In order to improve personal data security in the electronic commerce, and to avoid information exposing of personal privacy, personal data was used as the encrypted principle, applying homomorphism and random perturbation to strengthen personal data security. This paper analyze the usage of personal data in electronic commerce firstly, then discuss the P3P to realize security of personal data. This mechanism cannot guarantee that Web sites do act according to their policies once they have obtained user's personal data. In light of this, a new algorithm was used to acquire improved security. The proposed algorithm uses homomorphism as principle to preserve privacy. This method can make the important data to be appeared with secret content in the web service, and prevent personal data from being misused. The simulation results proved that the modified method can protect personal privacy effectively, and can carry on data mining to provide the characteristic service for the customer, and modified method has shorter response time.

This paper proposes two real-time control mechanisms, distributed real-time control with regulating buffer threshold (DRC-RBT) and adaptive distributed realtime control (ADRC), for minimizing the packet jitter. To obtain the reliable results we also construct two platforms of testbeds, wireless and wired, to evaluate the proposed mechanisms. The implemented wireless testbed has been suitably applied in the case of small networks, composed of four mobile nodes, for manageability. In contrast, by using an emulator gateway to model ad-hoc environments, the wired testbed has been applied in case of larger networks possibly with consideration of node mobility. Experimental results reveal that each of the proposed methods performs well in different situations. In static network that packet delay is not significant, DRC-RBT is a preferable method; however, this method can serve only the incoming traffic of constant bit rate nature. On the other hand, by appropriately adjusting the assigned weight value of average delay in ADRC, the obtained numerical tests suggest that ADRC can operate efficiently in both static and dynamic network scenarios.

Ji et al improved ***'s PayWord protocol based on hash chains and proposed a micropayment protocol which had better features on security and fairness, but it did not solve the problems of malicious overdraft and timeliness. Furthermore its efficiency and security was restricted by the inherent shortcoming of conventional hash chains. The paper proposes an authentication protocol for M-commerce based on SelfUpdating Hash Chains scheme, and designs a micropayment protocol. The protocols fit scenario of micropayment such as information commodity between a mobile user and a fixed service provider. The analyses show that the proposed authentication protocol needs fewer messages to authenticate mobile user in the foremost time, session keys are negotiated efficiently, as well as fine-authentication is *** proposed protocols do not only solve the problems existed in Ji's protocol, but also have better features on security, efficiency and fairness.

Voice over IP (VoIP) has experienced tremendous growth in recent years due to its low cost and flexible service enhancement. However, it is vulnerable to security attack. The most popular solution to providing secure VoIP service is based on the advanced encryption standard (AES). The practice for AES-based solution is to adopt a common secret key negotiated during a VoIP call setup phase. This single common key solution is, however, vulnerable to many kinds of attacks. In this paper, we propose a distributed multi-key solution which dynamically changes the encryption key based on the Diffie-Hellman algorithm to provide more secure protection for an end-to-end VoIP call. The proposed mechanism does not need to renegotiate new keys during a call and is robust to network dynamics and packet losses. Most importantly, it incurs small delay overhead comparable to the solutions with encryption protection. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated via laboratory experiment, and validated by some security analysis.

As more and more clusters with thousands of nodes are being deployed for high performance computing (HPC), fault tolerance in cluster environments has become a critical requirement. Checkpointing and rollback recovery is a common approach to achieve fault tolerance. Although widely adopted in practice, coordinated checkpointing has a known limitation on scalability. Severe contention for bandwidth to storage system can occur as a large number of processes take a checkpoint at the same time, resulting in an extremely long checkpointing delay for large parallel applications. In this paper, we propose a novel group-based checkpointing design to alleviate this scalability limitation. By carefully scheduling the MPI processes to take checkpoints in smaller groups, our design reduces the number of processes simultaneously taking checkpoints, while allowing those processes not taking checkpoints to proceed with computation. We implement our design and carry out a detailed evaluation with micro-benchmarks, HPL, and the parallel version of a data mining toolkit, MotifMiner. Experimental results show our group-based checkpointing design can reduce the effective delay for checkpointing significantly, up to 78% for HPL and up to 70% for MotifMiner.

High computational power of commodity PCs combined with the emergence of low latency and high bandwidth interconnects has escalated the trends of cluster computing. Clusters with InfiniBand are being deployed, as reflected in the TOP 500 Supercomputer rankings. However, increasing scale of these clusters has reduced the mean time between failures (MTBF) of components. network component is one such component of clusters, where failure of network interface cards (NICs), cables and/or switches breaks existing path(s) of communication. InfiniBand provides a hardware mechanism, automatic path migration (APM), which allows user transparent detection and recovery from network fault(s), without application restart. In this paper, we design a set of modules; which work together for providing network fault tolerance for user level applications leveraging the APM feature. Our performance evaluation at the MPI layer shows that APM incurs negligible overhead in the absence of faults in the system. In the presence of network faults, APM incurs negligible overhead for reasonably long running applications.

Wireless communication systems often require multiband receivers. The multiband operation is controlled by the voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). MOSFET switches are commonly used in the switched capacitor array in multiband VCOs, but the noisy MOSFET switches have a great impact on the phase noise performance of the system. This paper presents a thermally actuated MEMS switch used in a differential Colpitts VCO. The phase noise performance is 21 dB better than MOSFET switched VCO circuit.

A vision-based traffic detection method at nighttime based on entropy measurement is proposed. Due to limited precision and complicate impact factors exist at night time, the impacted factors beams and reflected lighting should be firstly eliminated. After then, the vehicular tail/heading lighting will be the only underlying features to represent the detected vehicle. The exponential entropy of the measured area is then computed. Finally, the Fourier analysis is applied to extract the fundamental entropy value and the ripple factor as the basis to detect traffic. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and validity of our proposed method.

This paper points out relevant issues of object inheritance in the context of SCORM/CORDRA research communities. We propose a mechanism, as well as an implemented prototype system, that can be used to support searching and reusing of learning objects formed by a reusability tree in repositories. The underlying repository to store learning objects is constructed based on the architecture defined as CORDRA. We integrate the authoring tool, the LMS, and the repository as a total solution to SCORM-based distance learning. The proposed MINE registry served as an instance of CORDRA-based repository is also discussed.

This paper presents the piecewise Lyapunov functions based the delay- independent H infin controller design for a class of time-delay T-S fuzzy system. First, we apply a piecewise observer to estimate the states. Then, a piecewise delay-independent H infin controller is designed to guarantee the H infin performance. Subsequently, the problem of control design is characterized in terms of two LMIs, one for the control gain and the other for observer gain, and the LMIs can be effectively solved by convex optimization technique. Simulation results demonstrate the applicability and the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
