Due to latest advancements in the field of remote sensing,it becomes easier to acquire high quality images by the use of various satellites along with the sensing *** the massive quantity of data poses a challenging issue to store and effectively transmit the remote sensing ***,image compression techniques can be utilized to process remote sensing *** this aspect,vector quantization(VQ)can be employed for image compression and the widely applied VQ approach is Linde–Buzo–Gray(LBG)which creates a local optimum codebook for image *** process of constructing the codebook can be treated as the optimization issue and the metaheuristic algorithms can be utilized for resolving *** this motivation,this article presents an intelligent satin bowerbird optimizer based compression technique(ISBO-CT)for remote sensing *** goal of the ISBO-CT technique is to proficiently compress the remote sensing images by the effective design of ***,the ISBO-CT technique makes use of satin bowerbird optimizer(SBO)with LBG approach is *** design of SBO algorithm for remote sensing image compression depicts the novelty of the *** showcase the enhanced efficiency of ISBO-CT approach,an extensive range of simulations were applied and the outcomes reported the optimum performance of ISBO-CT technique related to the recent state of art image compression approaches.

A multi-core based parallel streaming mechanism for concurrent video-on-demand applications

In this paper, we design a novel Multi-Core based Parallel Streaming Mechanism for concurrently streaming the scalable extension of H.264/AVC videos, which is called MCPSM. MC-PSM is able to serve lots of heterogeneous users who may utilize distinct terminals through distinct network interfaces to get on-demand videos from an ISP streaming server at meanwhile. With the concept of CPU scheduling- SJF (Shortest- Job-First) and multi-core based parallel programming, multiple streaming tasks can be executed in parallel using a proposed task dispatcher based on network connection speeds, video bit-rate and users' waiting time. Comparing with a normal-threading streaming approach, the average execution time can decrease effectively and CPU resources can be utilized more fully. © 2009 IEEE.

Toward optimal embedding capacity for permutation steganography

Bogomjakov et al. proposed a universal algorithm for permutation steganography. In this paper, we introduce a more effective algorithm. A theoretical analysis indicates that our algorithm achieves 99% of optimal when using 128 elements, while Bogomjakov et al.'s method attains only 98.34% of optimal even when employing as many as 1,048,576 *** conducted an experiment using a 3-D polygon dataset for comparison. The analysis and practical experiments demonstrate that our algorithm attains a capacity closer to the optimal but has the same runtime complexity as Bogomjakov et al.'s algorithm. © 2009 IEEE.

Localization is one of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks （WSNs）, since locations of the sensor nodes are critical to both network operations and most application level tasks. Although the GPS based localization schemes can be used to determine node locations within a few meters, the cost of GPS devices and non-availability of GPS signals in confined environments prevent their use in large scale sensor networks. There exists an extensive body of research that aims at obtaining locations as well as spatial relations of nodes in WSNs without requiring specialized hardware and/or employing only a limited number of anchors that are aware of their own locations. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey on sensor localization in WSNs covering motivations, problem formulations, solution approaches and performance summary. Future research issues will also be discussed.

Call admission control (CAC) is a mechanism used in networks to administer quality of service (QoS). Whereas the CAC problem in time-division multiple access (TDMA)-based cellular networks is simply related to the number of physical channels available in the network, it is strongly related to the physical layer performance in code-division multiple access (CDMA) networks since the multi-access interference in them is a function of the number of users and is a limiting factor in ensuring QoS. In this article, the CAC issues in multimedia DS-CDMA systems are reviewed by illustrating the basic principles underlying various schemes that have been proposed progressively from the simplest to the complex. The article also introduces SIR as a measure of QoS and describes the relatively simple schemes to administer CAC. The expression for SIR resulting from linear minimum mean-squared error processing is also presented. This article illustrates how CAC for multiple class service can be casted into an optimality framework and then discuss the recent work addressing self-similar multiple access interference.

Distributed link adaptation for multicast traffic in MIMO-OFDM systems

Multicast traffic exploits the broadcast nature of the wireless medium to deliver the same data to multiple users improving the bandwidth efficiency. Link adaptation can be used in multicast transmission to further increase data rates exploiting feedback from the users. However, it is not easy to have the quality of service (QoS) of every intended receiver met while pushing the data rate to the link capacity. Due to this difficulty, the conventional approach is to transmit isotropically with a fixed basic rate giving up the opportunity of increased throughput. For point-to-point unicast traffic, machine learning algorithms have recently found successful application in link adaptation due to their flexibility and ability to capture more environmental effects implicitly than classical adaptation algorithms. In this paper, we propose a machine learning based distributed algorithm for link adaptation for multicast traffic in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Our computations show that the data driven approach for link adaptation provides good prediction of the optimal modulation and coding scheme (MCS) outperforming the fixed MCS policies collectively. The distributed algorithm using dual decomposition reduces the required feedback amount significantly while maintaining the near-optimal throughput performance. © 2011.

In this paper, we consider the use of selective-retransmission ARQ protocols to improve communication performance on partial-time jamming channels. The schemes that we propose are based on reliability-based hybrid ARQ (RB-HARQ), in which the set of bits to be retransmitted is adaptively selected based on the estimated a posteriori probabilities at the output of a soft-input, soft-output decoder. For channels with partial-time jamming, we can extend our measure of reliability to incorporate not only a posteriori probability information but also estimates of the probability that a bit was jammed. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme with that of a conventional approach in which a predetermined set of bits is retransmitted in response to a packet failure. The results show that RB-HARQ schemes can achieve better performance than the conventional approach. ©2004 IEEE.
