Real-time ore sorting using color and texture analysis

Sensor-based ore sorting is a technology used to classify high-grade mineralized rocks from low-grade waste rocks to reduce operation *** ore-sorting algorithms using color images have been proposed in the past,but only some validate their results using mineral grades or optimize the algorithms to classify rocks in *** paper presents an ore-sorting algorithm based on image processing and machine learning that is able to classify rocks from a gold and silver mine based on their *** algorithm is composed of four main stages:(1)image segmentation and partition,(2)color and texture feature extraction,(3)sub-image classification using neural networks,and(4)a voting system to determine the overall class of the *** algorithm was trained using images of rocks that a geologist manually classified according to their mineral content and then was validated using a different set of rocks analyzed in a laboratory to determine their gold and silver *** proposed method achieved a Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.961 points,higher than other classification algorithms based on support vector machines and convolutional neural networks,and a processing time under 44 ms,promising for real-time ore sorting applications.

With the growing popularity of the Internet, digital images are used and transferred more frequently. Although this phenomenon facilitates easy access to information, it also creates security concerns and violates intellectual property rights by allowing illegal use, copying, and digital content theft. Using watermarks in digital images is one of the most common ways to maintain security. Watermarking is proving and declaring ownership of an image by adding a digital watermark to the original image. Watermarks can be either text or an image placed overtly or covertly in an image and are expected to be challenging to remove. This paper proposes a combination of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and wavelet transforms to obtain a watermarking network for embedding and extracting watermarks. The network is independent of the host image resolution, can accept all kinds of watermarks, and has only 11 layers while keeping performance. Performance is measured by two terms;the similarity between the extracted watermark and the original one and the similarity between the host image and the watermarked one. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

In this paper, we consider a degree sum condition sufficient to imply the existence of k vertex-disjoint chorded cycles in a graph G. Let σ4(G) be the minimum degree sum of four independent vertices of G. We prove that if G is a graph of order at least 11k + 7 and σ4(G) ≥ 12k − 3 with k ≥ 1, then G contains k vertex-disjoint chorded cycles. We also show that the degree sum condition on σ4(G) is sharp. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee Combinatorial Press.

The hardware and software of a computer are controlled by its operating system (OS), which performs essential tasks such as input and output processing, file and memory management, and the management of peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. Application software refers to programs designed for specific purposes, these applications, often freely available and open source, contribute to the rising number of downloads. In the third quarter of 2022, combined downloads from the Apple App Store and Google Play Reached an estimated 35.3 billion. However, the prevalence of insecurity in these applications and technologies heightens the potential for cybercrimes. Protection against unauthorized intruders is crucial in identifying malicious applications. Machine learning (ML) serves as a promising avenue for detecting malware attacks, offering potential solutions to bolster cybersecurity measures. We propose a novel approach utilizing ML to enhance malware detection accuracy by segmenting datasets into distinct groups. Our research employs supervised ML techniques on the CICMaldroid2020 dataset, which includes comprehensive information such as intent actions, permissions, and sensitive APIs. The dataset was partitioned into four groups, each containing 150 features, and analyzed across four experiments to distinguish between attack and benign classes. Our proposed model demonstrated exceptional performance, with the random forest algorithm achieving an accuracy of 98.6% and a precision of 98.75%. These results highlight the effectiveness of our segmentation approach and its significant contribution to advancing malware detection in Android applications, offering a promising direction for future cybersecurity solutions. © 2024 by the authors of this article.

Weakly acyclic games generalize potential games and are fundamental to the study of game theoretic control. In this paper, we present a generalization of weakly acyclic games, and we observe its importance in multi-agent learning when agents employ experimental strategy updates in periods where they fail to best respond. While weak acyclicity is defined in terms of path connectivity properties of a game's better response graph, our generalization is defined using a generalized better response graph. We provide sufficient conditions for this notion of generalized weak acyclicity in both two-player games and n-player games. To demonstrate that our generalization is not trivial, we provide examples of games admitting a pure Nash equilibrium that are not generalized weakly acyclic. The generalization presented in this work is closely related to the recent theory of satisficing paths, and the counterexamples presented here constitute the first negative results in that theory. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a detailed investigation into the development and assessment of a real-time spectrum analyzer implemented on a 65-nm CMOS Technology Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). The analyzer features a developed Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm designed for optimal energy efficiency and minimal area usage, with a structured architecture for low, middle, and high-frequency ranges. Operating at a clock frequency of 14 MHz, the signal is sampled at 65536 Hz to produce a wideband power spectral density represented on a logarithmic scale. Integration with an ADS8881 ADC ensures high-fidelity input, and the output is transmitted to a host computer via a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). The study includes detailed evaluations through pre-synthesis simulation, post-synthesis simulation, and practical implementation on a Nexys4 FPGA board. The proposed FFT algorithm undergoes rigorous simulation at various synthesis stages, providing a nuanced performance analysis. Practical functionality is assessed on the FPGA, offering insights into the behavior of the circuit. The paper also discusses comprehensively the system's power consumption and calculates the maximum area utilization for the 65-nm CMOS technology, providing essential metrics for optimizing power efficiency and physical footprint. © 2024 IEEE.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people globally, with respiratory organs being strongly affected in individuals with comorbidities. Medical imaging-based diagnosis and prognosis have become increasingly popular in clinical settings for detecting COVID-19 lung infections. Among various medical imaging modalities, ultrasound stands out as a low-cost, mobile, and radiation-safe imaging technology. In this comprehensive review, we focus on AI-driven studies utilizing lung ultrasound (LUS) for COVID-19 detection and analysis. We provide a detailed overview of both publicly available and private LUS datasets and categorize the AI studies according to the dataset they used. Additionally, we systematically analyzed and tabulated the studies across various dimensions, including data preprocessing methods, AI models, cross-validation techniques, and evaluation metrics. In total, we reviewed 60 articles, 41 of which utilized public datasets, while the remaining employed private data. Our findings suggest that ultrasound-based AI studies for COVID-19 detection have great potential for clinical use, especially for children and pregnant women. Our review also provides a useful summary for future researchers and clinicians who may be interested in the field. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Data lake metadata management is crucial for clearly describing stored data and ensuring efficient search query results, especially for semi-structured and unstructured data. Moreover, high-quality metadata provides the necessary information for decision-making. Therefore, we propose a new approach called Metadata Management for Data Lakes (MMDL) based on metadata quality and classification. Additionally, we introduce a generic model adapted to the context of a data lake by including data lake zones to identify data location during its lifecycle. The model aligns with the proposed approach and enables the handling of metrics used to evaluate metadata quality and metadata sources for provenance classification. This paper retrieves optical soliton solutions to the dispersive concatenation model with differential group delay that is with Kerr law of nonlinearity. The enhanced direct algebraic method has made this recovery possible. A full spectrum of optical solitons are presented. The intermediary functions that framed the pathway to the soliton solutions are Weierstrass’ elliptic functions and Jacobi’s elliptic functions. The parameter constraints that guarantees the existence of such solitons are also presented. ©2025 Old City Publishing, Inc.
