data points, obtained from the official registration statistics system of the Registration Administration Office, department of Provincial Administration. This dataset has been divided into two subsets: the first subset covers the years from 2002 to 2021, encompassing 240 data points, which will be used for constructing predictive models. The second subset consists of the data for the year 2022, comprising 12 data points, which will serve as a means to compare the accuracy of various forecasting methods. The evaluation criteria employed for this purpose are the minimum mean absolute error (MAE), the mean square error (MSE) and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Furthermore, we will utilize the Python programming language to facilitate data analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

The rising demand for nickel, a critical component in Li-ion battery cathodes, highlights the need for sustainable nickel processing methods that minimize carbon emissions. However, current pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical techniques for nickel processing yield significant CO2 emissions, necessitating a transition to greener technologies. The electrical permittivity constant is a crucial parameter in microwave processing technology. This study investigates the dielectric permittivity of nickel laterites, measured from 50 samples with nickel content ranging from 0.9% to 2.2%. The nickel content was quantified using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), while the permittivity constants (real part, Ε’, and imaginary part, Ε") were determined using the cavity perturbation method at a frequency of 2.5 GHz. The results revealed Ε’ values ranging from 2.8 to 4.1, with loss tangents (tan δ = Ε"/Ε’) varying from 0.047 to 0.108. Notably, Ε’ and tan δ exhibited positive correlations with increasing nickel and iron contents, while the presence of other elements such as Si, Mg, Al, Co, and Mn negatively impacted both parameters. These findings suggest that microwave heating presents a viable alternative for nickel processing across a wide range of nickel contents, offering the potential for lower carbon emissions compared to traditional methods. The correlation between permittivity constants and elemental composition provides critical insights for optimizing microwave processing in nickel smelting, positioning this technology as a promising candidate for sustainable mineral processing. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) tackle diverse challenges, for example, dynamic topological structure, high mobility of nodes, low density, and energy restrictions. These challenges make problems in designing reliable and stable routing in FANETs. Hence, the design of a routing algorithm is essential for transferring data between drones. In this paper, an energy-aware routing scheme based on a virtual relay tunnel (EARVRT) is proposed in flying ad hoc networks. EARVRT includes a virtual relay tunnel (VRT) that manages relay nodes in the route discovery process and lowers network overhead. Moreover, three metrics, namely route energy, hop counts, and a new metric called path correlation are regarded in the path selection operation. Note that correlation is defined with regard to two scales, including the cosine similarity of two nodes and their distance. EARVRT is evaluated according to delay, network longevity, consumed energy, and packet delivery rate. Then, our scheme is compared with three methods, namely LoCaL, O-LAR, and PSO-GLFR. These results show the superiority and success of EARVRT in comparison with other algorithms. © 2024 The Author(s)

The root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) is a popular measure of structural similarity between protein structures in the field of bioinformatics. The RMSD calculations involve alignment and optimal superposition between matched pairs of atoms, searching for the lowest RMSD result for both structures. Among the popular methods for calculating the optimal rotation matrix that minimizes the RMSD are the Kabsch algorithm and the Quaternion algorithm. The aim of this research is to present a simple tool for calculation of the RMSD between pairs of aligned three dimensional structures by applying the methods mentioned above. In recent times, a massive count of data and their increase gradually changed the significance of data security and data analysis methods for Big Data. An intrusion detection system (IDS) is a scheme which analyzes and monitors data for detecting some intrusion from the system or network. Massive volume, variety, and maximum speed of data created in the network develop the data analysis procedure for detecting attacks with typical approaches highly complex. Big Data systems can be utilized in IDS for managing Big Data for accurate and effectual data analysis procedures. This study develops an Intrusion Detection Approach using Hierarchical Deep Learning-based Butterfly Optimization algorithm (ID-HDLBOA) in Big Data Platform. The presented ID-HDLBOA technique combines the concept of DL with hyperparameter tuning process. In the presented ID-HDLBOA technique, hierarchical LSTM model is provided for intrusion detection purposes. Finally, BOA is used as a hyperparameter tuning strategy for the LSTM model and it results in improvised detection efficiency. The experimental validation of the ID-HDLBOA technique is assessed on benchmark intrusion dataset and the model gives the accuracy value of 98%. Wide-ranging experiments were performed and the outcomes emphasized the supremacy of the ID-HDLBOA algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.
