Whole-slide image analysis via the means of computational pathology often relies on processing tessellated gigapixel images with only slide-level labels available. Applying multiple instance learning-based methods or transformer models is computationally expensive as, for each image, all instances have to be processed simultaneously. The MLP-Mixer is an under-explored alternative model to common vision transformers, especially for large-scale datasets. Due to the lack of a self-attention mechanism, they have linear computational complexity to the number of input patches but achieve comparable performance on natural image datasets. We propose a combination of feature embedding and clustering to preprocess the full whole-slide image into a reduced prototype representation which can then serve as input to a suitable MLP-Mixer architecture. Our experiments on two public benchmarks and one inhouse malignant lymphoma dataset show comparable performance to current state-of-the-art methods, while achieving lower training costs in terms of computational time and memory load. Multi-modal Image and Radio Frequency Fusion for Optimizing Vehicle Positioning

In this paper, a multi-modal vehicle positioning framework that jointly localizes vehicles with channel state information (CSI) and images is designed. In particular, we consider an outdoor scenario where each vehicle can communicate with only one BS, and hence, it can upload its estimated CSI to only its associated BS. Each BS is equipped with a set of cameras, such that it can collect a small number of labeled CSI, a large number of unlabeled CSI, and the images taken by cameras. To exploit the unlabeled CSI data and position labels obtained from images, we design an meta-learning based hard expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. Specifically, since we do not know the corresponding relationship between unlabeled CSI and the multiple vehicle locations in images, we formulate the calculation of the training objective as a minimum matching problem. To reduce the impact of label noises caused by incorrect matching between unlabeled CSI and vehicle locations obtained from images and achieve better convergence, we introduce a weighted loss function on the unlabeled datasets, and study the use of a meta-learning algorithm for computing the weighted loss. Subsequently, the model parameters are updated according to the weighted loss function of unlabeled CSI samples and their matched position labels obtained from images. Simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce the positioning error by up to 61% compared to a baseline that does not use images and uses only CSI fingerprint for vehicle positioning. This paper presents a real-time method for generating talking-face videos with continuously controllable emotional expressions. We base our method on the insight that emotion information primarily resides in textures, which neural textures, i.e., learned expressive feature maps, can capture. To enable continuous control of facial emotions, we introduce a novel neural network capable of generating emotional neural textures from continuous intensity emotion coding (CIEC) vectors. We employ a parametric 3D face model (3DMM) for emotional neural texture sampling and incorporate a teeth submodule to fill the mouth area cavity. Experimental results, along with a user study, demonstrate that our method surpasses three baseline approaches in producing high-quality talking-face videos with continuously controllable expressions. © 2024, The Authors. Jointly Optimizing Terahertz based Sensing and Communications in Vehicular Networks: A Dynamic Graph Neural Network Approach

In this paper, the problem of vehicle service mode selection (sensing, communication, or both) and vehicle connections within terahertz (THz) enabled joint sensing and communications over vehicular networks is studied. The considered network consists of several service provider vehicles (SPVs) that can provide: 1) only sensing service, 2) only communication service, and 3) both services, sensing service request vehicles, and communication service request vehicles. Based on the vehicle network topology and their service accessibility, SPVs strategically select service request vehicles to provide sensing, communication, or both services. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem, aiming to maximize the number of successfully served vehicles by jointly determining the service mode of each SPV and its associated vehicles. To solve this problem, we propose a dynamic graph neural network (GNN) model that selects appropriate graph information aggregation functions according to the vehicle network topology, thus extracting more vehicle network information compared to traditional static GNNs that use fixed aggregation functions for different vehicle network topologies. Using the extracted vehicle network information, the service mode of each SPV and its served service request vehicles will be determined. Simulation results show that the proposed dynamic GNN based method can improve the number of successfully served vehicles by up to 17% and 28% compared to a GNN based algorithm with a fixed neural network model and a conventional optimization algorithm without using GNNs. Pedestrian trajectory prediction plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of various applications, including autonomous vehicles and traffic management systems. This paper proposes a novel method for pedestrian trajectory prediction, called multi-stage goal-driven network (MGNet). Diverging from prior approaches relying on stepwise recursive prediction and the singular forecasting of a long-term goal, MGNet directs trajectory generation by forecasting intermediate stage goals, thereby reducing prediction errors. The network comprises three main components: a conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE), an attention module, and a multi-stage goal evaluator. Trajectories are encoded using conditional variational autoencoders to acquire knowledge about the approximate distribution of pedestrians’ future trajectories, and combined with an attention mechanism to capture the temporal dependency between trajectory sequences. The pivotal module is the multi-stage goal evaluator, which utilizes the encoded feature vectors to predict intermediate goals, effectively minimizing cumulative errors in the recursive inference process. The effectiveness of MGNet is demonstrated through comprehensive experiments on the JAAD and PIE datasets. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art algorithms reveal significant performance improvements achieved by our proposed method.

Spiking neural networks possess asynchronous, discrete, and sparse characteristics that enable direct processing of event-based tactile sensor data and more efficient transmission of information. These networks have been widely applied in the tactile perception field. However, due to the sparsity of tactile data, these models are prone to generalization issues. Additionally, existing methods for tactile graph construction are constrained when spatially connecting high-dimensional tactile data, making it challenging for the model to fuse and process such information effectively. To address these challenges, we propose the GGT-SNN, which introduces a parameter estimation method with Gaussian priors to alleviate generalization problems caused by sparse tactile data. Furthermore, we design M-tree and Z-tree tactile graph construction methods to compensate for deficiencies of other approaches when handling high-dimensional tactile spatial connections. This approach enhances the model's ability to efficiently process high-dimensional event-driven tactile information. We introduce an approximate LIF neuron activation function to enable backpropagation within the model and comprehensively compare and evaluate its performance against different approximate functions. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method performs significantly better than SOTA methods, exhibiting a 10.83% improvement over TactileSGNet on the EvTouch-Containers dataset and a 2.92% improvement over TactileSGNet on the EvTouch-Objects dataset. © 2024, The Authors. To address the problem of high delay due to the explosive growth of mobile data traffic in consumer electronics network (CEN), in this paper, we investigate the multiple-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled CEN content caching problem, focusing on minimizing content access delay by jointly optimizing UAV deployment, ground user (GU) access, and content caching while satisfying other resource constraints. We propose an algorithm based on alternating optimization for the scenario where multiple UAVs and base station (BS) collaborate to provide caching services. The algorithm attains a sub-optimal solution with a convergence guarantee by iteratively solving the three sub-problems derived from the decomposition of the target problem. First, a convex difference-based algorithm solves the UAV deployment sub-problem. Second, a greedy-based algorithm is used to solve the content caching sub-problem. Then, a continuous convex approximation algorithm based on the penalty function is used to solve the user access sub-problem. Finally, the above procedure is repeated to obtain a sub-optimal solution to the target problem. The proposed joint optimization algorithm is shown to outperform the benchmark algorithms in terms of average content access delay and cache hit ratio, as evidenced by numerical results. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

As computer vision systems have improved, mostly through machine vision progress, people’s views on pictures have changed a lot. In response to this change, the Dynamic AdaptNet project is making an advanced system for analysing pictures that uses data from the surroundings. The manuscripts goals is to offer a full range of features, such as dynamic convolutional neural networks (CNNs), adaptable segmentation, and temporal attention. Standard, Baseline, Enhanced, Advanced, Optimised, and Specialised are some of the choices for the system. Standard is the easiest and most important to use. This study compares and contrasts different methods by checking how well they work based on several factors, such as success, adaptability, and resilience. Independent reviews and comparisons show that Dynamic AdaptNet is a complete tool for real-time picture analysis. This shows that it has the ability to make computer vision better.

In this letter, we propose to employ movable antenna (MA) to enhance covert communications with noise uncertainty, where the confidential data is transmitted from an MA-aided access point (AP) to multiple users with a warden attempting to detect the existence of the legal transmission. To maximize the sum rate of users under covertness constraint, we formulate an optimization problem to jointly design the transmit beamforming and the positions of MAs at the AP. To solve the formulated non-convex optimization problem, we develop a block successive upper-bound minimization (BSUM) based algorithm, where the proximal distance algorithm (PDA) and the successive convex approximation (SCA) are employed to optimize the transmit beamforming and the MAs' positions, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed MAs-aided system can significantly increase the covert sum rate via antenna position optimization as compared to conventional systems with fixed-position antennas (FPAs). Ensuring safety in smart buildings is crucial due to the increasing prevalence of smoke and fire hazards in modern environments. This paper introduces a novel privacy-preserving FL approach based on a CNN1D for smoke and fire detection in smart buildings. Our system integrates data from wearable environmental sensors to train a lightweight, edge-deployable DL-CNN1D model, ensuring data privacy while enabling collaborative learning across distributed clients using Federated Averaging (FedAvg) aggregation. Experiments conducted on a comprehensive air measurement dataset for smoke and fire detection demonstrate exceptional performance, with the global model achieving 99.97% accuracy, 99.96% precision, in smoke and fire recognition. Our model demonstrates a low communication cost of 0.4 MB, underscoring its efficiency for real-time applications. Our FL-based approach represents a significant step towards balancing the need for robust safety systems with growing privacy concerns in smart building environments. © 2024 IEEE.
