Framework for Agent-Based Multistage Application Partitioning Algorithm in Mobile Cloud Computing

The idea of computational offloading is quickly catching on in the world of mobile cloud computing (MCC). Today’s applications have heavy demands on power and computing resources, creating issues with energy consumption, storage capacity, and mobile device performance. Mobile devices may efficiently offload their calculations to cloud servers using the offloading paradigm and then get the processed results back onto the device. The investigation relates to identifying the specific application components that should be offloaded and run remotely and which parts are supposed to be treated locally. The applications need to be partitioned to differentiate between remote and local codes. In this paper, an agent-based multistage graph partitioning (ABMP) scheme is proposed. The framework of the scheme is based on three-tier architecture that includes mobile, cloudlet, and cloud for the execution of application tasks. The main goal is to provide an efficient partitioning and offloading scheme in the mobile cloud computing area. The results show that incorporating both agent-based multistage graph partitioning and offloading algorithms yields superior performance as compared to previous methods in terms of reducing execution costs and conserving battery life for mobile devices. © The Author(s) 2024.

Gastrointestinal diseases like ulcers, polyps’, and bleeding areincreasing rapidly in the world over the last decade. On average 0.7 millioncases are reported worldwide every year. The main cause of gastrointestinaldiseases is a Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) bacterium that presents in morethan 50% of people around the globe. Many researchers have proposeddifferent methods for gastrointestinal disease using computer vision *** of them focused on the detection process and the rest of themperformed classification. The major challenges that they faced are the similarityof infected and healthy regions that misleads the correct classificationaccuracy. In this work, we proposed a technique based on Mask Recurrent-Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN) and fine-tuned pre-trainedResNet-50 and ResNet-152 networks for feature extraction. Initially, the region ofinterest is detected using Mask R-CNN which is later utilized for the trainingof fine-tuned models through transfer learning. Features are extracted fromfine-tuned models that are later fused using a serial approach. Moreover, anImproved Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm has also opted for thebest feature selection from the fused feature vector. The best-selected featuresare finally classified using machine learning techniques. The experimentalprocess was conducted on the publicly available dataset and obtained animproved accuracy of 96.43%. In comparison with state-of-the-art techniques,it is observed that the proposed accuracy is improved.

Classifying scenes and aerial imagery is a critical component in applications such as land-use analysis, land cover mapping, and remote sensing technologies. Numerous existing models leverage Convolutional Neural Networks for classification, but they often involve intricate designs with a vast number of parameters, necessitating extensive computational power and prolonged training periods. This paper introduces a refined strategy employing a pre-trained EfficientNet B0 framework. Modification of parameters and layers through careful fine-tuning has resulted in notable enhancements in the model's classification precision. The superiority of EfficientNet B0 over comparative CNN architectures was confirmed by testing with three disparate datasets, particularly within the sphere of remote sensing imagery. The EfficientNet B0's superior performance is credited to its optimal structure that strikes a balance between model complexity and efficiency. Effective fine-tuning coupled with judicious computational resource allocation yields substantial accuracy in categorization. Moreover, its adaptability to assimilate remote sensing data exemplifies its widespread applicability. This study accentuates the significance of refining prevailing deep learning models to cater to specified objectives. Tailoring pre-trained models such as EfficientNet B0 enables marked advancements in classification precision, circumventing the necessity for intricate systems or significant computational demands. This methodology is promising for elevating both the proficiency and impact of scene and aerial image classification across a range of fields, with particular implications for remote sensing endeavors. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Multilabel learning is an emergent topic that addresses the challenge of associating multiple labels with a single instance simultaneously. Multilabel datasets often exhibit high dimensionality with noisy, irrelevant, and redundant features. In recent years, multilabel feature selection (MLFS) has gained prominence as a crucial and emerging machine learning task due to its ability to handle such data effectively. However, existing approaches for MLFS often prioritize top-ranked features based on intrinsic data criteria, disregarding relationships within the feature subset. Additionally, compared with conventional feature selection, multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) have not been widely explored in the context of MLFS. This study aims to address these gaps by proposing a multimodal multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (MMOEA) called MMDE_SICD which incorporates a preelimination scheme, an improved initialization scheme, an exploration scheme inspired by genetic operations and a statistically inspired crowding distance scheme. The results show that the proposed MMDE_SICD algorithm can outperform a variety of MOEAs and MMOEAs as well as conventional MLFS algorithms. Notably, this study is the first of its kind to consider MLFS as a multimodal multiobjective problem. © 2020 IEEE.

Model stealing attacks have become a serious concern for deep learning models, where an attacker can steal a trained model by querying its black-box API. This can lead to intellectual property theft and other security and privacy risks. The current state-of-the-art defenses against model stealing attacks suggest adding perturbations to the prediction probabilities. However, they suffer from heavy computations and make impracticable assumptions about the adversary. They often require the training of auxiliary models. This can be time-consuming and resource-intensive which hinders the deployment of these defenses in real-world applications. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective and efficient defense alternative. We introduce a heuristic approach to perturb the output probabilities. The proposed defense can be easily integrated into models without additional training. We show that our defense is effective in defending against three state-of-the-art stealing attacks. We evaluate our approach on large and quantized (i.e., compressed) Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) trained on several vision datasets. Our technique outperforms the state-of-the-art defenses with a ×37 faster inference latency without requiring any additional model and with a low impact on the model's performance. We validate that our defense is also effective for quantized CNNs targeting edge devices. © 2023 IEEE.

This study presents a deep learning model for efficient intracranial hemorrhage(ICH)detection and subtype classification on non-contrast head computed tomography(CT)*** refers to bleeding in the skull,leading to the most critical life-threatening health condition requiring rapid and accurate *** is classified as intra-axial hemorrhage(intraventricular,intraparenchymal)and extra-axial hemorrhage(subdural,epidural,subarachnoid)based on the bleeding location inside the *** computer-aided diagnoses(CAD)-based schemes have been proposed for ICH detection and classification at both slice and scan ***,these approaches performonly binary classification and suffer from a large number of parameters,which increase storage ***,the accuracy of brain hemorrhage detection in existing models is significantly low for medically critical *** overcome these problems,a fast and efficient system for the automatic detection of ICH is *** designed a double-branch model based on xception architecture that extracts spatial and instant features,concatenates them,and creates the 3D spatial context(common feature vectors)fed to a decision tree classifier for final *** data employed for the experimentation was gathered during the 2019 Radiologist Society of North America(RSNA)brain hemorrhage detection *** model outperformed benchmark models and achieved better accuracy in intraventricular(99.49%),subarachnoid(99.49%),intraparenchymal(99.10%),and subdural(98.09%)categories,thereby justifying the performance of the proposed double-branch xception architecture for ICH detection and classification.

This paper explores the utilization of OpenCV (Open-Source computer Vision Library) in artificial intelligence (AI) systems, elucidating its pivotal role in advancing various applications across diverse domains. OpenCV, renowned for its comprehensive functionalities and real-time processing capabilities, has become instrumental in tasks such as object detection (OD), facial recognition (FR), and image processing (IP). However, despite its widespread adoption, there remains a need for a thorough examination of its integration within AI frameworks and the optimization of its functionalities. Through a comprehensive analysis, this study delineates the advantages, limitations, and potential areas for improvement of OpenCV in AI applications. Case studies exemplifying its efficacy in OD, FR, and autonomous systems further elucidate its practical implications. By delving into these aspects, this paper not only underscores the significance of OpenCV in AI but also provides valuable insights for researchers, developers, and practitioners aiming to leverage its capabilities in their endeavors. Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN's hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model's potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution. © 2025 IEEE.

Multimodal domain adaptation (MMDA) aims to transfer knowledge across different domains that contain multimodal data. Current methods typically assume that both the source and target domains have paired multimodal data with the same modalities, allowing for direct knowledge transfer between corresponding types of data. However, in certain applications, the source domain benefits from advanced sensors and equipment, capturing more modalities than those available in the target domain. As a result, the information from the source modalities may not strongly align with that of the target modalities. This weak correlation hinders the effective utilization of all source data for the target domain. To address this challenge, we propose a weakly correlated multimodal domain adaptation (WCMMDA) method for pattern classification. WCMMDA is designed to acquire the modality-independent and category-related knowledge from the source domain, enabling the full utilization of available source modalities for effective knowledge transfer. Specifically, modality-invariant features are first extracted from the multimodal data to bridge the heterogeneity gap within each domain. Subsequently, domain-invariant features are further learned from these modality-invariant features to align the feature distributions across the source and target domains. A source-specific classifier is employed here, which predicts pseudo-labels for the target data and enables the feature extractor to explore category-related information in source features. Finally, a target-specific classifier is trained using the pseudolabeled target data, where highly reliable pseudolabels are selected based on confidence to improve classification performance. Extensive experiments are performed on the real-world multimodal datasets to demonstrate the superiority of WCMMDA. © 2020 IEEE.

An aspect-based sentiment analysis model for Arabic game reviews based on hybrid transformers models

Aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) is a natural language processing (NLP) technique to determine the various sentiments of a customer in a single comment regarding different aspects. The increasing online data content generated by interested customers and reviewers motivated researchers and data scientists to conduct ABSA. ABSA has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its versatility in e-commerce, social media, and customer feedback analysis. However, ABSA faces several significant challenges, including determining the aspects and their sentiment polarities (positive, negative, or neutral) in a given text. Moreover, ABSA faces particular challenges in non-English languages such as Arabic due to the lack of resources and mature models. Typically, ABSA tackles one or more of the ABSA research tasks: (T1) aspect term extraction, (T2) aspect term polarity, (T3) aspect category identification, and (T4) aspect category polarity. To identify the aspects and their corresponding sentiment polarities in a given text, accurate and efficient NLP techniques are required. Despite growing interest in Arabic ABSA, the lack of annotated datasets and pre-trained models has hindered its development. In this research, we have collected a dataset of Arabic game reviews and annotated them using three annotators, and then we trained an ABSA deep learning model based on the BERT pre-trained model combined with zero-shot learning (ZSL) to tackle all the four aforementioned tasks. Our best performing model achieved a high accuracy on all four tasks with an accuracy of 91.61% on T1, 90.99% on T2, 79.08% on T3, and 88.17% on T4. Finally, we compared our model’s accuracy with the state-of-the-art Arabic-based ABSA models on different datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.
