Epilepsy disease is a neurological condition marked by recurring seizures that has a big effect on people's life. Effective management and therapy depend on a prompt and correct diagnosis. The traditional methods, including medical history checks and MRI-based diagnoses, are costly, time-consuming, and often create incorrect results. In order to overcome the drawbacks of conventional and expensive diagnostic techniques, this work offers a machine-learning and deep learning-based method for the classification of epilepsy disease utilizing EEG signal data. The proposed study uses the EEG signal dataset collected from the UCI machine learning repository. This study shows the potential for automating the classification of epilepsy disease by using EEG signal data, opening up a potentially new path for the early detection of disease. Proposed CNN model achieved the highest accuracy of 98.4% among all classifiers, which is quite good. © 2023 IEEE.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated the COVID-19 pandemic a global health emergency, prompting responses all over the world. The fatality rate is between 2% and 5%, and millions of people around the world have been infected. While the WHO recommends tests, resource-intensive testing has motivated the development of CNN technology for automated identification. Research employing machine learning models shows great accuracy in classifying X-ray and CT images for COVID-19 detection. These models include denseNet201, resnet50V2, inceptionv3, mobile net, and custom CNNs. The interpretation of chest X-rays has come a long way, yet there are still obstacles to overcome. In this paper, we present a way for using a machine learning model to categorize chest X-ray pictures into normal, COVID-19, viral pneumonia, and lung opacity, demonstrating the model's efficacy in assisting medical diagnosis, especially in time-sensitive situations like COVID-19. Drought is an environmental and economic problem. Sustainable ecosystems, water resources, food security, and all are severely affected by drought. Due to the increasing frequency and severity of droughts caused by climate change. Effective drought modeling is crucial for early warning systems and risk mitigation. Recent advances in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have been developed as potential drought modeling tools that offer accurate drought modeling, providing policymakers and decision-makers with insightful information. The geographical scope of this study is the region of South Asia. This region is selected because of its heavy reliance on agriculture and vulnerability to droughts. The review offers a thorough grasp of how drought conditions are evaluated by gathering and analyzing the most important drought indicators and metrics specific to South Asia. The paper explores the current state- of-the-art in ML and DL (Complex Machine learning and deep learning models) for drought modeling, highlighting current challenges such as incomplete and inconsistent datasets, Lack of explainability and interpretability in complex ML/DL models, unavailability of benchmarks. Based on these challenges, this review suggests the following techniques to address these challenges: Data integration (Data fusion), distributed machine learning (Federated Learning) and explainable AI (XAI, SHAP, LIME, etc.). © 2013 IEEE.

Thyroid disorders represent a significant global health challenge with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as two common conditions arising from dysfunction in the thyroid *** and timely diagnosis of these disorders is crucial for effective treatment and patient *** research introduces a comprehensive approach to improve the accuracy of thyroid disorder diagnosis through the integration of ensemble stacking and advanced feature selection *** forward feature selection,sequential backward feature elimination,and bidirectional feature elimination are investigated in this *** ensemble learning,random forest,adaptive boosting,and bagging classifiers are *** effectiveness of these techniques is evaluated using two different datasets obtained from the University of California Irvine-Machine Learning Repository,both of which undergo preprocessing steps,including outlier removal,addressing missing data,data cleansing,and feature *** experimentation demonstrates the remarkable success of proposed ensemble stacking and bidirectional feature elimination achieving 100%and 99.86%accuracy in identifying hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism,*** enhancing detection accuracy,the ensemble stacking model also demonstrated a streamlined computational complexity which is pivotal for practical medical *** significantly outperformed existing studies with similar objectives underscoring the viability and effectiveness of the proposed *** research offers an innovative perspective and sets the platform for improved thyroid disorder diagnosis with broader implications for healthcare and patient well-being.

—Battery electric buses (BEBs) are known for being eco-friendly transportation in smart cities. They are cost-effective compared to their diesel counterpart if BEBs are charged efficiently. There are two main charging approaches for BEBs, namely, off-service (overnight) and on-route (opportunity) charging. The overnight electricity rate is typically lower than the daytime rate. Consequently, overnight charging is considered the most affordable approach to meet the daily energy needs of the electrified transit network. This paper introduces a new intelligent overnight charging mechanism—i.e., Priority Charging Mechanism (PCM)—that charges BEBs simultaneously using the optimum number of chargers to minimize infrastructure costs. The model is evaluated using the actual transit network data of the city of Thunder Bay. ©2024 IEEE.

Logic locking proposed to protect integrated circuits from serious hardware threats has been studied extensively over a decade. In these years, many logic locking techniques have been proven to be broken. The state-of-the-art logic locking techniques, including the prominent corrupt and correct (CAC) technique, are resilient to satisfiability (SAT)-based and removal attacks, but vulnerable to structural analysis attacks. To overcome this drawback, this paper introduces an improved version of CAC, called CAC 2.0, which increases the search space of structural analysis attacks using obfuscation. To do so, CAC 2.0 locks the original circuit twice, one after another, on different nodes with different number of protected primary inputs using CAC, while hiding original protected primary inputs among decoy primary inputs. This paper also introduces an open source logic locking tool, called HIID, equipped with well-known techniques including CAC 2.0. Our experiments show that CAC 2.0 is resilient to existing SAT-based, removal, and structural analysis attacks. To achieve this, it increases the number of key inputs at most 4× and the gate-level area between 30.2% and 0.8% on circuits with low and high complexity with respect to CAC. © 2024 IEEE.

The Internet of Things is a network of physical objects like sensors, actuators, and software. The purpose of connecting is to exchange data with other objects and systems over the internet, enabling us to enhance data collection, minimize human efforts, save time, and make decisions. Secure that network is the most important IoT challenge, so we use ways to securely access all objects in the IoT network that are known with IoT authentication. Most of the attacks come from plain security problems, for example, the weakness of passwords, these techniques have some disadvantages;Password depends on user memory, and most people use default password which is vulnerable to attacks. This paper compares different IoT authentication schemes. Also, present an analysis of the different generation One Time Password (OTP) schemes like Lamport OTP, Elliptic Curve, and HOTP. The paper provides a simple light model using OTP-based MBTS KHF (Moataz, Basheer, Tarek, Salwa keyed hashing function). our model achieves high-level security with a very shorter key size and solves key size and key store problems than the other algorithms. Also, the paper model prevents users from initializing multiple connections for authentication to prevent attackers from guessing OTP. © 2022 ACM.

Purpose:Borsa Istanbul 100 Index,known as BIST100,is the main indicator to measure the performance of the 100 highest stocks publicly traded in Borsa Istanbul concerning market and trading *** 100 index prediction is a popular research domain for its complex data structure caused by stock price,commodity,interest rate and exchange rate *** study proposed hybrid models using both Genetic,Particle Swarm Optimization,Harmony Search and Greedy algorithms from metaheuristic algorithms approach for dimension reduction,and MARS for ***/methodology/approach:This paper aims to model in the simplest way through metaheuristic algorithms hybridized with the MARS model the effects of stock,commodity,interest and exchange rate variables on BIST 100 during the Covid-19 pandemic period(in the process of closing)between January 2020 and June ***:The most suitable hybrid model was chosen as PSO&MARS by calculating the RMSE,MSE,GCV,MAE,MAD,MAPE and R2 measurements of training,test and overall dataset to check every model’s *** results demonstrated that the proposed PSO&MARS hybrid modeling procedure gave results both as good as the MARS model and a simpler and non-complex model ***/value:Using metaheuristic algorithms as a supporting tool for variable selection can help to identify important independent variables and contribute to the establishment of more non-complex ***,test and overall dataset to check every model’s efficiency.

Stress is considered one of the main causes of health problems. Combining physiological signals from multiple modalities is a promising method for more accurately determining a person's condition. This paper proposes single-branch and two-branch convolutional neural networks for stress detection using biomedical data (electrocardiogram, blood pulse pressure, electrodermal activity). The two-branch model independently processes heart data (electrocardiogram or blood volume pulse) and electrodermal activity, and then merges the results of the branches using a predictor. The work examines various predictors. In some predictors, only the final result of the network is transferred to the loss function, and in one, the results of each branch and the whole network are taken into account. On the WESAD dataset, the single-branch model achieves an accuracy 0.983 and an F1 score 0.976, and the two-branch model achieves an accuracy 0.994 and an F1 score 0.992. On the UBFC-Phys dataset, the single-branch model achieves an accuracy of 0.922 and an F1 score of 0.945. © 2024 IEEE.

Since the advent of automobiles and driver assistance technologies, traffic sign recognition has been of the utmost importance for Industry 4.0. In the driving system, good data pre-processing is critical. For such objectives, sophisticated transformations or fundamentally computational image processing approaches are out of the question. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have been used to perform more object identification challenges, thus, improving most computer vision applications, both existing and new, because of their excellent recognition rate and rapid execution. This study introduces a method for recognizing traffic signs by utilizing a CNN-based model and the transfer learning concept. The TensorFlow library is used for training the underlying neural network model. The offered approach makes use of the German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark (GTSRB) and images from the Traffic Sign Images from Turkey (TSIT) databases. These datasets are dependable and vibrant, and they have been used to train many algorithms. Furthermore, after training the model, the proposed scheme acquired a testing accuracy is 99.44%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
