This paper presents the design and dimensioning optimization of a novel optical network structure, called the Petaweb, having a total capacity of several Pb/s (10 15 bit/s). Its topology is a superimposition of stars that drastically eases signaling and switching operations. Firstly, we deal with the network model, focusing on the insertion of the time-sharing of the optical channel in network components and in lightpath provisioning. The design problem is jointly a network dimensioning and an assignment problem; we propose for the dimensioning an integer linear programming formulation and a linear resolution algorithm for the assignment. We also propose the use of a quasi-regular topology extracted from the optimized regular topology to reduce costs and improve the network utilization.

In this paper, we propose a class of robust multiuser detection (MUD) techniques for multi-carrier (MC) code-division multiple-access (CDMA) by explicitly taking into account prior estimation errors in the initial channel estimates and the sample covariance matrix. Specifically, robust MUD detectors are developed by optimizing the worst-case performance over two separate bounded uncertainty sets pertaining to the aforementioned estimation errors. We have shown that, although the prior estimation errors are generally not bounded, it is beneficial to optimize the worst-case performance over properly chosen bounded uncertainty sets determined by a bounding probability of user choice. Numerical results show that the proposed robust schemes yield improved performance over those that ignore the prior estimation errors

At present, mobile multimedia services such as sports information and mobile TV services have been delivered over point-to-point connections. But it is clear that the point-to-multipoint connections can support these mobile multimedia services more efficiently because they can simultaneously transmit data packets from a single source to multiple destinations in a multicast group. Recently, the simulcast scheme for multimedia broadcast and multicast service (MBMS) in which the same signal is transmitted from all the cells within the system, has been proposed, but, in order to adopt this technology, the same channel bands or time slots for only broadcast/multicast service should be reserved at all cells. The reservation of these resources may not be suitable for services in a local region, and some operators may also not be easy to reserve these resources. So, in this paper, we propose multicast strategies which make multicast resources easily multiplex with unicast resources and enhance cell-capacity by improving the performance of cell-boundary users. In addition, we mathematically analyze the link-level performance and cell throughput of conventional and proposed schemes, and discuss their numerical results

The paper proposes an asymmetric half-bridge flyback-forward (AHBFF) isolated converter. Compared with the conventional AHB converter with a center-tapped rectifier, the converter has simpler transformer winding structure and better transformer window utilization. Compared with the AHB converter with a current doubler rectifier, the filter inductor has better utilization and simpler structure, which is favorable for lower output current applications. Experimental results based on an industry-stand 16th brick power module designed with the proposed converter shows that the converter has good performance and is compatible with the state-of-the-art active-clamp forward converter

IPSec provides Maturity solutions to various network based applications i.e., web applications. Implementing the, IPSec in network layer includes significant bandwidth and processing time, overhead to application traffic. The upperlayer protocols such as TCP and UDP behaviour is also influenced by these overheads. In war work, we have studied the impact of IPSee on the metrics: Round Trip Time, Average Burst Size and Available Bandwidth for IPv4 and IPv6 network ***-MD5 authentication algorithm, advanced encryption standard encryption algorithm, and deflate comperession algorithm are used for the protocols of IPSec. From the characterized metrics and computed overheads we analyze tile impact of IPSec on connection handling capacity of web application servers by considering the user behaviour on web page requests.

In this paper, we fabricated high-Q inductors on anodized aluminum substrate using low-k benzocyclobutene (BCB) as an interlayer and thick Cu plating process. The 2 nH inductors on 80 mum anodized aluminum have Q-factor as high as 30 at 2 GHz and self-resonant frequency as high as 11 GHz. Anodized aluminum substrate is useful and cost-effective for high power packaging because of high thermal conductivity. Image current arises on anodized aluminum substrate because aluminum as a conductor is closely located below spiral inductors on anodized aluminum (Al 2 O 3 ) layer. Inductances of spiral inductors were calculated considering image current through Grover's method. Thus, the influence of image current on inductance confirmed through quantitative analysis

The dwelling control system enables an inhabitant to monitor, control and obtain information on the statuses of power, heat, water supply and other equipment located in the house. The system allows taking care of a dwelling remotely, improving security of a dwelling and reduce costs and time required for dwelling maintenance. For control different controllers able to transfer information and receive commands by short messages (SMS), mobile phone with WAP, Internet and etc. frequently are used. When selecting communication channel it is also important to assess its reliability and message transmission time, since that determines the efficiency of the dwelling security

We present the design of a wide-band low-noise amplifier (LNA) implemented in 0.35 μm SiGe BiCMOS technology for cable and terrestrial tuner applications. The LNA utilizes current injection to achieve high linearity. Without using inductors, the LNA achieves 0.1-1 GHz wide bandwidth and 18.8 dB gain with less than 1.4 dB of gain variation. The noise figure of the wideband LNA is 5 dB, and its 1 dB compression point is -2 dBm and IIP3 is 8 dBm. The LNA dissipates 120 mW of power with a 5 V supply.

Dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) is an attractive method for the efficient use of network resources in all-optical networks. We present a novel fixed alternate routing method referred to as overlap-degree aware (ODA) routing in all-optical network. The authors believe that in order to minimize the blocking probability, it is important to consider not only the consumption of wavelength resources but also the existence of the other flows when a routing decision is made. Our simulation results show that our new routing algorithm outperforms fixed-alternate routing (FAR) and weighted least congestion routing (WLCR) from the viewpoint of call blocking probability.

National Institute of Information and Communications Technology of Japan (NICT) completed a project on new-generation mobile communications networks for beyond 3G or 4G in March 2006. This paper presents our vision of new-generation mobile communications networks from networking perspective and their capabilities to be offered: fast and large-capacity handover, cross-network handover, cross-device handover, and interworking between real and cyber worlds. Then, Metro Mobile Ring network technology for the first capability, MIRAI architecture for the second and third capabilities, and other works are presented.
