It is often the case that data are with multiple views in real-world applications. Fully exploring the information of each view is significant for making data more representative. However, due to various limitations and failures in data collection and pre-processing, it is inevitable for real data to suffer from view missing and data scarcity. The coexistence of these two issues makes it more challenging to achieve the pattern classification task. Currently, to our best knowledge, few appropriate methods can well-handle these two issues simultaneously. Aiming to draw more attention from the community to this challenge, we propose a new task in this paper, called few-shot partial multi-view learning, which focuses on overcoming the negative impact of the view-missing issue in the low-data regime. The challenges of this task are twofold: (i) it is difficult to overcome the impact of data scarcity under the interference of missing views;(ii) the limited number of data exacerbates information scarcity, thus making it harder to address the view-missing issue in turn. To address these challenges, we propose a new unified Gaussian dense-anchoring method. The unified dense anchors are learned for the limited partial multi-view data, thereby anchoring them into a unified dense representation space where the influence of data scarcity and view missing can be alleviated. We conduct extensive experiments to evaluate our method. The results on Cub-googlenet-doc2vec, Handwritten, Caltech102, Scene15, Animal, ORL, tieredImagenet, and Birds-200-2011 datasets validate its effectiveness. Rtecently a lot of works have been investigating to find the tenuous groups,i.e.,groups with few social interactions and weak relationships among members,for reviewer selection and psycho-educational group ***,the metrics(e.g.,k-triangle,k-line,and k-tenuity)used to measure the tenuity,require a suitable k value to be specified which is difficult for users without background ***,in this paper we formulate the most tenuous group(MTG)query in terms of the group distance and average group distance of a group measuring the tenuity to eliminate the influence of parameter k on the tenuity of the *** address the MTG problem,we first propose an exact algorithm,namely MTGVDIS,which takes priority to selecting those vertices whose vertex distance is large,to generate the result group,and also utilizes effective filtering and pruning *** MTGVDIS is not fast enough,we design an efficient exact algorithm,called MTG-VDGE,which exploits the degree metric to sort the vertexes and proposes a new combination order,namely degree and reverse based branch and bound(DRBB).MTG-VDGE gives priority to those vertices with small *** a large p,we further develop an approximation algorithm,namely MTG-VDLT,which discards candidate attendees with high degree to reduce the number of vertices to be *** experimental results on real datasets manifest that the proposed algorithms outperform existing approaches on both efficiency and group tenuity.

Compact Multitasking Multichromosome Genetic Algorithm for Heuristic Selection in Ontology Matching

Ontology matching (OM) is critical for knowledge integration and system interoperability on the semantic web, tasked with identifying semantically related entities across different ontologies. Despite its importance, the complexity of terminology semantics and the large number of potential matches present significant challenges. Existing methods often struggle to balance between accurately capturing the multifaceted nature of semantic relationships and computational efficiency. This work introduces a novel approach, a compact multitasking multichromosome genetic algorithm for Heuristic selection (HS) in OM, designed to navigate the nuanced hierarchical structure of ontologies and diverse entity mapping preferences. Our method combines compact genetic algorithms with multichromosome optimization for entity sequencing and assigning HS, alongside an adaptive knowledge transfer mechanism to finely balance exploration and exploitation efforts. Evaluated on the ontology alignment evaluation initiative's benchmark, our algorithm demonstrates superior ability to produce high-quality ontology alignments efficiently, surpassing comparative methods in both effectiveness and efficiency. These findings underscore the potential of advanced genetic algorithms in enhancing OM processes, offering significant contributions to the broader AI field by improving the interoperability and knowledge integration capabilities of semantic web technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

The environmental approach to urban security acknowledges the importance that spatial and social dimensions of urban environments have for both real and perceived security, emphasizing the need to understand how urban spaces influence human behaviour. Space Syntax offers insights into human behavioural patterns in space by examining the spatial configuration of places and identifying individuals' movement patterns, representing an asset to uncovering underlying spatial dynamics in criminal behaviour, both at the urban and micro-urban scale. The association between Space Syntax and crime patterns is not new, however additional steps should be taken to associate it to environmental criminological theories, which deconstruct the components that contribute to crime occurrence. Considering this, the research delves into the existing correlations between crime distributions and intrinsic spatial properties derived from Space Syntax, using the historic centre of Pisa, Italy, as a case study. Two objectives are set: (1) identifying a comprehensive set of significant measures to explore crime phenomena through a discussion of previous research and an examination of the logic of criminology theories;and (2) to develop and discuss a methodology for linking Space Syntax metrics with crime distribution patterns, and assess correlations between space and crimes, thus identifying risky areas within the urban context. The direction and the strength of correlations between certain type of crime and specific attributes of the environment suggests the existence of a "Spatial Crime Impedance" property: a measure of natural resistance that the urban environment, considering only its spatial configuration and physical layout, opposes to criminal activities. © 14th International Space Syntax Symposium, SSS 2024.

The experiences of urban visitors are frequently captured and shared on various websites and social platforms through reviews and ratings. These "digital footprints" help us understand what visitors think about a certain place. High visitor traffic may stem from the urban layout and configuration, such as the importance of a street, the building characteristic, or the location of the place within an urban settlement. Hence, these digital footprints are shaped by a complex interplay of spatial, emotional, self-organizational, and socio-behavioural factors. This presents us with compelling research questions: To what extent does urban configuration influence these digital footprints? And how exactly does this dynamic play out? This research examines the intricate relationship between urban spatial characteristics and digital footprints in the realm of urban tourism. Our approach taps into Space Syntax metrics and associates them with places, extracted as points of interest from Google Maps API. This framework helps ascertain what is the linkage between urban configuration and visitors’ digital activities, to reveal another layer of social behaviour within the cities. Our research centred on the historic city of Sassi di Matera, Italy, distinguished by its cave dwellings and intricate pathways. Initial findings from our research present significant correlations between Space Syntax metrics and visitors’ reviewing activities at specific places. By correlating the configurational patterns with reviews and ratings, we observed that these places are influenced by surrounding space, and that this situation varies depending on the type of place. © 14th International Space Syntax Symposium, SSS 2024.

The existence of strong correlations between pedestrian flows and Space Syntax metrics, whether in form of Axial Analysis (AA), Angular Segment Analysis (ASA), or Visibility Graph Analysis (VGA), has been extensively discussed. While AA and ASA tend to perform these estimations well, at both architectural and urban scales, critical aspects emerge in the VGA, especially when applied to micro-urban scales. Those can be summarized in the grids’ non-randomness and their spacing, the impact of variations in altitude and the heavy computational workloads required to model visual fields’ relationships in larger areas. Still, VGA is a valuable resource to micro-urban analyses, as it depicts details within areas characterized by wide open spaces or higher morphological complexity that are beyond line-based models’ capabilities, potentially enabling more precise insights into local movement logics. Considering this, the paper proposes an initial methodological discussion on the methods for estimating pedestrian flows at micro-urban scales, comparing different environment extensions, techniques, metrics, and extraction methods. Tests are performed within a 10.000m2 historical district at Pisa, Italy, which aligns with the spatial and morphological characteristics deemed suitable to VGA. Using spatial statistics, measures associated to pedestrian flows are correlated to observed pedestrian traffic passing through 10 gates in a span of three days to highlight what measure gives a better response. This research encourages the exploration of VGA within micro-urban contexts and can be useful to enable a finer-grained comprehension of social logics in space, as many VGA measures seem to be suitable to comprehend pedestrian flows hierarchies. © 14th International Space Syntax Symposium, SSS 2024.

There are several advantages to the MIG(Metal Inert Gas)process,which explains its increased use in variouswelding sectors,such as automotive,marine,and construction.A variant of the MIG process,where the sameequipment is employed except for the deposition of a thin layer of flux before the welding operation,is the AMIG(Activated Metal Inert Gas)*** study focuses on investigating the impact of physical properties ofindividual metallic oxide fluxes for 304L stainless steel welding joint morphology and to what extent it can helpdetermine a relationship among weld depth penetration,the aspect ratio,and the input physical properties ofthe *** types of oxides,TiO_(2),SiO_(2),Fe_(2)O_(3),Cr_(2)O_(3),and Mn_(2)O_(3),are tested on butt joint design withoutpreparation of the edges.A robust algorithm based on the particle swarm optimization(PSO)technique is appliedto optimally tune the models’parameters,such as the quadratic error between the actual outputs(depth and aspectratio),and the error estimated by the models’outputs is *** results showed that the proposed PSOmodel is first and foremost robust against uncertainties in measurement devices and modeling errors,and second,that it is capable of accurately representing and quantifying the weld depth penetration and the weld aspect ratioto the oxides’thermal properties.

This paper proposes a framework called GHVC-Net that uses the graph neural network (GNN) model to approximate each solution's hypervolume contribution (HVC). GHVC-Net is permutation invariant and can handle solution sets of arbitrary size, similar to the properties of GNN. Compared to HVC-Net (i.e., a machine learning model for HVC approximation), GHVC-Net achieves better accuracy with less training time. GHVC-Net is also compared with traditional approximation methods, such as line-based and point-based methods, to demonstrate its ability to identify the solution with the smallest (largest) HVC. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article, we propose a digital semantic feature division multiple access (SFDMA) paradigm in multiuser broadcast (broadcast communication (BC)) networks for the inference and the image reconstruction tasks. In this SFDMA scheme, the multiuser semantic information is encoded into discrete approximately orthogonal representations, and the encoded semantic features of multiple users can be simultaneously transmitted in the same time-frequency resource. Specifically, for inference tasks, we design a SFDMA digital BC network based on robust information bottleneck (RIB), which can achieve a tradeoff between inference performance, data compression and multiuser interference. Moreover, for image reconstruction tasks, we develop a SFDMA digital BC network by utilizing a Swin Transformer, which significantly reduces multiuser interference. More importantly, SFDMA can protect the privacy of users’ semantic information, in which each receiver can only decode its own semantic information. Furthermore, we establish a relationship between performance and signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR), which is fitted by an Alpha-Beta–Gamma (ABG) function. Furthermore, an optimal power allocation method is developed for the inference and reconstruction tasks. Extensive simulations verify the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed SFDMA scheme. © 2014 IEEE.
