Novel Multimodal Biometric Feature Extraction for Precise Human Identification

In recent years,biometric sensors are applicable for identifying impor-tant individual information and accessing the control using various identiﬁers by including the characteristics like aﬁngerprint,palm print,iris recognition,and so ***,the precise identiﬁcation of human features is still physically chal-lenging in humans during their lifetime resulting in a variance in their appearance or *** response to these challenges,a novel Multimodal Biometric Feature Extraction(MBFE)model is proposed to extract the features from the noisy sen-sor data using a modiﬁed Ranking-based Deep Convolution Neural Network(RDCNN).The proposed MBFE model enables the feature extraction from differ-ent biometric images that includes iris,palm print,and lip,where the images are preprocessed initially for further *** extracted features are validated after optimal extraction by the RDCNN by splitting the datasets to train the fea-ture extraction model and then testing the model with different sets of input *** simulation is performed in matlab to test the efﬁcacy of the modal over multi-modal datasets and the simulation result shows that the proposed meth-od achieves increased accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 score than the existing deep learning feature extraction *** performance improvement of the MBFE Algorithm technique in terms of accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 score is attained by 0.126%,0.152%,0.184%,and 0.38%with existing Back Propaga-tion Neural Network(BPNN),Human Identiﬁcation Using Wavelet Transform(HIUWT),Segmentation Methodology for Non-cooperative Recognition(SMNR),Daugman Iris Localization Algorithm(DILA)feature extraction techni-ques respectively.

Security Metrics and Authentication-based RouTing (SMART) Protocol for Vehicular IoT Networks

Routing protocols, responsible for determining optimal paths, fall into two main categories: reactive and proactive protocols. In the realm of reactive routing protocols, exemplified by Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV), routes are created only when there is an actual data transmission requirement. In contrast, proactive routing protocols maintain pre-computed paths to all potential destinations, resulting in reduced resource utilization within reactive protocols and continuous route maintenance within proactive ones. Reactive routing protocols are resource efficient as they establish routes as needed, while proactive counterparts maintain routing tables for all possible destinations, ensuring constant route availability regardless of data transmission demands. This paper primarily concentrates on the reactive routing protocol category, focusing on real-time path optimization and routing information updates. In the context of Vehicular Internet of Things (VIoT) networks, where malicious entities might attempt to flood, mislead, or impersonate routing packets, it is imperative to ensure robust security measures within the routing protocol. Unfortunately, secure routing protocols in VIoT networks, including AODV, SAODV, and SGHRP, often exhibit inefficiencies and impose a high overhead. To address these challenges, this research paper introduces the Security Metrics and Authentication-based RouTing (SMART) protocol for VIoT networks, with a focus on enhancing security while minimizing overhead. The SMART protocol utilizes the Merkle tree for hash (digest) generation, which is then encrypted using Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) to reduce overhead. This proposed protocol enhances security by authenticating the source and incorporating security metrics into the routing information. This study addresses the deficiencies in the assumptions of the results in Chen and Yang, 2017 [1] due to the lack of uniformity. We first show the missing hypothesis by presenting a counterexample. Then we prove why they are wrong in that form and show the errors in the proof of the main result of [1]. Next, we compare the assumptions and related results of [1] with similar works in the literature. Lastly, we give suggestions to complement the shortcomings of the hypotheses and thus correct them. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

A Perceptual Computing Approach for Learning Interpretable Unsupervised Fuzzy Scoring Systems

Scoring the driver's behavior through the analysis of his/her road trip data is an active area of research. However, such systems suffer from a lack of explainability, integration of expert bias in the calculated score, and ignoring the semantic uncertainty of various variables contributing to the score. To overcome these limitations, we have proposed a novel perceptual computing based unsupervised scoring system. The prowess of the proposed system has been exemplified in a case study of driver's scoring from telemetry data. Our proposed approach yields scores that showed a higher significant separability between drivers performing responsible or irresponsible (aggressive or drowsy) driving behaviors, than the formal method of computing these scores (a p value of 3.94×10-4 and 3.42×10-3, respectively, in a Kolmogorov-Smirnov test). Further, the proposed method displayed higher robustness in the bootstrap test (where 30% of original data were omitted at random) by providing scores that were 90% similar to the original ones for all results within a confidence interval of 95%. © 2020 IEEE.

Image segmentation is a critical step in many clinical applications and is crucial in computer-assisted diagnosis. Segmentation of brain is the technique of automatically recognizing malignant brain tissues and labeling them depending on tumor kind. Manual tumor segmentation using brain MRI was time consuming and prone to inaccuracy. In brain MRI research, image segmentation is commonly used to detect and interpret anatomical features, analyze changes to the brain, identify sick areas, organize therapy and image guided surgery. Over the last few decades, different segmentation methods were developed and published in the research, with varying degrees of detail and difficulty. This study will focus on the most common segmentation methods. To begin addressing the complex details and challenges of the MRI Brain issue, we have introduced fundamental image preprocessing stages and then we have performed Image segmentation. © 2024 IEEE.

Single-Timescale Multi-Sequence Stochastic Approximation Without Fixed Point Smoothness: Theories and Applications

Stochastic approximation (SA) that involves multiple coupled sequences, also known as multiple-sequence SA (MSSA), finds diverse applications in the fields of signal processing and machine learning. However, existing theoretical understandings of MSSA are limited: the multi-timescale analysis implies a slow convergence rate, whereas the single-timescale analysis relies on a stringent fixed point smoothness assumption. In this paper, we establish tighter single-timescale analysis for MSSA, without assuming smoothness of the fixed points. Our theoretical findings reveal that, when all involved operators are strongly monotone, MSSA converges at a rate of O˜(K−1), where K denotes the total number of iterations. When all involved operators are strongly monotone except for the main one, MSSA converges at a rate of O(K− 1/2 ). These rates align with the ones established for single-sequence SA. Applying our novel theoretical findings to bilevel optimization and communication-efficient distributed learning offers relaxed assumptions and/or simpler algorithms with performance guarantees, as validated by numerical experiments. © 1991-2012 IEEE.
