The more professional licenses, the more jobs for student can easily get in Taiwan. It is very important to promote some professional certification for students in vocational education. In this paper, we used the rule-space model to diagnose the cognitive skills for assessment evaluation and also considered the user's relevance feedback to improve the learner's learning achievement in ITE (Information Technology Expert) course. The rule-space model approach supports cognitive analysis of student's network technologies skill. And then to comprehensive what learning tops are weaknesses or strengths by individuals. The learner's relevance feedback provided user's evaluation that contained the item difficulty. We implemented a Web testing application for ITE testing simulation. In our experiences, this approach can provide to understand the learning characteristic for e-learning achievement and to explore better educational application. The learner can fit Self-Regulation processing of the Scaffolding Theory and achieving social learning effectiveness, simultaneously.

The paper proposes a multi-rate supported power control, named MRPC, MAC protocol to avoid the LIRC (Large Interference Range Collision) problem for wireless ad hoc networks. The main concept of the MRPC protocol is to protect the current reception by means of the carrier-sensing range of the previous transmission to cover the induced interference range of the current reception. Based on the concept, MRPC formulates the requirements of a successful transmission and figures out the appropriate power strength for transmissions. Furthermore, since the threshold values of SNR and receiver sensitivity values are changed with the data transfer rates, MRPC also takes the different threshold values in multi-rate environments into consideration in formulating these requirements. MRPC can reduce the energy consumption and increase the spatial reuse due to the controlled transmission power. It is further shown that MRPC can also work correctly in multi-rate environments. Simulation results show that MRPC performs much better than the related work in terms of network throughput as well as the energy efficiency.

In this paper we propose two mutual authentication protocols for RFID systems. Generally, in RFID systems, a reader can authenticate tags in the real-time and batch modes. This paper proposes the first authentication protocol for the real-time mode. It also proposes an efficient robust mutual authentication protocol for the batch mode. Some significant characteristics of the protocols are forward security, tag anonymity, location privacy, low complexity on the back-end server, and scalability. To the best of our knowledge, our protocols offer the most enhanced security features in RFID mutual authentication protocols with respect to user privacy. In analyzing the protocols, we show how remarkable properties such as forward security and tag anonymity are guaranteed. It is also illustrated that our protocol is secure against several common attacks that RFID systems confront with.

Thermal noise is generated naturally by thermal agitation of electron in a conductor commonly found in optoelectronic (O/E) device. In spite of the optical medium is totally immune to noises but it is not exception to occur in receiver parts. In communication, thermal noises have major influenced to the quality of receiver. It is directly proportional to the resistance and temperature. The lower the thermal noise the higher and expensive is this receiver sensitivity. The paper starts comprehensive study on thermal noise effect to the network performance in terms of bit-error rate (BER), maximum Q-factor, eye height, and maximum distance. Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network is used as a test field to study the impact of two different values of thermal noise to the network parameters. We use the receiver sensitivity fixed at -22 dBm to study and analyze the parameters. The Opti-System simulation is used to obtain the desired research objective.

An optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) is an instrument that used to measure parameters such as attenuation, length, connectors and splice losses, reflectance level and locating faults in an optical link. The measurement results are saved in OTDR and then transfer into computer for further analysis by using computerbased emulation software for performing more OTDR trace processing. In this paper, we proposed and demonstrated a new in-line monitoring and testing system based on Line Monitoring Device (LMD) and Centralized Failure Detection System (CFDS) for transmission surveillance and failure detection without affecting the transmission in an optical access network. LMD is passive device for optical signals tapping purpose;meanwhile CFDS is a centralized monitoring and troubleshooting solution with the GUI processing in MATLAB software. The LMD network will be analysis through both programs by means of OTDR installed software and our CFDS. The results are eventually compared and show both are reliable with the second is able to be extended for further analysis. Any fiber failure or breakdown occurs in the network will be determined by CFDS while the LMD is used to determine sharply the point of failure before it is been repaired. The proposed systems are able to improve the service reliability and reduce the repairing cost and time.

An operational model was developed for forecasting ionospheric variations and storms at Kokubunji (35° N, 139° E), 24 hours in advance, by using a neural network. The ionospheric critical frequency (foF2) shows periodic variabilities from days to the solar cycle length and also shows sporadic changes known as ionospheric storms caused by geomagnetic storms (of solar disturbance origin). The neural network was trained for the target parameter of foF2 at each local time and input parameters of solar flux, sunspot number, day of the year, K-index at Kakio-ka. The training was conducted using the data obtained for the period from 1960 to 1984. The method was validated for the period from 1985 to 2003. The trained network can be used for daily forecasting ionospheric variations including storms using prompt daily reports of K-index, sunspot number, and solar flux values available on-line.

Novel fault-tolerant architectures for bit-parallel polynomial basis multiplier over GF(2^m), which can correct the erroneous outputs using linear code, are presented. A parity prediction circuit based on the code generator polynomial that leads lower space overhead has been designed. For bit-parallel architectures, the Moreover, there is incorporation of space overhead only marginal time error-correction is about 11%. overhead due to capability that amounts to 3.5% in case of the bit-parallel multiplier. Unlike the existing concurrent error correction (CEC) multipliers or triple modular redundancy (TMR) techniques for single error correction, the proposed architectures have multiple error-correcting capabilities.

In recent years, one of alternatives for constructing RFID networks that provide mobile services is using wireless sensor networks (WSN) to enhance network capacity,utility and scalability. Due to absence of compatible reader anti-collision control and channel capture phenomenon, the medium access control protocols as used in the RFID networks lead to reader collision and starvation problem. In this paper, we develop a MAC protocol which is called enhanced collision avoidance MAC (ECO) to avoid reader to reader collisions in an integrated RFID network. ECO is a CSMA-based MAC protocol, and operates on integrated nodes which consist of a RFID reader and a mote. Performance evaluation shows superior results to pure-CSMA protocols under dense deployment environments, both in number of failures and in throughput.
