Fiber to the home (FTTH) network security has become a very essential and important topic for optical network. Fault isolation became important issues in order to provide an efficient FTTH network and simultaneously will provide continuous services to the end user without being interrupted by any failure in fiber line. Protection scheme against the failure in distribution fiber line is carried out using our protection and restoration scheme. This paper focused on the implementation of automatic device switching to perform in restoration scheme located at distribution fiber section. This protection device is potentially will improve the system efficiency in order to provide the continuous data flow until it reach to the end user. We implement for immediate split structure in Fiber to the Home (FTTH-EPON) network when the signal is totally split when it pass through the optical splitter. Automatic Protection Unit (APU) is an automatic switching device designed as a package that offered for the ease of customer to perform security and self restoration at the end user side. While in this paper also includes the power penalty analysis for optical switch cascaded in our network protection design according to the APU device.

This paper focused on developing a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network management software tool named Smart Access network Testing, Analyzing and Database (SANTAD) ver 2.0 based on Visual Basic for transmission surveillance and fiber fault identification. SANTAD will be installed with optical line terminal (OLT) at central office (CO) to allow the network service providers and field engineers to detect a fiber fault, locate the failure location, and monitor the network performance downwardly from CO towards customer residential locations. SANTAD is able to display the status of each optical network unit (ONU) connected line on a single computer screen with capability to configure the attenuation and detect the failure simultaneously. The failure information will be delivered to the field engineers for promptly actions, meanwhile the failure line will be diverted to protection line to ensure the traffic flow continuously. The database system enable the history of network scanning process be analyzed and studied by the engineer.

Traditional MANET routing protocols are quite susceptible to link failure as well as vulnerable to malicious node attack. In this paper, we propose a novel protocol called Position based Opportunistic Routing (POR) which takes full advantage of the broadcast nature of wireless channel and opportunistic forwarding. The data packets are transmitted as a way of multicast (which is actually implemented by MAC interception) with multiple forwarders. A forwarder list determined by previous hop according to local position information is inserted into the IP header and the candidates take turn to forward the packet based on a predefined orders. This redundancy and randomness make it quite efficient and robust. In addition, inherited from position based routing, POR's control overhead is almost negligible which justifies its good scalability. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that POR not only achieves outstanding performances in normal situations but also yields excellent resilience in hostile environments.

Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network system can transmit signal at a high speed level such as transmitting video, data and voice signals to the users. However, we do not know whether the send signals are in a good condition or not. Therefore, a community access television, CATV tester device is needed. An upgrading from first generation CATV tester unit, a wireless technology is applied through the implementation of audio video transmitter and receiver. This tester will display the received signal on the display panel, if the signal received by the CATV tester device is accompanied by undesired signals and noises, it will then indicate that the main (FTTH trunk line) is probably damaged and needed to be repaired. With the application of wireless technology, video signal that is transmitted through fiber optic cable located in the underground can be simply detected and determined whether it is functioning or not. An addition of solar panel as battery charger for power saving is also applied.

This paper presents a interactive mobile robot. The proposed mobile robot is implemented under the technique of mixed reality. The mixed reality technique is implemented by both the Virtools tool and mobile robot. There are three basic interactive behaviors of human beings have been implemented on this proposed mobile robot. There are target navigation behavior, face tracking behavior, and obstacles avoidance behavior; the three behaviors are designed by the fuzzy rules, respectively. The virtual reality environment is used to implement the arbitrator of the behaviors and to choose the behavior rules for dynamic environment changing. Experiments show that the proposed behaviors are well designed. The proposed robot system and control rules are been conducted in good performance and good reliabilities.

Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network system is used to transmit video, data and voice signals to users at a high speed level. Therefore, good signals are essential. Thus, to monitor the condition of the signals, a CATV tester device is needed. CATV tester device is designed to measure the CATV signals which are passing through the optical network unit (ONU) at the user's premises. A single mode optical fiber signal entering the ONU will be obtained by `tapping' method and the signal then will be fed into the CATV tester unit through optical cable connection. The signals will be converted into audio/video signal and be fed to display panel. This tester will display the received signal on the display panel; if the signal received by the CATV tester device is accompanied by undesired signals and noises, video displayed would degrade; it will then indicate that the main (FTTH trunk line) is probably damaged and needed to be repaired.

T wave alternans (TWA) has been associated with ventricular arrhythmias. Hence, TWA detection can risk stratify patients with heart disease who may experience sudden death from ventricular arhythmias. However, accurate TWA detection is technically challenging due to the low microvolt TWA signal and the confounding effect of biological noise such as movement, myopotentials or respiration. In this paper, we propose nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF)-Adaptive spectral method to increase the robustness of TWA detection in ambulatory electrocardiograms (ECGs). The proposed method applies a non-linear time-frequency (TF) analysis and NMF to the aligned ST-T waveforms. This method separates the TWA signal from the other non-desired ECG signal components, and detects TWA with high accuracy. The performance of our proposed method is validated in a clinical study using ECGs which confirms a TWA detection of 92% compared to 47% using the conventional spectral method.

Traditional time-frequency (TF) signal representations are not appropriate for parametric analysis of most real world signals. In this study, we describe adaptive time-frequency distribution (TFD) as a robust approach to TF signal decomposition for non-stationary signal processing. This approach has not been utilized for TF signal analysis other than feature extraction. We introduce T wave alternans (TWA) analysis as a new application for this approach. In order to test the robustness of the proposed technique, we challenge it under conditions of non-stationary dynamics that are expected with real world TWA. The results of the numerical simulation support the effectiveness of this approach for TWA estimation.

Today's networks are facing more and more serious large-scale network attack such as worm and botnet. While such attacks can't and shouldn't be reproduced in the real network, network simulation is become more and more popular during the research. As the prerequisite of network simulation, topology partition influences the performance of simulation significantly. We suggest a new topology partition algorithm in parallel network simulation. This algorithm is a kind of agglomerative hierarchical clustering methods based on link coarsening. The experiment shows that our algorithm can finish partition on current computers in acceptable time for even around millions of vertices. Furthermore, the links between different sub-domains are fewer and the connectivity in each sub-domain is also guaranteed. Compared with the results of KMETIS, the new algorithm can reduce the edgecut more than 90% in general.
