The purpose of this paper is automating the analysis of tourist demand by developing a web-service for surveying tourists (both real and potential) and for presenting the survey results in the form of determining the tourist demand. The model of the process of determining the tourist demand based on Fishbein's multi-attribute model has been developed. The most important attributes, by which tourists evaluate their travels, and the relative importance of such attributes are identified. Rules for translating the thoughts and ratings of the user into an acceptable for the developed model 7-point bipolar scale have been developed. The web-service, which provides automating the calculation of tourist attraction of different countries, has been developed. © 2020 IEEE.

Developing security-critical applications is very difficult and the past has shown that many applications turned out to be erroneous after years of usage. For this reason it is desirable to have a sound methodology for developing security-critical E-Commerce applications. We present an approach to model these applications with the unified modeling language (UML) [1] extended by a UML profile to tailor our models to security applications. Our intent is to (semi-) automatically generate a formal specification suitable for verification as well as an implementation from the model. Therefore we offer a development method seamlessly integrating semi-formal and formal methods as well as the implementation. This is a significant advantage compared to other approaches not dealing with all aspects from abstract models down to code. Based on this approach we can prove security properties on the abstract protocol level as well as the correctness of the protocol implementation in Java with respect to the formal model using the refinement approach. In this paper we concentrate on the modeling with UML and some details regarding the transformation of this model into the formal specification. We illustrate our approach on an electronic payment system called Mondex [10]. Mondex has become famous for being the target of the first ITSEC evaluation of the highest level E6 which requires formal specification and verification. © 2007 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel method on coloring the grayscale images. For this purpose, a combination of artificial neural networks and some image processing algorithms was developed to transfer colors from a user-selected source image to a target grayscale image. According to the results of this combining method, a survey where volunteers were asked to rate the plausibility of the colorings generated automatically was performed for individual images. In most cases automatically-colored images were rated either as totally or mostly acceptable. ©2009 IEEE.

Boolean Differential Calculus (BDC) extends Boolean *** Boolean algebra is focused on values of logic functions,BDC allows the evaluation of changes of the function values. Such changes can be investigated between certain pairs of function values as well as regarding whole subspaces. Due to the same basic data structures, BDC can be applied to any task described by logic functions and equations together with the Boolean *** used is BDC in analysis, synthesis, and testing of digital circuits. In this chapter, we introduce basic definitions of BDC together with some typical applications.

Automated decision systems for emboli detection is a crucial need since it is being done by visual determination of experts which causes excess time consumption and subjectivity. This work presents an emboli detection system using various dimensionality reduction algorithms on Doppler ultrasound signals recorded from both forward and reverse flow of blood transformed via Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), and Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCWT). The combined forward and reverse DTCWT based features produced the highest performance when fed to SVMs classifier. As to compare dimensionality reduction algorithms, although PCA and LDA gave comparable accuracies, LDA has accomplished these accuracies only with two components due to its less than the number of classes' orthogonal projective directions limitation. SVMs yielded higher classification accuracies than k-NN with all considered dimensionality reduction methods since SVMs classifier is more robust to noise and irrelevant features. With the ability to localize well both in time and frequency, wavelet transform based extracted features gave higher overall classification accuracies than FFT with the more stable classifier SVMs. Additionally, DTCWT accuracies are higher with SVMs than those of DWT since it also has the ability of being shift-invariant. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Let there be given a safety related electronic system suffering from random failures or errors. The standard IEC 61508 contains simplified equations for the probability of failure on demand PFDavg for special system architectures, mostly without proof. In various publications PFDavg is defined by several different equations, e.g. as a Laplacian probability, as an integral mean, or by means of the average failure rate of the system. The aim of the paper is to determine PFDavgby stochastic methods and to bring together the different definitions. A formula for PFDavg is given that is valid for most universal electronic systems. The equivalence of 2 different definitions of PFDavgis shown. The special case of a koon-System is investigated, and the resulting equations improve those known so far. The basic idea is to randomize the time to failure, the down time of the system, as well as the repair time, and then, by means of the Stieltjes-Integral, determine the mean or average time as the expectation of the respective random variable.

Software composed of artifacts written in multiple (programming) languages is pervasive in today's enterprise, desktop, and mobile applications. Since they form one system, artifacts from different languages reference one another, thus creating what we call semantic cross-language links. By their very nature, such links are out of scope of the individual programming language, they are ignored by most language-specific tools and are often only established - and checked for errors - at runtime. This is unfortunate since it requires additional testing, leads to brittle code, and lessens maintainability. In this paper, we advocate a generic approach to understanding, analyzing and refactoring cross-language code by explicitly specifying and exploiting semantic links with the aim of giving developers the same amount of control over and confidence in multi-language programs they have for single-language code today. © 2012 IEEE.

In recent years, deep neural network (DNN) has been frequently used for classification. In this study, iris flowers having 3 different types are classified by using DNN which are utilized the width and length of petal and sepal features as input. Some experiments are made for the iris dataset by using different activation functions and different epoch numbers. Then, the activation function which gives the best result is determined. The classification success of the developed model is achieved 96% for the iris dataset. © 2018 IEEE.

Pollen contains highly allergic proteins. One of the major causes of allergic diseases is the pollen in the air we breathe. Asthma patients are known to show allergic reaction to pollens. Therefore, they need to be more careful and avoid the factors that trigger asthma. In this study, the first step was taken to develop an artificial-intelligence-based decision support system to improve the quality of life of asthma patients. Finding the ratio of pollen in nature is a long process, and it is measured by using different instruments and hours of calculations in laboratories. In this study, Adaptive Network-Based Fuzzy Extraction System (ANFIS) and normalization methods were applied to meteorological data to estimate the breathing levels of asthma patients according to the amount of pollen in the air. The data were tested via the Artificial Neural Networks method, and it was found that the model produced better results that are very close to real values when compared to the results in ANFIS. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents a novel approach of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to establish a communication infrastructure in case of disasters. Due to the collapse of buildings, power systems, and antennas, the collapse of communication infrastructure is the usual effect of disasters. In this study, we propose an emergency communications system established by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system is a post-disaster solution;hence, it can be used anywhere required. In this study, first we briefly explain the details of the system in three aspects: end-to-end communication, localization and navigation, and coordination Then, we evaluate the efficiency of the localization and navigation subsystem. Our simulation studies with AirRobot quadrotor helicopters in Unified System for Automation and Robot Simulation (USARSim) simulation environment show that UAV-aided communications system can be used in case of disasters to establish an emergency communications infrastructure in terms of localization and navigation. © 2012 IEEE.
