Artificial intelligence (AI) promises to revolutionize the design, optimization and management of next-generation communication systems. In this article, we explore the integration of large AI models (LAMs) into semantic communications (SemCom) by leveraging their multi-modal data processing and generation capabilities. Although LAMs bring unprecedented abilities to extract semantics from raw data, this integration entails multifaceted challenges including high resource demands, model complexity, and the need for adaptability across diverse modalities and tasks. To overcome these challenges, we propose a LAM-based multi-task SemCom (MTSC) architecture, which includes an adaptive model compression strategy and a federated split fine-tuning approach to facilitate the efficient deployment of LAM-based semantic models in resource-limited networks. Furthermore, a retrieval-augmented generation scheme is implemented to synthesize the most recent local and global knowledge bases to enhance the accuracy of semantic extraction and content generation, thereby improving the inference performance. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed LAM-based MTSC architecture, highlighting the performance enhancements across various downstream tasks under varying channel conditions. Accident assessments for insurance companies are currently conducted manually, which can be time-consuming and prone to human error. The proposed method seeks to automate this process, aiming to save time and enhance accuracy. This paper introduces an innovative approach to analyzing object damage by leveraging the advanced YOLOv5 (You Only Look One Level) deep learning architecture. The research is meticulously crafted to address the imperative need for robust and precise detection and classification of damaged objects in images, crucial for effective assessment of structural and environmental integrity. Leveraging the unparalleled real-time object detection capabilities of YOLOv5, the framework is finely tuned and trained on a comprehensive dataset encompassing diverse scenarios of damaged objects. Through exhaustive experimentation and validation, our methodology demonstrates substantial advancements, offering unparalleled efficiency and accuracy in the domain of object damage analysis. The findings of this study hold significant implications for a broad spectrum of applications, ranging from infrastructure monitoring to disaster response, underscoring the transformative potential of deep learning in enhancing critical assessment processes.

This paper proposes a novel concept of multi-functional reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (MF-RISs). Different from conventional single-functional RISs (SF-RISs) that only reflect signals, the proposed MF-RIS simultaneously supports multiple functionalities, namely, reflection, amplification, and energy harvesting. Specifically, by harvesting energy from incident signals, MF-RIS is able to simultaneously reflect and amplify signals without an external power supply, which is beneficial for overcoming the double-fading attenuation in a flexible manner. A new operation protocol of MF-RIS is presented, and then a sum rate (SR) maximization problem is formulated for an MF-RIS aided multi-user network. Next, an efficient iterative algorithm is proposed to solve this non-convex problem. Furthermore, through theoretical analysis, we determine the number of reflection elements required for MF-RISs to outperform self-sustainable RISs. Finally, our numerical results show that: 1) MF-RISs are able to provide up to 81.1% higher SR than the self-sustainable RISs. 2) Unlike the SF-RIS, which prefers to be deployed near the transmitter or receiver, MF-RISs should be deployed closer to the transmitter for better performance.

Robust voxelization and visualization by improved tetrahedral mesh generation

When obtaining interior 3D voxel data from triangular meshes, most existing methods fail to handle low quality meshes which happens to take up a big portion on the internet. In this work we present a robust voxelization method that is based on tetrahedral mesh generation within a user defined error bound. Comparing to other tetrahedral mesh generation methods, our method produces much higher quality tetrahedral meshes as the intermediate outcome, which allows us to utilize a faster voxelization algorithm that is based on a stronger assumption. We show the results comparing to various methods including the state-of-the-art. Our contribution includes a framework which takes triangular mesh as an input and produces voxelized data, a proof to an unproved algorithm that performs better than the state-of-the-art, and various experiments including parallelization built on the GPU and CPU. We further tested our method on various dataset including Princeton ModelNet and Thingi10k to show the robustness of the framework, where near 100% availability is achieved, while others can only achieve around 50%. © 2021, CC BY.

In the era of global digitalization, digital innovation hubs have become essential, as they function as transforming forces. In this paper, we provide an analysis of the Montenegrin Academic Digital Innovation Hub by applying multi-criteria qualitative evaluation over several criteria: process flow of fully digitized operations of the Hub (with aspects of the innovation life-cycle, ethics, and security), resource management, strategic goals, and feasibility. The paper also proposes a model of comprehensive resource management via the perspective of smart specialization priorities of Montenegro. © 2023 IEEE.

Social networks have evolved as a ubiquitous means of communication in our daily lives. Users consistently generate a large amount of data on social media platforms, which on the other hand has increased the complexity when selecting relevant social media content. Thus, recommender system has been emerged as a solution to provide personalized and user-centric media recommendations. However, social media has significantly broadened the scope of available inputs such as social sensing data and new types of social media. It not only offers new research opportunities for social media recommender systems, but also indicates that various domains may benefit from the application of social media recommender systems. Therefore, this paper conducts a comprehensive survey of state-of-the-art research between social media and recommender systems. The survey results identify a set of research challenges on how social media recommender systems can be applied in various domains such as healthcare and route planning.

For the past few decades, Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) disseminate less expensive sensor nodes (SN’s) in its area, where nodes plays significant role in Internet of Things (IoT). WSN based IoT, nodes are generally resource constraints in numerous ways, like energy, storage, computing resources and so on. Effectual routing protocols (RP) are essential for longer lifetime and to attain superior energy utilization. Here, a novel energy efficient k- centroid Lion optimization based routing protocol (kEE-LOP) to enhance network performance. Anticipated kEE-LOP comprises three essential factors: distributed behaviour of lion based cluster formation technique to facilitate nodes organization, novel algorithm for constructing adaptive clusters based on lion migration and k-nodes centroid based cluster head rotation to distribute load to all sensor nodes eventually, thereby a novel mechanism for reducing energy utilization for distance communications. In specific, residual energy of nodes is measured with kEE-LOP for long distance communication. Specifically, nodes’ residual energy is measured as kEE-LOP for computing CH centroid’s position. Simulation results specifies kEE-LOP outperforms superior than LEACH, LEACH-C. As well as, kEE-LOP is more appropriate for networks that is essential for longer lifetime. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The significant advantage of the quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is to ensure the perfect security of quantum private *** this paper,a novel secure multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is proposed,which can complete arbitrary quantum computation on the private data of multiple clients without decryption by an almost dishonest ***,each client obtains a secure encryption key through the measurement device independent quantum key distribution protocol and encrypts the private data by using the encryption operator and ***,with the help of the almost dishonest server,the non-maximally entangled states are preshared between the client and the server to correct errors in the homomorphic evaluation of T gates,so as to realize universal quantum circuit evaluation on encrypted ***,from the perspective of the application scenario of secure multi-party computation,this work is based on the probabilistic quantum homomorphic encryption scheme,allowing multiple parties to delegate the server to perform the secure homomorphic *** operation and the permission to access the data performed by the client and the server are clearly pointed ***,a concrete security analysis shows that the proposed multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme can securely resist outside and inside attacks.

With the advancement of information technology in the recent decades, digital and online services have become essential components of everyday life in Europe. Montenegro is no different in this regard. However, as digital literacy in the country is still in a developing phase in comparison with most countries of the EU, a higher portion of its citizens may rely on assistive technical communication. In this paper, we provide a case study on the assistive technical communication of Montenegrin eServices. The work addresses the sectors of online banking, healthcare services, higher education, national administrative services, and utilities. Our findings highlight the diversity in terms of implemented assistive technical communication, and distinguish usage contexts on the level of adequacy. Yet as the functionalities of Montenegrin eServices are expected to gradually expand in the upcoming years, assistive technical communication must aim to handle the higher extents of service complexity. © 2023 IEEE.

Environmental sustainability, energy and raw material availability, and globalization are just a few of the major societal concerns that are generating new demands on a wide range of societal players. Efficiency, adaptability, sustainability, and competitiveness are some of the new criteria. These have been around for a while, and a variety of systems have been tuned locally in terms of a few of these requirements, but recent developments with regard to communication and computational characteristics have made them much more useful to guarantee new possibilities for combining various parts of society, allowing for optimum performance on a scale that is far greater. The impact of IoT on several sectors of the economy has been substantial. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that allows us to manage physical things over the internet in order to save time and energy. There are several factories in India because of the country’s rapid economic growth. However, industrial accidents were a severe problem in many sectors. However, industrial accidents were a big problem because they resulted in casualties and financial losses for businesses. This initiative aims to reduce the devastating effects of fires in high-risk industries including the oil, chemical and petrochemical sectors, where many lives and fortunes have been lost. It is crucial to have a system in place that can ensure the safety of the factory grounds and promptly alert the proper authorities should an emergency arise. In the past, a single bottle at a time would be loaded onto a conveyor and filled. This strategy is time-consuming and costly.
