In this paper, we consider multi-view video and audio streaming using MPEG-DASH, which enables to transmit video tailored to the network conditions over HTTP communication. This paper uses HTTP/2 instead of HTTP/1.1, which the authors previously used. HTTP/2 manages a series of request-response exchanges called a stream, which is assigned a unique stream ID. We perform a subjective experiment under various network conditions to evaluate application-level QoS and QoE. From the evaluation results, we investigate the effect of the HTTP/2 stream on the video and audio quality of the users in the multi-view video transmission scenario. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper compares video and audio QoE of OFDMA multi-user transmission and reliable groupcast over wireless LAN. We assume video and audio transmission to several terminals simultaneously. As a reliable groupcast method, we employ Unsolicited Retry, a technique of IEEE 802.11aa GroupCast with Retries. We utilize IEEE 802.11ax for OFDMA transmission. We evaluate application-level QoS by computer simulation. We then assess QoE through a subjective experiment with video and audio streams generated by the output timing obtained from the simulation. We notice that each method has a situation to be applied appropriately. © 2024 IEEE.

Generalized-linear dynamical models (GLDMs) remain a widely-used framework within neuroscience for modeling time-series data, such as neural spiking activity or categorical decision outcomes. Whereas the standard usage of GLDMs is to model a single data source, certain applications require jointly modeling two generalized-linear time-series sources while also dissociating their shared and private dynamics. Most existing GLDM variants and their associated learning algorithms do not support this capability. Here we address this challenge by developing a multi-step analytical subspace identification algorithm for learning a GLDM that explicitly models shared vs. private dynamics within two generalized-linear time-series. In simulations, we demonstrate our algorithm's ability to dissociate and model the dynamics within two time-series sources while being agnostic to their respective observation distributions. In neural data, we consider two specific applications of our algorithm for modeling discrete population spiking activity with respect to a secondary time-series. In both synthetic and real data, GLDMs learned with our algorithm more accurately decoded one time-series from the other using lower-dimensional latent states, as compared to models identified using existing GLDM learning algorithms. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Modern retail businesses face a significant challenge with the inefficiency of manually changing price labels on shelves. This manual process not only consumes valuable time and resources but also increases the likelihood of errors, leading to potential inaccuracies in pricing and a less streamlined shopping experience for customers. The proposed solution is the implementation of an Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) system that automatically displays the prices of goods on retail business shelves. This system connects a website (front end and back end) to e-paper via a Wi-Fi network and microcontroller, allowing retail business owners to update prices more easily. Additionally, buyers can search for desired items through the website. The results are the time to send data from the website to the e-paper, namely, to know the performance of the e-paper used. The average time required from 10 attempts to send data from the website to the e-paper is 20.935 seconds. Since the data is connected to the server and will be updated automatically, using this system will be more efficient than manually changing the price label, although it takes time to transfer data from the website to the e-paper. © 2024 IEEE.

IT/OT convergence in the form of a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) presents an opportunity to apply recent Information Technology (IT) advancements to Operational Technology (OT). The IT/OT convergence introduces cyber security threats for OT. The OT communication protocols, for example, have limited or no security capabilities for securing data exchange beyond basic authentication. The RNG (Random Number Generator) function is crucial in PLC for producing the encryption keys or the initial seed for security algorithms. The software-based PRNG (Pseudo RNG) is the most common approach for RNG in OT, instead of hardware-based RNG. This study provides a systematic literature review of the most recent evidence in digital transformation to secure data exchange in smart factories, within OT, or across OT and IT settings. It does this by looking at the PRNG on PLC and identifying the most recent trends and best practices. The findings include up-to-date data on author countries' distribution, published journals, research trends, industries, and industry types. The findings also address whether data flow is encrypted or shared in plaintext to ensure secure data transfer between IT and legacy OT environments. This paper concludes that while there is known RNG implementation in the actual embedded system in ICS, there is no evidence in the literature for using RNG in ICS networks for PLC implementation to secure data transfer with encryption. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work, a dynamic weighting-artificial neural network (DW-ANN) methodology is presented for quick and automated compact model (CM) generation. It takes advantage of both TCAD simulations for high accuracy and SPICE simulations for cost-effectiveness. This methodology is developed for gate-all-around (GAA) silicon (Si) nanosheet (NS) complementary field effect transistor (CFET), a potential candidate for future CMOS technology due to its innate properties. The critical process variation (PV) sources that severely degrade the CFET performance are estimated using DW-ANN. It reduces the computation cost and predicts the effects of PV sources with less than 1% error. Furthermore, a compact DW-ANN-based Verilog-A model has been developed that captures the dc as well as transient behavior accurately for circuit-level analysis. CFET-based circuits such as inverter, 6T-static random access memory (SRAM), and ring oscillator (RO) are characterized and implemented using DW-ANN-based CM. The overall average error of the model is reported as less than 2%. Therefore, the proposed device and circuit modeling approach provides a feasible solution for the rapid compact modeling of new emerging devices with good convergence and high accuracy. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Lung disease, especially Tuberculosis (TBC), placed the highest death rate in Indonesia. Tuberculosis (TB) in Indonesia is ranked second after India. Therefore, it is important to reduce or early detection of the lung disease, to prevent this disease and speed up handling. The system can recognize the disease lung identification, and the system applied as standalone system. In this work, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) approach for identifying diseases lung identification is proposed. The Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) applied to process the stethoscope sounds which will used as input to the CNN. The performance of the proposed system has been investigated and resulted. The accuracy of 99% and 98%, for training and testing accuracy respectively. Furthermore, the system accurately detects lung diseases identification. © 2024 IEEE.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can attack the lungs and other organs. In the diagnosis of TB, the interpretation of X-ray radiological images requires special skills from medical specialists. However, the lack of experience of medical personnel and focus on X-ray examinations can be a challenge for radiologists because it has the potential to cause diagnostic errors in image interpretation. Therefore, we proposed a web-based application of real-time chest X-ray interpreter by integrating the deep learning model of Vision Transformer (ViT) to interpret chest X-ray images. The inference model was trained and tested on 652 normal and 652 tuberculosis X-ray images. The data preprocessing of Contrast Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) was implemented to increase chest X-ray image contrast as well as inference model performance. The proposed real time system can inteprete the tested chest x-ray images with an accuracy of 95% and with simulation duration time of 4.7 seconds. © 2024 IEEE.

Dynamic Sampling-Based Meta-Learning Using Multilingual Acoustic Data for Under-Resourced Speech Recognition

Under-resourced automatic speech recognition (ASR) has become an active field of research and has experienced significant progress during the past decade. However, the performance of under-resourced ASR trained by existing methods is still far inferior to high-resourced ASR for practical applications. In this paper, speech data from languages that share the most phonemes with the under-resourced language are selected as supplementary resources for meta-training based on the Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) strategy. Besides supplementary language selection, this paper proposes a dynamic sampling method instead of the original random sampling method to select support and query sets for each task in MAML to improve meta-training performance. In this study, Taiwanese is selected as the under-resourced language, and the speech corpus of five languages, including Mandarin, English, Japanese, Cantonese, and Thai, are chosen as supplementary training data for acoustic model training. The proposed dynamic sampling approach uses phonemes, pronunciation, and speech recognition models as the basis to determine the proportion of each supplementary language to select helpful utterances for MAML. For evaluation, with the selected utterances from each supplementary language for meta-training, we obtained a Word Error Rate of 20.24% and a Syllable Error Rate of 8.35% for Taiwanese ASR, which were better than the baseline model (26.18% and 13.99%) using only the Taiwanese corpus and other methods. © 2013 IEEE.

Dyslexia is a learning disability that negatively impacts an individual's ability to read, write, spell, and sometimes speak. It results in difficulties in recognizing and decoding words and patterns, despite normal level of education and intelligence. Studies have shown that early detection of dyslexia is vital for improving learning abilities in young children. Many virtual platforms exist for diagnosing and rehabilitating dyslexia;however, most require tests that measure reading skills. Since developing reading capabilities can delay the detection of dyslexia, a gaming platform based on Hebb-Williams mazes has been developed. This platform does not rely on reading skills and can diagnose dyslexia in young children. This paper presents a machine learning driven approach using two algorithms - Random Forest and Linear SVM - to classify reading abilities based on data from participants performing virtual maze tasks, which are indicative of symptoms of dyslexia. Results from this study indicate that it is possible to predict dyslexia with up to 95% accuracy based on a participant's performance in virtual gaming environments. © 2025 IEEE.
