In the evolving landscape of sequential recommendation systems, the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) is increasingly prominent. However, current attempts typically utilize general-purpose LLMs, which present a mismatch in capability and a large semantic gap relative to the specialized needs of recommendation tasks. To tackle these issues, we introduce RecCoder, an innovative model that reformulates sequential recommendation as a code completion task. This approach leverages the superior reasoning capability of code LLMs as a backbone, aligning well with the requirements of recommendation systems. To bridge the semantic gap, RecCoder creates extra tokens for each item and employs item content to initialize token embeddings. Furthermore, we have developed a suite of Semantic Adaptation Fine-tuning tasks, tailored to enhance the model's acquisition of both content and collaborative semantic information, thus aligning the model's intrinsic capabilities with the unique demands of recommendation tasks. Through extensive testing on three public datasets, RecCoder has shown remarkable improvements over existing models in terms of recommendation accuracy and efficiency. This success highlights the substantial yet previously underexplored potential of code LLMs in improving recommendation accuracy and efficiency, suggesting a promising new direction for future research in this area. Because of the growth of the business sector dealing in the distribution of movies, software, music, and other contents, a very large amount of contents has accumulated. Accordingly, recommendation systems for inducing user requests for contents are more important. In distribution businesses, accurate content recommendations are required to secure and retain users. To establish a highly accurate recommendation system, the recommended contents must be accurately classified. As classification methods, mainly techniques such as naive Bayes, SGD (stochastic gradient descent), and SVM (support vector machine), are utilized. If all of the information on recommended subjects is applied in the classification process, high-level accuracy can be expected, but heavy calculation, a long service time, and low scalability are incurred. Given this inefficiency, effective classification in which the metadata of contents are used is required. Metadata are expressed in the forms of the domain concept, relation, type, and attribute to allow the complicated relations between multimodal data (text, images, and video) to be processed efficiently. Most classification systems use single modal data to express one piece of knowledge for an item in a domain. Single modal data are limited in terms of improving classification accuracy, because they do not include the useful information provided by different knowledge types. Therefore, in this paper, we propose MMCNet, a deep learning–based multimodal classification model that uses dynamic knowledge. The proposed method consists of a classification model that applies the human learning principle-based CNN (convolution neural network) to multimodal data in combination with text and image knowledge. By using a Web robot agent, multimodal data are collected from the TMDb (The Movie database) data set, which includes a variety of single modal data. Cryptocurrency, as a typical application scene of blockchain, has attracted broad interests from both industrial and academic communities. With its rapid development, the cryptocurrency transaction network embedding(CTNE) has become a hot topic. It embeds transaction nodes into low-dimensional feature space while effectively maintaining a network structure,thereby discovering desired patterns demonstrating involved users' normal and abnormal behaviors. Based on a wide investigation into the state-of-the-art CTNE, this survey has made the following efforts: 1) categorizing recent progress of CTNE methods, 2) summarizing the publicly available cryptocurrency transaction network datasets, 3) evaluating several widely-adopted methods to show their performance in several typical evaluation protocols, and 4) discussing the future trends of CTNE. By doing so, it strives to provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of existing CTNE methods from static to dynamic perspectives,thereby promoting further research into this emerging and important field.

Next-basket recommendation (NBR) infers a set of items that a user will interact with in the next basket. Existing methods often struggle with the data sparsity problem, particularly when the number of baskets is significantly large due to diverse user behaviors. Cross-domain recommendation (CDR) can effectively alleviate this problem in NBR by transferring knowledge across different domains. Nevertheless, these methods often rely on the similarities of overlapping users, which leads to the negative transfer problem and ignores the overlapping items that are general in real-world scenarios like chain stores. In this paper, we provide a clear symbolic definition of cross-store recommendation (CSR) and distinguish it from CDR. We also propose a novel CSNBR model for cross-store next-basket recommendation task. To fully model the transferable collaborative information between two stores, we learn the embeddings of users, baskets, and items by two intra-store bipartite graphs, and use an inter-store unified bipartite graph to transfer the previously learned knowledge. Furthermore, to alleviate the negative transfer problem, we propose to reconstruct the inter-store unified bipartite graph by utilizing user embeddings obtained from the transfer layer and the disentanglement layer. We also employ two sequence encoders to model the historical sequential information at basket-level and item-level. Extensive experiments conducted on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the CSNBR model. © 2024 IEEE.

Point cloud-based large scale place recognition is an important but challenging task for many applications such as Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). Taking the task as a point cloud retrieval problem, previous methods have made delightful achievements. However, how to deal with catastrophic collapse caused by rotation problems is still under-explored. In this paper, to tackle the issue, we propose a novel Point Cloud-based Rotation-aware Large Scale Place Recognition Network (RPR-Net). In particular, to solve the problem, we propose to learn rotation-invariant features in three steps. First, we design three kinds of novel Rotation-Invariant Features (RIFs), which are low-level features that can hold the rotation-invariant property. Second, using these RIFs, we design an attentive module to learn rotation-invariant kernels. Third, we apply these kernels to previous point cloud features to generate new features, which is the well-known SO(3) mapping process. By doing so, high-level scene-specific rotation-invariant features can be learned. We call the above process an Attentive Rotation-Invariant Convolution (ARIConv). To achieve the place recognition goal, we build RPR-Net, which takes ARIConv as a basic unit to construct a dense network architecture. Then, powerful global descriptors used for retrieval-based place recognition can be sufficiently extracted from RPR-Net. Experimental results on prevalent datasets show that our method achieves comparable results to existing state-of-the-art place recognition models and significantly outperforms other rotation-invariant baseline models when solving rotation problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Edge computing is regarded as an extension of cloud computing that brings computing and storage resources to the network edge. For some Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications such as supply-chain supervision and collaboration, Internet of Vehicles, real-time video analysis and so forth, users should be authenticated before visiting the geographically distributed edge servers. Limited by the considerable latency between the cloud and edge servers, and the limited capacity of edge servers, it is infeasible to copy the authentication method from cloud servers when users are authenticated in edge servers. In view of this challenge, this paper proposes a novel token-based authentication scheme, named EdgeAuth, that enables fast edge user authentication through collaboration among cloud servers and edge servers. Under the EdgeAuth scheme, edge servers can rapidly verify the credentials of users who have been authenticated by the cloud server. EdgeAuth can also protect users from a series of authentication attacks, for example, the replay attack, DoS attack and man-in-the-middle attack. The results of experiments conducted on a simulated edge computing environment validate the usefulness of EdgeAuth through a comparison in latency and throughput against two baseline schemes. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

User-generated content is daily produced in social media, as such user interest summarization is critical to distill salient information from massive information. While the interested messages (e.g., tags or posts) from a single user are usually sparse becoming a bottleneck for existing methods, we propose a topic-aware graph-based neural interest summarization method (UGraphNet), enhancing user semantic mining by unearthing potential user relations and jointly learning the latent topic representations of posts that facilitates user interest learning. Experiments on two datasets collected from well-known social media platforms demonstrate the superior performance of our model in the tasks of user interest summarization and item recommendation. Further discussions also show that exploiting the latent topic representations and user relations are conductive to the user automatic language understanding. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Gaussian in the Dark: Real-Time View Synthesis From Inconsistent Dark Images Using Gaussian Splatting

3D Gaussian Splatting has recently emerged as a powerful representation that can synthesize remarkable novel views using consistent multi-view images as input. However, we notice that images captured in dark environments where the scenes are not fully illuminated can exhibit considerable brightness variations and multi-view inconsistency, which poses great challenges to 3D Gaussian Splatting and severely degrades its performance. To tackle this problem, we propose Gaussian-DK. Observing that inconsistencies are mainly caused by camera imaging, we represent a consistent radiance field of the physical world using a set of anisotropic 3D Gaussians, and design a camera response module to compensate for multi-view inconsistencies. We also introduce a step-based gradient scaling strategy to constrain Gaussians near the camera, which turn out to be floaters, from splitting and cloning. Experiments on our proposed benchmark dataset demonstrate that Gaussian-DK produces high-quality renderings without ghosting and floater artifacts and significantly outperforms existing methods. Furthermore, we can also synthesize light-up images by controlling exposure levels that clearly show details in shadow areas. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the advancement of computer vision technology, fish recognition plays a crucial role in various fields such as aquaculture processing and disseminating fish knowledge. In this study, we propose an enhanced and lightweight fish recognition algorithm to accomplish fish classification recognition with limited data samples. Based on the ShuffleNet V2 network, we incorporate Transfer Learning and the SE attention mechanism. Additionally, we replace the ReLu activation function with the AM-Softmax activation function. Comparative evaluations are conducted against Resnet50, MobileNet V2, MobileNet V3, and the original ShuffleNet V2 network model. Our experimental findings demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the aforementioned models, resulting in recognition accuracy improvements of 16.01%, 19.05%, 15.04%, and 14.44% respectively. The final recognition accuracy achieved is 97.20%, successfully attaining the desired outcome. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper studies quasi-Newton methods for solving nonlinear equations. We propose block variants of both good and bad Broyden's methods, which enjoy explicit local superlinear convergence rates. Our block good Broyden's method has a faster condition-number-free convergence rate than existing Broyden's methods because it takes the advantage of multiple rank modification on Jacobian estimator. On the other hand, our block bad Broyden's method directly estimates the inverse of the Jacobian provably, which reduces the computational cost of the iteration. Our theoretical results provide some new insights on why good Broyden's method outperforms bad Broyden's method in most of the cases. The empirical results also demonstrate the superiority of our methods and validate our theoretical analysis. © 2023 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.
