Automatic speaker verification (ASV) systems have been used in numerous voice-controlled technologies including voice banking, automobiles, smartphones, smart homes, etc. The growth of voice-operated devices is increasing exponentially, and it is mandatory to secure the ASV systems against voice spoofing attacks such as cloned and synthetic voices. The research community has worked to develop spoofing countermeasures to improve the security of ASV systems. However, existing spoofing countermeasures have limitations to detect voice conversion, synthetic speech, and voice replay attacks. There still exists a need for the development of voice spoofing detectors to further strengthen the security of voice-controlled systems. Therefore, in this study, we designed a novel spoofing countermeasure for identifying physical access (PA) and logical access (LA) attacks. More precisely, we proposed a novel acoustic feature descriptor, namely, modified local ternary patterns (MLTP), and used them to train a BiLSTM classifier for voice spoofing detection. We assessed the performance of our approach using the standard ASVspoof-2019 dataset and attained an equal error rate (EER) of 1.87% and 2.66% for the PA and LA attacks, respectively. Experimental results obtained from a detailed assessment signify that our approach has the capability to accurately classify the bonafide and spoofed audio samples over contemporary methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Anxiety disorders significantly impact individuals' quality of life and are traditionally assessed using subjective methods, which often lack accuracy. Recent advancements have enabled the use of physiological signals for anxiety classification, providing a more objective approach. However, the multidomain nature of these signals results in high-dimensional feature sets, necessitating effective feature selection. Therefore, this paper reviews various feature selection techniques-filter, wrapper, embedded, and hybrid-used in physiological-based anxiety classification, analyzing the advantages and limitations. It also highlights key challenges and suggests future research directions. Furthermore, this review introduces a proposed study utilizing a novel Corr-FGA hybrid feature selection algorithm to develop an efficient anxiety classification framework. The proposed framework achieves the highest accuracy of 88.93% using 8 features. This review aims to guide researchers in developing a robust, efficient anxiety classification model while providing insights that can help streamline feature selection and optimize machine learning model performance in real-world applications. © 2025 IEEE.

Agriculture, energy, mining, healthcare, and transportation are a few of the top industries transformed by the industrial internet of things (IIoT). Industry 4.0 mainly relies on machine learning (ML) to use the vast interconnectedness and large amounts of IIoT data that IIoT primarily drives. ML approaches are trained on confidential data generated by the IIoT environment often exposes privacy to adversarial assaults. Blockchain-based ML is established in the proposed secured IIoT research work to safeguard and enhance privacy. This research proposes a Gaussian differential privacy-integrated machine learning model (GDPIMLM), created for a scalable and controlled IIoT system, fully connected (FC) layer, implemented blockchain benefits to create a privacy-preserving mechanism while considering other limitations and reasonable time. A probability test using two altered Gaussian distributions (GD) forms the basis for defining Gaussian differential privacy (GDP). Due to a central restriction theorem for differential privacy, GDP is the primary privacy term within the family of Federal differential privacy (f-DP) policies. Ethereum is used to implement experimental evaluations. Data collections show that the recommended method enhances digital data privacy with industry-leading security without reducing performance. The performance analysis of the proposed model of secured industrial internet of things (IIoT) is studied using the accuracy of comparison with existing methods and for diverse distributed entities (DE). The proposed secured IIoT attains a minimal time consumption (TC) of 790 Sec—the highest accuracy of 92%, outperforming the existing method. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper presents the Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) modeling and simulation of power electronics in Modelica, a declarative equation-based language. In this paper, modeling of switching components such as diodes, insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) and multi-level converters using ideal and nonideal components are investigated. A three-phase three-level and a single-phase two-level converter with an open-loop controller are simulated in Modelica and EMTP®. The accuracy and performance of simulations are compared using the variable and fixed-step solvers. Cloud computing is now changing the IT landscape and playing a significant economic role for companies that develop software. Users of educational resources now have more flexibility and access because of cloud computing. Students, faculty members, and support staff all use cloud computing in academic institutions. Internet-based computing, known as "Cloud Computing,"allows users to share IT resources securely and efficiently. The use of cloud computing in universities has many benefits, such as access to files, e-mail, databases, educational resources, and search applications as requested by faculty, administrators, staff, and students at a university alike. Moreover, cloud computing significantly reduces the complexity and cost of IT in universities. This paper discusses cloud computing, its structures, types, and services it provides, and then examines the possibility of implementing cloud services in universities and discovers the various opportunities and benefits of cloud services. The paper presents a proposed model for cloud computing for Libyan universities, which was applied to the University of Benghazi and produced satisfactory results and facilitated a lot of university work. Through the application of the proposed model, effective management of the technological needs of the Libyan university has been achieved, such as connecting programs and providing a platform for development, data storage and computing. © 2023 IEEE.

Biometric technologies have been widely adopted in various commercial products, ranging from security systems to personal devices, due to their exceptional reliability and user-friendliness. Among these, palmprint biometrics has gained increasing attention for its advantages, such as ease of use, a larger surface area, and the ability to capture more features compared to other biometric methods. A typical palmprint biometric system involves five key stages: (a) Image Acquisition, (b) Hand Segmentation, (c) Pattern Generation, (d) Feature Extraction, and (e) Verification/Identification. The overall success of the system depends on the effectiveness of each stage, with hand segmentation being crucial for identifying the most relevant features for accurate verification. This study aims to achieve high-accuracy biometric recognition by segmenting hands from images captured in uncontrolled environments with complex backgrounds. Accuracy (ACC), Intersection over Union (IoU), F1-Score, and Dice Coefficient are the four critical metrics used to assess the performance of segmentation techniques. The findings demonstrate that the U-Net + ViT and MA-Net + ResNet34 techniques outperform traditional auto-encoder methods in both quantitative performance metrics and visual analysis, leading to significantly improved hand segmentation for biometric systems. © 2024 IEEE.

We created a customize DNS operator to address the shortcoming of CoreDNS in Kubernetes. While Kubernetes is gaining popularity in orchestrating containers, many organizations with Virtual Machine (VM) based legacy applications still struggle to containerize. Rehost strategy seems to be a faster method. On Kubernetes, KubeVirt can be used to manage rehosted VM. However, there is a huge difference between the long-term use of the VMs and containers. For example, container IP addresses change over time is problematic for VMs that need a static IP. In addition, some VM-based applications may require multiple network interfaces or a specific domain name for service discovery. These issues prevent some VMs from functioning properly after the migration to KubeVirt. We developed an operator framework to solve network problems that arise in the application layer such as DNS queries. In addition, we provide a guideline on how to use open-source projects like the Multus Container Network Interface, NMState to enable the migration of VMs with applications related to network function properly. Our operator and guideline allow most VMs to function properly with few modifications (to none) after migrating to KubeVirt. This facilitated the adoption of Kubernetes in more organizations. © 2022 IEEE.

The application of virtual reality (VR) across various sectors is becoming more widespread, playing a pivotal role in the advancement of the metaverse. However, the prevalence of VR sickness undermines user experiences, indicating a pressing need for optimization. Current research primarily focuses on enhancing VR hardware and investigating the relationship between human factors and VR sickness, overlooking the critical aspect of VR content. This article proposes design standards for VR scenarios, grounded in established design psychology theories, and develops six sets of VR scenarios to examine how VR content influences user experiences. We enlisted 150 college students suffering from VR sickness to participate in a study. The findings reveal that incorporating design psychology principles into VR scenarios beneficially affects participants' physiological and emotional responses. Nonetheless, the proposed design standards require further refinement, and future research is needed to validate their effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
