With the emergence of Cloud computing, Internet of Things-enabled Human-computer Interfaces, Generative Artificial Intelligence, and high-accurate Machine and Deep-learning recognition and predictive models, along with the Post Covid-19 proliferation of social networking, and remote communications, the Metaverse gained a lot of popularity. Metaverse has the prospective to extend the physical world using virtual and augmented reality so the users can interact seamlessly with the real and virtual worlds using avatars and holograms. It has the potential to impact people in the way they interact on social media, collaborate in their work, perform marketing and business, teach, learn, and even access personalized healthcare. Several works in the literature examine Metaverse in terms of hardware wearable devices, and virtual reality gaming applications. However, the requirements of realizing the Metaverse in realtime and at a large-scale need yet to be examined for the technology to be usable. To address this limitation, this paper presents the temporal evolution of Metaverse definitions and captures its evolving requirements. Consequently, we provide insights into Metaverse requirements. In addition to enabling technologies, we lay out architectural elements for scalable, reliable, and efficient Metaverse systems, and a classification of existing Metaverse applications along with proposing required future research *** Codes ***, *** © 2023, CC BY.

The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning have revolutionized various sectors, enabling unprecedented levels of innovation and efficiency. Street lights currently use more energy than other types of lighting because of an inefficient mechanism that makes the bulbs use a lot of electricity. The suggested approach uses various sensors on intelligent streetlights to keep an eye on and manage the lights. It has sensors for measuring temperature, brightness, and power that control dimming levels and keep track of status. One Zigbee network serves as the connection point for these lights. In the modification, a cloud- and IoT-based installation was made. Through Zigbee -based data transmission, sensor values are recorded on a distant server known as the Cloud. Additionally, it lowers electricity theft. We include a trash can notice in addition to this street light idea. When the garbage can is whole, a machine automatically notifies the business as people approach the sun, and the brightness of the street lights changes or is increased.

Networks play an important role in the day-to-day life of every individual. Networks are involved in the transmission of necessary information between the sender and receiver in the channel. Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is a major advancement in the field of network communication. Due to the arrival of the Micro Electromechanical System (MEMS) and several intelligent sensors, collaboration with WBAN makes accurate predictions of parameters in the human body. WBAN has numerous applications in medical and non-medical fields. WBANs have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in real-time health monitoring, facilitating the collection of vital physiological data from individuals in diverse environments. Firstly, their low-power and energy-efficient design ensures prolonged device operation, making them suitable for continuous monitoring over extended periods. Additionally, the miniaturization of sensors and the integration of wireless communication technologies enable seamless data transmission to centralized healthcare systems. Furthermore, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms in WBAN systems has enabled personalized health analytics, allowing for more precise and context-aware health monitoring. This paper gives a survey of the WBAN standard, security in WBAN, several authentication approaches, routing, and MAC protocols. In addition, this paper describes the challenges faced by WBAN, such as network partitioning, changes in postures, lifetime issues, and quality of service (QoS). At last, the advancement in WBAN is for future improvement in the area of body area networks. © 2024

Speech signal processing is a cornerstone of modern communication technologies, tasked with improving the clarity and comprehensibility of audio data in noisy environments. The primary challenge in this field is the effective separation and recognition of speech from background noise, crucial for applications ranging from voice-activated assistants to automated transcription services. The quality of speech recognition directly impacts user experience and accessibility in technology-driven communication. This review paper explores advanced clustering techniques, particularly focusing on the Kernel Fuzzy C-Means (KFCM) method, to address these challenges. Our findings indicate that KFCM, compared to traditional methods like K-Means (KM) and Fuzzy C-Means (FCM), provides superior performance in handling nonlinear and non-stationary noise conditions in speech signals. The most notable outcome of this review is the adaptability of KFCM to various noisy environments, making it a robust choice for speech enhancement applications. Additionally, the paper identifies gaps in current methodologies, such as the need for more dynamic clustering algorithms that can adapt in real time to changing noise conditions without compromising speech recognition quality. Key contributions include a detailed comparative analysis of current clustering algorithms and suggestions for further integrating hybrid models that combine KFCM with neural networks to enhance speech recognition accuracy. Through this review, we advocate for a shift towards more sophisticated, adaptive clustering techniques that can significantly improve speech enhancement and pave the way for more resilient speech processing systems. © 2024, CC BY.

Agent-based simulations have been used in modeling transportation systems for traffic management and passenger flows. In this work, we hope to shed light on the complex factors that influence transportation mode decisions within developing countries, using Colombia as a case study. We model an ecosystem of human agents that decide at each time step on the mode of transportation they would take to work. Their decision is based on a combination of their personal satisfaction with the journey they had just taken, which is evaluated across a personal vector of needs, the information they crowdsource from their prevailing social network, and their personal uncertainty about the experience of trying a new transport solution. We simulate different network structures to analyze the social influence for different decision-makers. We find that in low/medium connected groups inquisitive people actively change modes cyclically over the years while imitators cluster rapidly and change less frequently. © 2023 IEEE.

In the modern era, the internet is an emerging technology with a rapidly growing user. Sensitive content uploaders consider this platform as a way to transmit disturbing visual content, such as animated cartoon videos to circulate unsuitable content among youngsters. Previous researches show that the interaction of online sensitive information has substantial offline effects on historically impoverished communities. As a result, it is strongly recommended that social media platforms have an automatic real-time sensitive content filtering method for detecting contextual information. In this proposed model, a novel deep-learning framework is developed for detecting sensitive content from contextual information. For this, the suggested architecture performs under three stages (i) text collection, (ii) preprocessing, and (iii) detection. Initially, the required texts from the contextual information are gathered from the standard available data resource. The collected text is subjected to text preprocessing, where the text is cleaned and prepared for further analysis. Finally, in the detection phase, the developed Transformer Residual Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (TR-BiLSTM) is employed to learn the effective representation from the preprocessed text and perform the sensitive content detection. Furthermore, performance comparisons are carried out between the proposed frameworks with other standard approaches. The developed architecture achieved better results in detecting the sensitive content from the text.

Given the increasingly serious security threats faced by embedded systems, an analysis has been conducted on the characteristics and vulnerabilities of embedded systems. Detailed discussions are provided on security threats faced by embedded systems from two major aspects: hardware-based attacks such as side-channel attacks, hardware Trojans, fault injection, microprobes, and hardware reverse engineering, and software attacks aimed at damaging, tampering, and stealing. The analysis includes existing security measures both domestically and internationally, highlighting their shortcomings. Based on the concept of trusted computing, the paper offers future research suggestions from several perspectives, including theoretical research models, trusted measurement, trusted reporting, trusted sharing, and isolation of resources. Finally, an ideal comprehensive joint security enhancement scheme is proposed, and future research directions are discussed. © 2025 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Vegetables constitute a major food source with huge nutritional values as well as major source of income. The cultivation of vegetables is dictated by climate and seasonal changes across Nigeria. Edo State lies within the South of Nigeria and enjoys the two popular seasons (rainy and dry) like many other parts of the country. However, the variability in soil distribution and weather conditions across different locations is a determining factor as to the category of not just vegetables to grow but other crops. In this paper, Edo state is used as a flagship project for its diverse potentials and uniqueness in respect of known variability in soil and weather conditions. The State is divided into three geo-referenced agricultural districts. A prototype system is proposed to provide vegetable farmers with real-time information on vegetablefarming requirements. The proposed system is an Internet of things (IoT)-enabled climate variability system with interfaces to popular mobile networks, existing Geographical Information System (GIS) in the State, and remote sensing stations respectively. Each geo-referenced point is a nexus to areas with similar weather variability and soil distribution. Historical data is collected from the existing GIS and a provision is made to constantly enrich the historical data with new information from the geo-referenced points including crops grown, trends in cultivation, queries from farmers, etc. The information generated from the geo-referenced locations are routed via GPS to the central analytics server in the cloud and appropriate algorithms are used to carry out data analysis for real-time prediction and messages to farmers through the Internet and Short Message Services (SMS). With this system, it is submitted that subsistent and mechanized farmers would benefit through the guidance of an analytics system thereby boosting vegetablefarming regardless of the season of the year. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
