With the proliferation of data-intensive industrial applications, the collaboration of computing powers among standalone edge servers is vital to provision such services for smart devices. In this paper, we propose an edge-driven industrial computing power network (CPN) by orchestrating the computing and network resources of edge servers through the centralized resource scheduling and decentralized task computing. However, efficient task offloading and collaborative processing is challenging, which requires higher degrees of network automation and intelligence. Therefore, we incorporate digital twins (DTs) into the edge-driven CPN architecture, where the DTs are created as the digital replicas to assist both the computation offloading and collaborative processing. A joint optimization problem of the computing power assignment, service association, task partition, and transmit power control is formulated for maximizing the system average weighted utility. Due to the temporal-spatial variability of tasks and the resulted dynamic environment, we transform the original problem as a Markov decision process aiming at maximizing the long-term average weighted utility. To efficiently handle the high-dimensional discrete-continuous action space, a hybrid soft actor-critic based deep reinforcement learning algorithm is developed for optimizing the joint design. Simulation results validate the superiority of our proposed algorithm over the benchmarks, showing the significant gains obtained by integrating DTs into the edge-driven CPN. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Automatic test case generation is critical in software testing because it can significantly reduce testing time and cost while improving the software’s overall quality. One of the critical objectives of test case generation is to improve the coverage of the program, with a focus on achieving a high prime path coverage. In this paper, we suggest a self-adaptive Jaya algorithm for generating test cases that achieve a high coverage of prime paths in software. We conducted a comparative study against a well-established, state-of-the-art approach utilizing eleven Java benchmark programs to evaluate its performance. Our results show that the suggested method achieves a higher average coverage of prime paths than the existing approach.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Recommendation systems play a crucial role in helping college students find job opportunities. However, the sparsity of interactions in employment recommendation for college students poses a challenge for models based on historical user preferences. To address this issue, we propose a novel model called Ensemble Learning based Employment Recommendation under Interaction Sparsity for College Students (EERIS). The model comprises two components: a similarity information component that uses pooled users to determine the nearest neighbor in user similarity measurement, and a global interaction component that uses interaction vectors of user groups to enhance interactions. To evaluate the missing interactions, we propose a loss function called CellLoss. These components are combined based on ensemble learning to improve the model’s generalization and scalability. Our experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate the superior performance of the EERIS model. Ablation experiments further confirm that each component positively contributes to the model’s performance. Additionally, we design a revised metric for better model testing. Overall, the proposed EERIS model effectively addresses the interaction sparsity in employment recommendation for college students and provides satisfactory recommendations to students. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Breast and cervical cancers account for more than 85 percent of all cancer-related fatalities in developing nations, according to the World Cancer Research Fund. As a result, breast and cervical cancer have become one of the leading causes of mortality among women worldwide. This field is still in its infancy, with only a few studies in gynaecology and computer science looking into the detection of breast and cervical cancer. According to the researchers, medical records and early testing from individuals with breast and cervical cancer will be used in this study to determine the prognosis of those suffering from the diseases. To assess our cervical cancer predictions, we employed machine learning models such as Optimized Hybrid Ensemble Classifier (OHEC), which were trained on patient behavior and variables revealed to be associated with patient behavior. The datasets in this study have a substantial number of missing values, and the distribution of those values has been altered as a function of the missing values. OHEC classifier performance has been shown to improve when the number of features is reduced and the problem of high-class imbalance is resolved, because the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the classifier, as well as the number of false positives, were used to demonstrate the success of feature selection in the suggested model's predictive analysis. This has been demonstrated through the use of numerous tests involving categorization challenges. The study underscores the critical significance of early detection and prognosis in combating breast and cervical cancers, which remain leading causes of mortality worldwide. Through the utilization of machine learning models like the OHEC, the authors have demonstrated the potential for improved predictive accuracy and clinical outcomes. In Non-Geostationary Orbit Satellite Networks (NGOSNs) with a large number of battery-carrying satellites, proper power allocation and task scheduling are crucial to improving data offloading efficiency. In this work, we jointly optimize power allocation and task scheduling to achieve energy-efficient data offloading in NGOSNs. Our goal is to properly balance the minimization of the total energy consumption and the maximization of the sum weights of tasks. Due to the tight coupling between power allocation and task scheduling, we first derive the optimal power allocation solution to the joint optimization problem with any given task scheduling policy. We then leverage the conflict graph model to transform the joint optimization problem into an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) problem with any given power allocation strategy. We explore the unique structure of the ILP problem to derive an efficient semidefinite relaxation-based solution. Finally, we utilize the genetic framework to combine the above special solutions as a two-layer solution for the original joint optimization problem. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed solution can properly balance the reduction of total energy consumption and the improvement of the sum weights of tasks, thus achieving superior system performance over the current literature. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

In recent years, time series prediction has become a highly interesting topic in various applied areas, including clinical time series analysis. Hospitals and other clinical healthcare systems collect Electronic Health Records. These records contain important information that needs to be mined. This information provides a solid basis for predicting hospital readmission, helping to improve healthcare, enhance patient outcomes, and optimize hospital resources. This study introduces a novel deep learning attention-based approach for predicting 30-day ICU readmissions using clinical time series information extracted from the MIMIC III dataset. This approach incorporates time-aware positional encoding into the attention mechanism to enhance predictive performance by capturing the temporal representation of data and considering the temporal order of clinical time series data. This model is compared with cutting-edge models. The significant enhancements in the model performance achieved by the proposed method highlight the effectiveness of incorporating time-aware positional encoding in capturing temporal dependencies and improving prediction outcomes. These results underscore the potential of advanced attention mechanisms in clinical time series analysis.

Face recognition (FR) technology has numerous applications in artificial intelligence including biometrics, security,authentication, law enforcement, and surveillance. Deep learning (DL) models, notably convolutional neuralnetworks (CNNs), have shown promising results in the field of FR. However CNNs are easily fooled since theydo not encode position and orientation correlations between features. Hinton et al. envisioned Capsule Networksas a more robust design capable of retaining pose information and spatial correlations to recognize objects morelike the brain does. Lower-level capsules hold 8-dimensional vectors of attributes like position, hue, texture, andso on, which are routed to higher-level capsules via a new routing by agreement algorithm. This provides capsulenetworks with viewpoint invariance, which has previously evaded CNNs. This research presents a FR model basedon capsule networks that was tested using the LFW dataset, COMSATS face dataset, and own acquired photos usingcameras measuring 128 × 128 pixels, 40 × 40 pixels, and 30 × 30 pixels. The trained model outperforms state-ofthe-art algorithms, achieving 95.82% test accuracy and performing well on unseen faces that have been blurred orrotated. Additionally, the suggested model outperformed the recently released approaches on the COMSATS facedataset, achieving a high accuracy of 92.47%. Based on the results of this research as well as previous results, capsulenetworks perform better than deeper CNNs on unobserved altered data because of their special equivarianceproperties.

Enterprises are increasingly adopting Software-Defined Networking (SDN) for advanced infrastructure management, cost reduction, and adaptation to technological challenges. Cloud-based SDN controllers play a pivotal role in ensuring flexibility, security, and scalability. The transition from a single-controller to a multi-controller paradigm in cloud networks not only improves security and availability but also reinforces the overall resilience of SDN. Our scientific study aims to propose a novel approach for deploying SDN networks and to introduce a queueing model for this proposed concept. The work focuses on modeling SDN networks using Markovian stochastic processes, taking into consideration the availability criterion through the multiplicity of SDN controllers at the control layer, specifically utilizing queuing theory. The proposed model brings improvement and optimization compared to existing ones. The evaluation of Quality of Service (QoS), based on response time measurements, has demonstrated the efficiency of the model. Additionally, observing the model through the conducted experiments has led us to conclude that scalability is ensured concerning the multiplicity of controllers. Our model has successfully addressed the multi-criteria constraint and ensured an optimal combination that incorporates cloud concepts, QoS, and multi-controllers. © 2024 IEEE.
