In the application of target tracking based on dynamic convey tree-based collaboration (DCTC) in wireless sensor networks, collisions and interferences among nodes pose a challenge for data aggregation. In this paper, we refine slot allocation to the nodes in dynamic convey tree and design an energy efficient MAC protocol called D-TDMA, which avoids collisions and interferences and allocates contiguous active slots to nodes as far as possible during data aggregation from leaf nodes to a root node. As a result, the energy consumption in switching from sleeping to active state is saved. Simulation results show that D-TDMA not only gets rid of the impact of collisions and interferences among nodes in dynamic convey tree, but also performs similar throughput to that of CSMA-like mechanism where nodes work without active/sleep scheduling strategy. Our protocol outperforms ESR in both energy efficiency and low delay.

To detect internet worm, many academic approaches have been proposed. In this paper, we provide a new approach to detect internet worm. We consider behaviors of internet worm that is different from the normal pattern of internet activities. We consider all network packets before they reach to the end-user by extracting a certain number of features of internet worm from these packets. Our network features mainly consist of characteristics of IP address, port, protocol and some flags of packet header. These features are used to detect and classify behavior of internet worm by using 3 different data mining algorithms which are Bayesian network, Decision Tree and Random Forest. In addition, our approach not only can classify internet worm apart from the normal data, but also can classify network attacks that have similar behaviors to the internet worm behaviors. Our approach provides good results with detection rate over 99.6 percent and false alarm rate is close to zero with Random forest algorithm. In addition, our model can classify behaviors of DoS and Port Scan attacks with detection rate higher than 98 percent and false alarm rate equal to zero.

In this paper, the embedded systems and ZigBee technology are used to build a miner's lamp monitoring and control system. This miner's lamp monitoring and control system is composed of a central control station and a number of miner's lamp charging nodes. The central control station of miner's lamp monitoring and control system is constructed with the embedded microcontrollers S3C2410A based on ARM9, the chip CC2430 having ZigBee wireless communication technology and the corresponding interface circuit; The chip CC2430 including 8051, sampling circuit and the corresponding sensors are used to construct miner's lamp node. Zigbee is used to communicate wireless between central control station and miner's lamp node. This system achieves monitoring and control of the state of charge on the miner's lamp, and the high effective control and management on use of miner's lamp. Its functionality, the hardware circuit design, bottom drivers design, operating system transplant, and user program design are analyzed in this paper; this system effectively improved the reliability of miner's lamp charging system and the intelligence level of miner's lamp management.

In this paper, a novel design method for two band antenna using monopole antenna with Sperrtopf for mobile communication and Digital communications System is presented. We made a trial two-band antenna, with operating frequencies of 800MHz and 2.04 GHz, and examined the design method by the comparing measured VSWR of the antenna with the simulation results using simulation soft WIPL-D Microwave and Nec-2. The simulation results of the VSWR were in good agreement with the experimental results.

Directional sensor networks have been increasingly deployed in various contexts or environments such as banks, warehouses and museums. Directional sensors, in contrast to normal omnidirectional sensors, are characterized with limited sensing angles, and their sensing region is thus usually modeled by sectors. This paper considers the provisioned deployment of directional sensors for covering a fixed number of stationary discrete targets in a two-dimensional field. Minimizing the number of directional sensors used is desirable for financial concerns. Such minimization is formulated as an Integer Linear Programming problem, which is then proved to be NP-complete. Subsequently, three approximation algorithms named Induction, LP-based and Randomized are proposed in turn. Finally simulation results are given to compare the performance of the three approximation algorithms as well as the classic greedy algorithm.

Transition metal-doped ZnS materials have received broad attention due to their well-known performance in electronics and optics. It has been observed previously by other researchers that Mn is one of interesting dopant. This dopant inside of ZnS offers a feasible means of fine tuning band gap. Because of this property, we interested to study the effect on electrical part. Hence, the aim of this work is discussed in term of electrical dark conductivity and photoconductivity of ZnS: Mn. Zn (1-x) Mn x S samples with various x values (0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.35) are synthesized by using sol gel spin coating method. Surface morphology and I-V characteristics of the samples are investigated by using FE-SEM and dc electrical measurement with and without UV exposure. It is found that the average diameters are between 25 and 27 nm. The increase of Mn site doping concentration leads to an increase of the electrical dark conductivity and photoconductivity of the samples. Moreover, we have found that the current increases greater with the increment of Mn concentration by using UV source.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs); routing protocols are one of the main issues in existing research. These protocols make the best use of limited resources, particularly the energy efficiency and effectiveness of data dissemination. Few of them discuss security issues in homogenous sensor networks which consume much power, have poor performance limits and less scalability. In order to attain the high performance, we have chosen heterogeneous sensor networks (HSNs) model. In this paper, we are addressing secure data routing (SDR) scheme based on cryptography for heterogeneous sensor networks. We have incorporated following mechanism in SDR scheme: 1) symmetric-session based key system is proposed, which change session key after session expire; 2) efficient secure data routing scheme is proposed; 3) cluster-head selection technique is discussed. This is a novel scheme for non-secure sensor network application. In addition, we devote special attention to facilitate the secure routing against some popular attacks, such as: sinkhole, wormhole, sybil and selective forwarding attacks.

Multi-channel delivery is one competitive solution to reduce channel change time in IPTV. We presented the performance analysis on finite duration multi-channel delivery method in our previous work, when channel changes are sequential and adjacent. In this paper, we develop mathematical models to evaluate the performance of this method when channel change happens randomly. This in fact generalizes the previous model. We find that, in typical setup, a delivery duration of 20 seconds is enough to reduce the channel change time by 47.5%, yet the peak bandwidth increase on carrier's uplink is 66.7%. This indicates that the finite duration multi-channel delivery method can improve viewers' experience effectively when channel changes are random.

Wireless Industrial communications is emerging technology after the Fieldbus in industrial field. Since the industrial control application is needed in wireless industrial technologies, WIA-PA standard is defining the protocol suite, system management, gateway, and security for low-data-rate wireless connectivity with fixed, portable, and moving devices supporting limited power consumption requirements. This paper presents the security architecture and security protocol based on WIA-PA. Furthermore, we design and implement the security communication services. Finally, the test results illustrate that these security measures may enhance the security reliability of the WIA-PA network communication.
