With the increasing popularity of live streaming platforms, there is an imperative need for robust methods for identifying individuals in real-time. The proposed system utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) computer vision algorithms to identify faces in live streams and match them against a pre-existing database of known individuals. Additionally, the system employs deep learning and supervised learning techniques along with various types of CNN to achieve robust facial recognition in diverse lighting and environmental conditions. The system's accuracy is evaluated using various performance metrics, including precision, recall, and F1-score. The results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves high accuracy in person identification during real-time live streams. This system holds potential applications in a variety of domains, including security, entertainment, and social media. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the application of end-to-end (E2E) learning for joint optimization of pulse-shaper and receiver filter to reduce intersymbol interference (ISI) in bandwidth-limited communication systems. We investigate this in two numerical simulation models: 1) an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with bandwidth limitation and 2) an intensity modulated direct detection (IM/DD) link employing an electro-absorption modulator. For both simulation models, we implement a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) scheme to ensure that the learned filters adhere to the bandwidth constraints of the WDM channels. Our findings reveal that E2E learning greatly surpasses traditional single-sided transmitter pulse-shaper or receiver filter optimization methods, achieving significant performance gains in terms of symbol error rate with shorter filter lengths. These results suggest that E2E learning can decrease the complexity and enhance the performance of future high-speed optical communication systems. © 2024, CC BY.

Social engineering is hacking and manipulating people's minds to obtain access to networks and systems in order to acquire sensitive data. A social engineering attack happens when victims are unaware of the strategies utilised and how to avoid them. Although rapid developments in communication technology made communication between individuals easier and faster, on the other hand, individuals' personal and private information is likely to be available online via social networking or other services without adequate security measures to protect such sensitive data. Hackers can use social engineering to target them no matter the technology they use to protect themselves. The methods differ, and the goal is the same, which is to manipulate and deceive organisations, companies, and individuals to obtain sensitive and private in-formation that attackers can benefit from, perhaps to sell it on the dark web or steal the payment card information of victims. The current research presents the attack techniques used in social engineering, as well as ways for pre-venting social engineering assaults. The major purpose of this study is to systematically and impartially conduct a systematic review of previous research on current social engineering attacks and the methods used to reduce these attacks. © 2023 IEEE.

It is indispensable to accurately and sensitively identify and analyze the elemental composition of human blood serum. In the current study, human blood serums were analyzed for elements utilizing orthogonal dual pulse laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (DP-LIBS) setup in He gas environment. Experimentally, a fundamental pulse Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm, 7 ns) was irradiated just above the material target to induce a luminous gas plasma. A third harmonic pulse Nd:YAG laser (355 nm, 7 ns) was subsequently focused on the material surface to initiate a target plasma to ablate the atoms from the blood serum film to be sent to the gas plasma region. Double pulse LIBS technique has been successfully applied to increase the LIBS signal intensity up to 8 folds of major, minor, and trace components in human blood serum. Furthermore, a number of emission lines that were indistinctly detected by single pulse LIBS were accurately identified with the use of the DP-LIBS. A variety of components from the human blood serum have been analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Element concentrations measured in human blood are to be 8360 ppm, 219 ppm, 581 ppm, 785 ppm, 343 ppm, 293 ppm, and 12 ppm for C, Ca, K, Mg, P, Na, and Fe, respectively. The LIBS outcome results are in excellent agreement with the results acquired by applying the standard XRF technique. © 2023, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

The design of the actuator is crucial for enhancing the performance of soft robots, particularly in challenging environments such as underwater. Among the most favored actuation techniques for soft underwater robots are soft fluidic actuators, which emulate the oscillatory motion of a fishtail. However, the effect of design parameters on such actuators is not yet well covered. This paper investigates the impact of design parameters on a dual soft fluidic actuator inspired by a tuna fish tail using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The study focuses on four main parameters: the actuator's outer wall thickness, the gap between the actuator's inner pillows, the number of pillows, and the thickness of the passive layer between two actuators. The study found that the outer wall thickness had the largest effect on the overall deformation. Following this, the paper experimentally assesses the performance of the resulting actuator topology against the simulation results. © 2024 IEEE.

We explore a hybrid technique to quantify the variability in the numerical solutions to a free boundary problem associated with magnetic equilibrium in axisymmetric fusion reactors amidst parameter uncertainties. The method aims at reducing computational costs by integrating a surrogate model into a multilevel Monte Carlo method. The resulting surrogate-enhanced multilevel Monte Carlo methods reduce the cost of simulation by factors as large as 104 compared to standard Monte Carlo simulations involving direct numerical solutions of the associated Grad-Shafranov partial differential equation. K Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm is a straight-forward yet powerful Machine Learning (ML) tool widely used in classification, clustering, and regression applications. In this work, KNN is applied, with three distance metrics, to classify different datasets, experimentally testing each distance metric effect on the classification performance. A static K is applied for the whole dataset optimally chosen based on a 5-fold cross-validation. A reconfigurable hardware realization on field programmable gate array (FPGA) of each distance metric applying selection sort algorithm is proposed. The FPGA realization reaches a throughput up to 4.44 Gbit/sec while only occupying 1% of the Genesys 2 Kintex-7 board area. The algorithm managed to classify all the tested datasets with above 90% accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

This work is dedicated to the issue of constructing secure information systems, which form the foundation of any industrial and technological platform within the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). It addresses and solves the task of identifying weak elements in such systems at the design stage by leveraging accumulated data regarding vulnerabilities from the National Vulnerability Database (NVD). It reviews existing literature on the analysis of NVD content, highlighting a lack of suitable solutions. To tackle this issue, the paper proposes a method based on linguistic and statistical processing of vulnerability descriptions. This method includes several steps: downloading NVD vulnerabilities for each code, consolidating these vulnerabilities into a unified structure and preprocessing them, extracting descriptions and measures of their impact on information security threats (breaches of confidentiality, integrity, and availability), breaking down the descriptions into constituent elements of information systems and their post-processing, collecting statistics on word occurrence in descriptions and their impact on breaches, generating a top list of the most vulnerable elements, and saving the final results. A programmatic prototype implementation of the method (in Python) is described. An experiment is conducted to compile a Top-20 list of the most vulnerable elements of information systems, both in general and in terms of their impact on all three information security threats. The paper analyzes the four resulting lists, discusses the limitations of the conducted research and results, provides justifications, and indicates ways to overcome these limitations. © 2024 IEEE.
