The proliferation of consumer data can be attributed to 'the Internet of Things (IoT),' which makes it easier to access and more detailed than before. In this research our purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of a consumer behavior analysis model using data from IoT. The quality of the model is evaluated on multiple parameters - accuracy, predictability and business sense for marketing. It uses the analytics of huge amounts for data from IoT devices to predict patterns, customer preferences and trends. The proposed method called as Enhanced Neural Classification Logic (ENCL) is cross-validated with the already existing method, which is termed as Consumer behavior Forecasting Strategy (CBFS), and helps users to share gather or process information in a fast and cost-effective way through the proposed method. The results are useful to grasp the promise of IoT in more effective consumer behavior analysis. The research portrays the strengths, weaknesses and possible areas of improvement in this model which will be beneficial for both academic and industry practitioners. As such, the objective of this study is to show how an IoT-based consumer behavior analysis can increase business growth and customer satisfaction. The experimental evaluations demonstrate significant improvements in predictive performance over traditional methods, providing actionable insights for targeted marketing and strategic decision-making. The results highlight ENCL's potential to transform consumer behavior analysis by delivering more precise and nuanced understandings of market dynamics. © 2024 IEEE.

Refresh Rate and Graphical Benchmarks for Mobile VR Application Development

Virtual reality (VR) technology is quickly becoming more accessible to the general public due to the availability and capabilities of modern smartphone devices. However, such mobile devices are not as powerful as high-end desktop systems where VR is mostly established. Running demanding VR apps leads to performance issues such as lag, excessive heat, and fast battery drainage. To avoid these problems, software factors must be optimised. The user evaluation (N = 51) involved presenting multiple VR scenes (with varying frame rates), requiring participants to judge which scenes felt smooth;the results indicate that anything below 50 FPS was tolerable at best and nauseating at worst. To also measure the performance impact of various software settings, benchmarks were conducted on different smartphones. The results highlight the effects when varying the number of displayed on-screen objects, as well as outlining which settings should be avoid when specifically targeting mobile VR platforms. Heat and battery life were found to be non-issues at recommended performance levels. The proposed work established valuable guidelines which can be helpful for real time applications in development time reduction and complexity simplification from graphical and refresh rate optimization perspectives. © 2022 River Publishers. Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) take vital role in intelligent transportation systems, but they face challenges due to dynamic network topology, impacting communication efficiency, especially with increasing active nodes. Security and privacy concerns are paramount, necessitating authentication to ensure only legitimate vehicles access the network. Secure vehicular clustering offers a solution, yet the number of clusters affects network dependability and efficiency. To tackle this, we present a secure clustering mechanism using Bat optimization algorithm, mimicking echolocation behavior to optimize clusters. We introduce an authentication technique for cluster heads to admit approved members, enhancing vehicular authentication. Simulations using MATLAB evaluate our approach, showing improved performance in end-to-end delay, overhead, and cluster head count compared to similar methods. © 2024 IEEE.

This research presents a novel nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Frilled Lizard Optimization(FLO),which emulates the unique hunting behavior of frilled lizards in their natural *** draws its inspiration from the sit-and-wait hunting strategy of these *** algorithm’s core principles are meticulously detailed and mathematically structured into two distinct phases:(i)an exploration phase,which mimics the lizard’s sudden attack on its prey,and(ii)an exploitation phase,which simulates the lizard’s retreat to the treetops after *** assess FLO’s efficacy in addressing optimization problems,its performance is rigorously tested on fifty-two standard benchmark *** functions include unimodal,high-dimensional multimodal,and fixed-dimensional multimodal functions,as well as the challenging CEC 2017 test ***’s performance is benchmarked against twelve established metaheuristic algorithms,providing a comprehensive comparative *** simulation results demonstrate that FLO excels in both exploration and exploitation,effectively balancing these two critical aspects throughout the search *** balanced approach enables FLO to outperform several competing algorithms in numerous test ***,FLO is applied to twenty-two constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite and four complex engineering design problems,further validating its robustness and versatility in solving real-world optimization ***,the study highlights FLO’s superior performance and its potential as a powerful tool for tackling a wide range of optimization problems.

GIRP: Energy-Efficient QoS-Oriented Microservice Resource Provisioning via Multi-Objective Multi-Task Reinforcement Learning

Microservice architecture has revolutionized web service development by facilitating loosely coupled and independently developable components distributed as containers or virtual machines. While existing studies emphasize end-to-end latency, this paper investigates energy-efficient quality-of-service (QoS)-oriented microservice provisioning, focusing on both QoS satisfaction and power consumption (PC) conservation. We propose the Green and Intelligent Resource Provision (GIRP) architecture, integrating a data-driven energy-latency-aware resource allocation and scheduling manager to balance latency and PC. To reconcile the trade-offs involved, a dual-objective optimization problem is formulated to minimize latency and energy use by selecting proper servers, allocating CPU cores, and determining service replicas. To address challenges with discrete variables, dual objectives, and implicit mappings, we leverage a model-free deep deterministic policy gradient-based reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, we develop a multi-task agent via the Multi-gate Mixture-of-Experts model to simultaneously make two separate actions regarding CPU core numbers and service replica numbers, followed by a single-task agent to determine service scheduling. Extensive experiments on the DeathStarBenchmark testbed validate GIRP's effectiveness, demonstrating approximately 52% resource savings and a 43% reduction in PC compared to leading methods like Sinan, Firm, and heuristic-based algorithms. These results highlight GIRP's capability to optimize microservice orchestration by balancing end-to-end latency and power efficiency. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms are a widely-used algorithmic tool for sampling from high-dimensional distributions, a notable example is the equilibirum distribution of graphical models. The Glauber dynamics, also known as the Gibbs sampler, is the simplest example of an MCMC algorithm;the transitions of the chain update the configuration at a randomly chosen coordinate at each step. Several works have studied distributed versions of the Glauber dynamics and we extend these efforts to a more general family of Markov chains. An important combinatorial problem in the study of MCMC algorithms is random colorings. Given a graph G of maximum degree ∆ and an integer k ≥ ∆ + 1, the goal is to generate a random proper vertex k-coloring of G. Jerrum (1995) proved that the Glauber dynamics has O(n log n) mixing time when k > 2∆. Fischer and Ghaffari (2018), and independently Feng, Hayes, and Yin (2018), presented a parallel and distributed version of the Glauber dynamics which converges in O(log n) rounds for k > (2 + Ε)∆ for any Ε > 0. We improve this result to k > (11/6 − δ)∆ for a fixed δ > 0. This matches the state of the art for randomly sampling colorings of general graphs in the sequential setting. Whereas previous works focused on distributed variants of the Glauber dynamics, our work presents a parallel and distributed version of the more general flip dynamics presented by Vigoda (2000) (and refined by Chen, Delcourt, Moitra, Perarnau, and Postle (2019)), which recolors local maximal two-colored components in each step. © Charlie Carlson, Daniel Frishberg, and Eric Vigoda

A Neural Network Framework for Classifying Educational Content Aligned with Learning Outcomes

Rapid growth of digital educational content necessitates efficient and accurate methods for organizing and mapping resources to ensure well-alignment with targeted learning outcomes, academic standards, and competency frameworks. Traditional text classification approaches, including rule-based and classical machine learning techniques, often fail to address the semantic diversity and scalability demands of modern educational systems. This study investigates the application of neural networks for text classification to automate the mapping of educational content into predefined categories. Leveraging state-of-the-art architectures such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, and transformers like BERT, we present an architecture of a systematic Classification of educational materials. We discuss the implications of this work for adaptive learning environments, emphasizing the potential of neural networks to enhance the efficiency and scalability of content mapping. This study contributes to the growing body of research in artificial intelligence for education and sets the stage for further exploration into multilingual and domain-specific content classification methods.

Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)is proposed to solve the needs of Inter-net of Things(IoT)users for high resource utilization,high reliability and low latency of service ***,the backup virtual machine is idle when its primary virtual machine is running normally,which will waste *** the backup virtual machine under the above circumstances can effectively improve resource ***,these virtual machines are deployed into slots randomly,and then some tasks with cooperative relationship are off-loaded to virtual machines for *** deployment locations have different resource utilization and average service response *** want toﬁnd a balanced solution that minimizes the average service response time of the IoT application while maximizing resource *** this paper,we propose a task scheduler and exploit a Task Deployment Algorithm(TDA)to obtain an optimal virtual machine deployment ***,the simulation results show that the TDA can signiﬁcantly increase the resource utilization of the system,while redu-cing the average service response time of the application by comparing TDA with the other two classical *** experimental results conﬁrm that the perfor-mance of TDA is better than that of other two methods.

Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

With the integration of efficient computation and communication technologies into sensory devices, the Internet of Things (IoT) applications have increased tremendously in recent decades. While these applications provide numerous benefits to our daily lives, they also pose a great potential risk in terms of security. One of the reasons for this is that devices in IoT-based networks are highly resource constrained and interconnected over lossy links that can be exposed by attackers. The Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Network (RPL) is the standard routing protocol for such lossy networks. Despite the efficient routing built by RPL, this protocol is susceptible to insider attacks. Therefore, researchers have been working on developing effective intrusion detection systems for RPL-based IoT. However, most of these studies consume excessive resources (e.g., energy, memory, communication, etc.) and do not consider the constrained characteristics of the network. Hence, they might not be suitable for some devices/networks. Therefore, in this study, we aim to develop an intrusion detection system (IDS) that is both effective and efficient in terms of the cost consumed by intrusion detection (ID) nodes. For this multiple-objective problem, we investigate the use of evolutionary computation-based algorithms and show the performance of evolved intrusion detection algorithms against various RPL-specific attacks. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
