This paper presents a total solution on EMG signal-based walking phase recognition for people with lower limb disability. Various environmental factors such as sensed location, walking speed, and ground inclination are taken into consideration in all the phases of signal sensing, feature extraction, feature selection, and classification. Based on analysis on fourteen well-known feature extraction methods in varying environmental situation, this paper proposes a methodology for selecting a good feature set, and then demonstrates effectiveness of the proposed approach with the classification results.

This paper presents a shape prediction algorithm in a noisy video sequence based on pixel representation in the undecimated wavelet domain. In our algorithm for tracking of user-defined shapes in a noisy sequence of images, the amplitude of coefficients in the best basis tree expansion of the undecimated wavelet packet transform are used as feature vectors (FVs). FVs robustness against noise has been achieved through inherent denoising and edge component separation in the best basis selection algorithm. The algorithm uses these FVs to track the pixels of small square blocks located at the vicinity of the object boundary. Searching for the best-matched block has been performed using conventional block matching algorithm in the wavelet domain. Our experimental results show that the algorithm is robust to noise in case of object's shape translation, rotation and/or scaling and can be used to track both rigid and non-rigid shapes in image sequences

The OSGi provides a service platform which ensures the interoperability between heterogeneous technologies and various devices in home network environment. Nowadays, user access control is one of the core parts which should be cleared, but there are no concrete researches yet. So in this paper, we propose a supplemented authorization policy management framework based on RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) for user access control at home network environment in which the OSGi service platform is operated. This paper presents an integrated power system for low-power wireless sensor networks with dynamic efficiency optimization technique. By adaptively resizing power transistors and adjusting switching frequency, system efficiency is enhanced significantly. Theoretical analysis is elaborated to support the proposed technique. A prototype integrated power system for self-powered photovoltaic wireless sensing node was designed and simulated with TSMC 0.35μm CMOS process. With a power range of 0.5μW to 10mW, power efficiency stays above 71%. Tolerance between theoretical and simulated optimal power transistor sizes is less than 6.7%, while that of optimal switching frequencies is less than 5%. The paper gives another solution to minimizing system power in the perspective of power processing. Copyright 2005 ACM.

A maximum-likelihood channel estimator for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication environments, in presence of interference is discussed here. We study a training based scenario, where the channel is estimated based on pilots that precede the transmission of the information. To reduce the number of estimation parameters, we estimate the channel iteratively in timedomain. Since interference from other users provides no useful information we do not estimate parameters of the interference and neither we neglect the affect of the interference instead interference along with Gaussian noise is perceived as non-Gaussian noise. The algorithm assumes no apriori knowledge about the interfering channel and signal at the receiver, further no-assumption on the statistical properties of the interferer is assumed which makes this algorithm robust. The estimated channel information along with the estimated distribution are then utilized to equalize the subsequent data blocks.
