Cybersecurity Landscape on Remote State Estimation:A Comprehensive Review

FedRec:Trusted rank-based recommender scheme for service provisioning in federated cloud environment

Healthcare systems are gaining popularity because of the advancement of new technology aiding healthcare professional for diagnosis of disease from medical modalities. The detection and classification of disease using AI and its technologies are active research areas in the last decade. Radiologist usually detects stone from the kidney using different imaging like CT scan, MRI scan, and X-ray. For the detection of stone in kidney X-ray images, various segmentation and classification methods are used. These different classification and segmentation methods are used to reduce errors and time of healthcare professional in diagnosis of stone in X-ray image. In this paper, comparison of different algorithms like thresholding algorithm, contour-based algorithm, deep learning algorithms like U-Net, U-Net++, V-Net, V-Net++, and Transformer Net are used for segmentation of stone from kidney X-ray images. The thorough comparison of different deep learning architectures in diagnosing stone from kidney X-ray images is also made in this paper. Most of the papers work on classification of stone from different medical modalities before segmentation which cause data leakage problem. Fault isolation in dynamical systems is a challenging task due to modeling uncertainty and measurement noise,interactive effects of multiple faults and fault *** paper proposes a unified approach for isolation of multiple actuator or sensor faults in a class of nonlinear uncertain dynamical *** and sensor fault isolation are accomplished in two independent modules,that monitor the system and are able to isolate the potential faulty actuator(s)or sensor(s).For the sensor fault isolation(SFI)case,a module is designed which monitors the system and utilizes an adaptive isolation threshold on the output residuals computed via a nonlinear estimation scheme that allows the isolation of single/multiple faulty sensor(s).For the actuator fault isolation(AFI)case,a second module is designed,which utilizes a learning-based scheme for adaptive approximation of faulty actuator(s)and,based on a reasoning decision logic and suitably designed AFI thresholds,the faulty actuator(s)set can be *** effectiveness of the proposed fault isolation approach developed in this paper is demonstrated through a simulation example.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. Medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. Fault-tolerant visual servo control for a robotic arm with actuator faults

The study targets uncertain coupling faults in robotic arm actuators and proposes a new fault-tolerant visual servo control strategy. Specifically, it considers both multiplicative and additive actuator faults within the dynamic of the robotic arm, treating the coupling faults and time-varying disturbances as an aggregate of concentrated uncertainties. A radial basis function neural network-based state observer is introduced to online approximate these concentrated uncertainties, which include fault information, eliminating the need for prior knowledge of faults. Furthermore, a fault-tolerant controller based on a non-singular fast terminal sliding mode is proposed, which separately decouples the nominal quantities and concentrated uncertainties and develops individual adaptive control laws for each. This effectively reduces the detrimental impact of coupled faults and disturbances on the system’s performance, facilitating image feature trajectory tracking control with minimal jitter, high precision, and strong transient response capabilities. The stability of the state observer and the fault-tolerant controller has been substantiated through Lyapunov’s theory. This paper introduces the development of an essential deep-learning model for surveillance systems utilizing high-mounted CCTV or drones. Objects seen from elevated angles often look smaller and may appear at different angles compared to ground-level observations. To improve the detection of small objects, we propose a network incorporating an element-wise multiplication module based on the vanilla Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture. However, traditional transformer models need significant computational resources, which may not be practical for edge devices like CCTV cameras or drones. Therefore, we apply the Attention-Free Transformer (AFT) to reduce computational requirements enabling real-time operation on low-capacity devices. We validate the performance by combining ViT and AFT with the YOLOv5 real-time object detection model. Practical applicability is confirmed by implementing it on the low-capacity device named ODROID H3+. Validation datasets include Autonomous Driving Drone, VisDrone, AerialMaritime, and PKLot, all containing numerous small-sized objects. Experimental results on the VisDrone dataset show that YOLOv5 nano + AFT reduces parameter count by 4.6% while increasing accuracy by 1%, making it an efficient network. The model size is suitable for edge device implementation at 3.7 MB. Similarly, Aerial Maritime and PKLot datasets indicate a decreased amount of parameters and increased accuracy. Hence, the proposed deep learning model is applicable for aerial surveillance systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

A novel deep learning approach for automated grading of knee osteoarthritis severity

Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder that affects the knee joint that causes pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. It is also known as "Degenerative Joint Disease" and is caused by the degeneration of cartilage in the knee joint, leading to bone-on-bone contact and further damage. Knee OA is prevalent in the population, affecting around 22% to 39% of people in India, and there is currently no treatment available that can halt the progression of the disease. Therefore, early diagnosis and management of symptoms are essential to reduce its impact on an individual’s quality of life. To address this issue, have introduced a framework that leverages ConvNeXt architecture, a modernization of ResNets (ResNet-50) architecture towards Hierarchical Transformers (Swin Transformers), to provide accurate identification and classification of knee osteoarthritis. The classification of knee osteoarthritis was done using the Kellgren and Lawrence (KL) graded X-ray images. These images of the damaged knees are preprocessed and augmented, creating a scaled, enhanced, and varied version of the features, thus making the data fitter and more significant for classification. The performance estimation of the proposed strategy is conducted on the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI), a research project focused on knee osteoarthritis that works in partnership with NIH and other private industries to develop a public domain dataset that can facilitate research and evaluation. It involves training the prepared data using various hyper-tuned versions of ConvNeXt. The different fine-tuned results of the ConvNeXt models on each KL Grade are evaluated against the other state-of-the-art models and vision transformers. The comparative assessment of widely used performance measures shows that the proposed approach outperforms the conventional models by generating the highest score for all the KL grades.
