This paper proposes a new broadband saturated power amplifier (SPA) with a distributed second harmonic termination supporting multi-band/multi-mode operation. The proposed network is composed of a fundamental matching circuit and multiple second harmonic termination circuits. Due to the multiple harmonic terminations, the proposed PA improves the frequency range where the PA can achieve a high efficiency. The proposed PA is fabricated using a 45 W Cree CGH40045 GaN HEMT. Drain efficiencies of greater than 60% (average 66%) are achieved between about 1.8 GHz and 2.3 GHz (500 MHz bandwidth). When driven with long term evolution (LTE) and two carrier wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signals at DCS1800, PCS1900, and WCDMA bands, the linearity specifications of the corresponding standards are satisfied using the digital predistortion linearization technique, and it attains an efficiency of greater than 30%.

All three, discrete wavelet transform (DWT)-singular value decomposition (SVD) and adaptive tabu search (ATS) have been used as mathematical tools for embedding data into an audio signal. In this paper, we present a new robust audio watermarking scheme based on DWT-SVD and ATS. After applying the DWT to the cover audio signal, we map the DWT coefficients, and apply the SVD, we search for the optimal intensity of audio watermarking by using the ATS. Experimental results show that the watermarking method performs well in both security and robustness to many digital signals processing, such as filtering, cropping, mp3 and random noise.

In this paper, we propose a new motion vector coding scheme using optimal predictor. To improve coding performance of motion vector data, the proposed encoder selects an optimal predictive motion vector that produces minimum bits for the given motion vector. The proposed decoder estimates the optimal predictive motion vector without additional information from encoder for indicating which predictor is used. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is very effective in reducing coded motion vector data since it achieves BDBR (Bjøntegaard Delta Bit Rate) gain of about 4.46% on average compared to the KTA 2.0 software.

Detailed switch-level models of high-pulse-count converters are relatively straightforward to implement using commonly available simulation packages used for digital time-domain simulations and studying of power systems transients. However, such models are computationally intensive due to switching, and could become the bottle-neck for system-level studies with large number of components and controllers. This paper describes approaches for developing dynamic average-value models, i.e., the analytical derivations and parametric modeling. The resulting approximate models do not represent switching but still capture the transient behavior of the original converter circuit. The paper presents the results for 3- and 6-phase rectifiers implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC and Matlab/Simulink and shows that dynamic average models can be very effective. The paper also shows that as the number of pulses/phases increases, so does the complexity of switching pattern that defines the operating modes. ©2009 IEEE.

A potential interconnection network named fully connected cubic network (FCCN) that demonstrates many attractive properties including efficient communication, regularity and small diameter has been proposed by Chang and Wang [Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, 61 (2001) 838-849]. In this paper, we propose a distributed broadcasting algorithm for FCCN(n). The height of the broadcasting tree is less than or equal to the diameter of FCCN(n). It is very simple and easy to be implemented. In fact, it requires only extra two integers included in the message; and as a node receives the message, it costs constant time to decide the neighbors to broadcast in a asynchronous environment.

This paper proposes the self‐timed circuit design. Quasi‐delay insensitive circuit is introduced as asynchronous prototype. The designed circuit focuses on asynchronous processor design. The processor employs asynchronous system bus, asynchronous DMA controller and synchronous interfaces. The system almost completely asynchrony operation except I/O devices and memory interfaces, due to a limitation on the present time devices, the designed has been implemented on spartan‐3E FPGA no. 3S500EFG320 by partitioning each module to prevent place and routing conflict, 100‐Mhz memory frequency connected, and consumes 141, 063 equivalent gate counts. Finally, the timing details of each instruction execution are shown.

Since multiview video coding (MVC) based on H.264/AVC uses a prediction scheme exploiting inter-view correlation among multiview video, MVC encoder compresses multiple views more efficiently than simulcast H.264/AVC encoder. However, in case that the number of views to be encoded increases in MVC, the total encoding time will be greatly increased. To reduce computational complexity in MVC, a fast mode decision using both MB (macroblock)-based region segmentation information and global disparity vector among views is proposed to reduce encoding time. The proposed method achieves on average 40% reduction of total encoding time with the PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) degradation of about 0.05 dB.

An alternative transform based on the correlation of the residual signal is proposed for the improvement of the H.264/AVC coding efficiency. To make use of this alternative transform in video coding, discrete sine transform and integer sine transform are used alternately with integer cosine transform in order to greatly compact the energy of the signal when the correlation coefficients of the signal are relatively low. Therefore, the discrete sine transform and the integer sine transform are suggested to be used in conjunction with the integer cosine transform in H.264/AVC. The alternative transform that selects the optimal transform between two transforms by using rate-distortion optimization in H.264/AVC shows a coding gain compared with H.264/AVC. Based on the experimental results, the proposed method with the discrete sine transform achieves a BD-PSNR gain of up to 0.68 dB compared to JM 10.2 at relatively high bitrates.

E-learning content creation is not an easy task, but its evaluation is even more complex. In order to evaluate if the content is adequate to the studentspsila needs, it would be helpful to know how the student assimilated the learning content, how he/she reacted to it and the period of time spent on the learning object. Besides, considering the different cognitive features of learning and the possibility of adjusting the didactic content, it could help teacherpsilas evaluation in an available online course. This work describes a monitoring system (Msys) able to track the level of utilization of studentpsilas activities, and presents summarized and comparative results to the teacher and to the student. This paper describes how the MSys tool was created using current standards on digital content construction, defining functional requirements of interface to its development, presenting a proof-of concept and how it could be integrate to online learning systems, providing benefits to the teacherpsilas evaluation.

The recent Web technology has been developed by three mainsprings which include integration, virtualization, and socialization. The Web technology provides the increment of the social networking ability. However it deepens the exposure of privacy about personal information as more complicating and difficult problems. Representatively, it is impossible to define and manage the specific relation, so the personal information and interest can be inferred from collecting and summarizing the contents. Also, there are some problems that it is hard to construct the information owner's own social network. Thus this paper proposes the new access control model which enhances the user privacy of the existing access control methods in web 2.0. This method prevents privacy such as personal inclination from being exposed and enables to define and manage the specific relation. By doing this the information owners can construct their social network. This social network can be applied and extended to Web contents.
