Although the building of quantum computers has kept making rapid progress in recent years, noise is still the main challenge for any application to leverage the power of quantum computing. Existing works addressing noise in quantum devices proposed noise reduction when deploying a quantum algorithm to a specified quantum computer. The reproducibility issue of quantum algorithms has been raised since the noise levels vary on different quantum computers. Importantly, existing works largely ignore the fact that the noise of quantum devices varies as time goes by. Therefore, reproducing the results on the same hardware will even become a problem. We analyze the reproducibility of quantum machine learning (QML) algorithms based on daily model training and execution data collection. Our analysis shows a correlation between our QML models' test accuracy and quantum computer hardware's calibration features. We also demonstrate that noisy simulators for quantum computers are not a reliable tool for quantum machine learning applications. © 2023 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence(AI) systems surpass certain human intelligence abilities in a statistical sense as a whole, but are not yet the true realization of these human intelligence abilities and behaviors. There are differences, and even contradictions, between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. With the goal of achieving general AI, this study contains a review of the role of cognitive science in inspiring the development of the three mainstream academic branches of AI based on the three-layer framework proposed by David Marr, and the limitations of the current development of AI are explored and analyzed. The differences and inconsistencies between the cognition mechanisms of the human brain and the computation mechanisms of AI systems are analyzed. They are found to be the cause of the differences and contradictions between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. Additionally, eight important research directions and their scientific issues that need to focus on braininspired AI research are proposed: highly imitated bionic information processing, a large-scale deep learning model that balances structure and function, multi-granularity joint problem solving bidirectionally driven by data and knowledge, AI models that simulate specific brain structures, a collaborative processing mechanism with the physical separation of perceptual processing and interpretive analysis, embodied intelligence that integrates the brain cognitive mechanism and AI computation mechanisms,intelligence simulation from individual intelligence to group intelligence(social intelligence), and AI-assisted brain cognitive intelligence.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

Modern logistics is facing increasing challenges due to the growing complexity of supply chains, high consumer expectations, and economic and environmental pressures. While predictive analytics, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and massive data, has transformed the ability to forecast trends and risks, its application remains limited by the lack of effective mechanisms to convert these predictions into actionable decisions in dynamic and constrained environments. This paper proposes an innovative hybrid approach that combines advanced predictive models, notably the Temporal Fusion Transformer (TFT), with prescriptive algorithms, such as linear programming and deep reinforcement learning (DRL). The TFT demonstrated superior performance in terms of predictive accuracy (significant reduction in MAE, RMSE, and MAPE), while the prescriptive algorithms optimized complex logistics decisions in real time, even in uncertain environments. This integrated methodology was validated through use cases simulating critical logistics scenarios, such as delivery route optimization. Experimental results show a substantial improvement in operational efficiency, with reductions in costs, lead times and resource utilization. The prescriptive approach made it possible to automate complex decisions, while taking into account multiple constraints, such as costs, lead times and sustainability objectives. By integrating real-time data collected via IoT devices and logistics management systems, this architecture offers a robust, adaptable and scalable solution. It thus meets the requirements of modern logistics by enabling proactive, optimized and resilient decision-making. This research makes a significant contribution by bridging the gap between predictive and prescriptive analysis, while laying the foundations for new applications in the field of intelligent logistics.

Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is a well-known feature-extraction technique for data analytic and pattern classification. As the dimensionality of multimedia data has increased in this big era, it is often to characterize data by tensors. Over the past two decades, researchers have thus explored to extend LDA to the general tensor space, especially in two common ways: LDA of tensors using tensor decomposition methods (by conversion of tensors to matrices) and LDA of tensors built upon the T-product. However, both of the aforementioned approaches have restrictions thereby. A critical problem about how to carry out LDA of arbitrary scatter tensors based on the Einstein product still remains unsolved by the existing methods. Therefore, we propose a novel tensor LDA (a.k.a. TLDA) approach, which can carry out the LDA of arbitrary-dimensional scatter-tensors without any need of tensor decomposition. Besides, for reducing the computation time, we also design a parallel paradigm to execute our proposed TLDA in this work. Numerical experiments conducted over real multimedia data demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed new TLDA in terms of classification accuracy. Moreover, the comparison of the classification accuracies, computational-complexities, and memory-complexities of our proposed novel TLDA scheme and other existing tensor-based LDA methods is made. By leveraging TLDA for high-dimensional feature extraction, segmentation, and user-item interaction data processing, future multimedia recommendation systems can facilitate more accurate, engaging, and satisfactory user experience over the Internet. © 1963-12012 IEEE.

Vehicular network technology has made substantial advancements in recent years in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) has emerged as a novel paradigm with a substantial increase in data exchange within Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). VCC integrates cloud computing, vehicular networking, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. It enables Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), and Vehicle-to-Device (V2D) communication. VCC optimizes vehicle, cloud infrastructure, and IoT resources while addressing significant communication security and vehicle-user privacy challenges. To address these issues, we developed an RFID-based authentication protocol for VCC based on a Henon map using a hash function. In addition, we also incorporated a Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) to resist physical tampering attacks. We validate the protocol's security formally and informally. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used RoR model. We use the Scyther simulation tool to verify the proposed protocol's security against various attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of our protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters such as communication and computation overheads and security attributes. The proposed protocol yields substantial improvements, demonstrating a 40.74% reduction in computation overhead and a 13.03% decrease in communication overhead as compared to related protocols, delivering both enhanced performance and resource efficiency. The analysis demonstrates its capacity to support secure communication in the VCC environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2024 IEEE.

Burst-Sensitive Traffic Forecast via Multi-Property Personalized Fusion in Federated Learning

For distributed network traffic prediction with data localization and privacy protection, Federated Learning (FL) enables collaborative training without raw data exchange across Base Stations (BSs). Nevertheless, traffic across BSs exhibit inherently heterogeneous trend burst and smooth fluctuation properties, but existing FL methods model single-scale series from only one view, which cannot simultaneously capture diverse trend and fluctuation properties, especially distinct burst distributions. In this paper, we propose Personalized Federated Forecasting with Multi-property Self-fusion (P2FMS), which can represent multi-scale traffic properties from different views. With precise multi-property representations, a fusion-level prediction decision is learned for each client in a personalized manner to promptly sense traffic bursts and improve forecasting performance in non-IID settings. Specifically, P2FMS decomposes the traffic series into distinct time scales, based on which, we effectively extract closeness, period, and trend properties from different views. The closeness and period are embedded through global-view representations with spatial correlations, while non-stationary trends are individually fitted from the client-side view. Furthermore, a personalized combiner is designed to accurately quantify the proportion of general fluctuation raws (i.e., closeness and period) and specific trend property in predictions, which enables multi-property self-fusion for each client to accommodate heterogeneous traffic patterns and enhance prediction accuracy. Besides, an alternant training mechanism is introduced to optimize property representation and fusion modules with the convergence guarantee. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that P2FMS outperforms status quo methods in both prediction performance and convergence time. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Real-time Energy Dispatching Strategy for Microgrid Based on Improved SD3 Algorithm

Deep reinforcement learning algorithms has attracted attention in the field of energy management in recent years, which can effectively interact with the environment and learn relevant policies to achieve specific goals. To eliminate Q-value estimation bias, in this paper we propose a real-time energy dispatching strategy for microgrid based on SD3 algorithm, and introduce prioritized experience replay and Huber loss, to develop an improved algorithm, called SD3 with loss-adjusted prioritized experience replay (SD3-LAP). A grid-connected microgrid that includes photovoltaic system, wind turbine, micro-turbine, energy storage system and electrical load is built to simulate the environment and validate the proposed methods. The problem of real-time energy dispatching for microgrid is recast as a Markov Decision Process, which aims to minimize the operating costs under the condition that the constraints of power balance and the upper and lower limits of SOC of the energy storage system are satisfied. Experimental results show that compared with baseline models, the energy dispatching strategies provide by SD3 algorithm and SD3-LAP algorithm are more effective and robust, and the mechanism of LAP is a general purposed plug-in that can effectively improve the performance of related reinforcement learning algorithm. The daily average operating cost of SD3-LAP algorithm and SD3 algorithm are respectively 37.9% and 22.89% lower than TD3 algorithm, while the daily average operating cost of of TD3 algorithm is 21.9% lower than DQN. In addition, compared with the original algorithms, namely SD3, TD3 and DQN, the LAP mechanism reduces respectively the daily average operating cost by 19.5%, 11.7%, and 20.1%. © 2023, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD.
