Healthcare systems are gaining popularity because of the advancement of new technology aiding healthcare professional for diagnosis of disease from medical modalities. The detection and classification of disease using AI and its technologies are active research areas in the last decade. Radiologist usually detects stone from the kidney using different imaging like CT scan, MRI scan, and X-ray. For the detection of stone in kidney X-ray images, various segmentation and classification methods are used. These different classification and segmentation methods are used to reduce errors and time of healthcare professional in diagnosis of stone in X-ray image. In this paper, comparison of different algorithms like thresholding algorithm, contour-based algorithm, deep learning algorithms like U-Net, U-Net++, V-Net, V-Net++, and Transformer Net are used for segmentation of stone from kidney X-ray images. The thorough comparison of different deep learning architectures in diagnosing stone from kidney X-ray images is also made in this paper. Most of the papers work on classification of stone from different medical modalities before segmentation which cause data leakage problem. Measuring semantic similarity and analyzing authorial style are fundamental tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with applications in text classification, cultural analysis, and literary studies. This paper investigates the semantic similarity and stylistic features of Nakba short stories, a key component of Palestinian literature, using transformer-based models, AraBERT, BERT, and RoBERTa. The models effectively capture nuanced linguistic structures, cultural contexts, and stylistic variations in Arabic narratives, outperforming the traditional TF-IDF baseline. By comparing stories of similar length, we minimize biases and ensure a fair evaluation of both semantic and stylistic relationships. Experimental results indicate that RoBERTa achieves slightly higher performance, highlighting its ability to distinguish subtle stylistic patterns. This study demonstrates the potential of AI-driven tools to provide more in-depth insights into Arabic literature, and contributes to the systematic analysis of both semantic and stylistic elements in Nakba narratives. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In this paper, we enrich Arabic Natural Language Processing (NLP) resources by introducing the "Nakba Topic Classification Corpus (NTCC)," a novel annotated Arabic corpus derived from narratives about the Nakba. The NTCC comprises approximately 470 sentences extracted from eight short stories and captures the thematic depth of the Nakba narratives, providing insights into both historical and personal dimensions. The corpus was annotated in a two-step process. One third of the dataset was manually annotated, achieving an IAA of 87% (later resolved to 100%), while the rest was annotated using a rule-based system based on thematic patterns. This approach ensures consistency and reproducibility, enhancing the corpus’s reliability for NLP research. The NTCC contributes to the preservation of the Palestinian cultural heritage while addressing key challenges in Arabic NLP, such as data scarcity and linguistic complexity. By like topic modeling and classification tasks, the NTCC offers a valuable resource for advancing Arabic NLP research and fostering a deeper understanding of the Nakba narratives. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Comprehensive multimodal approach for Parkinson’s disease classification using artificial intelligence: insights and model explainability

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions worldwide. Early detection is vital for effective management, yet remains challenging. In this study, we investigated four distinct datasets for PD detection. Through comprehensive experimentation employing ensemble methods and feature selection, we achieved high classification accuracies across the datasets. For the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Detection Dataset, an accuracy of 95.67%, precision of 97.59%, recall of 84.5%, specificity of 99.32%, and F1-score of 90.57% were achieved. For the Alzheimer Parkinson Diseases 3 Class Dataset, the "Stacking" approach surpasses individual models, reaching an accuracy of 99.85%, precision of 99.81%, recall of 99.81%, specificity of 99.86%, and F1 of 99.81%. For the NewHandPD dataset, Regarding the Spiral category, The "Base-P32-384" model surpasses others with an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 96.50%, recall of 98.57%, and F1-score of 97.53%. The collective "Stacking" approach proves highly effective regarding the Circle category, achieving 100% across all performance metrics. Regarding the Meander category, the "Base-P16-224" model achieves an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 99.26%, recall of 95.71%, specificity of 99.19%, and F1 of 97.45%. The Mobile Device Voice Recordings at King’s College London (MDVR-KCL) dataset contains two datasets. Regarding the "SpontaneousDialogue" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 94.03%, 92.83%, 90.78%, 100.0%, and 85.67%, respectively. Regarding the "ReadText" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 91.89%, 90.62%, 87.5%, 100.0%, and 81.25%, respectively. With the advent of state-of-the-art computer and digital technology, modern civilisation has been immensely facilitated and optimised. The Internet of Things (IoT) has grown in importance in recent years, allowing us to monitor our physical environments and broadening our horizons. The "practice, science, or art" of farming is defined as tending to land, growing crops with the use of different tools and techniques, and then selling the harvested food. If farmers optimise their operations with the help of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), they will be able to work much more efficiently and effectively. Data aggregation involves collecting information from multiple sensors. The data aggregation process is optimised by applying metaheuristic techniques. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a method for modelling evolution that uses mutation, crossover, and natural selection as its building blocks. The key benefit of the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) approach is that it simultaneously considers local and global search, and it doesn't get trapped calculating its local minima. Naturalistic algorithms like ALO model their hunting behaviour after that of ant-lions and doodlebugs. It manages to find a happy medium between exploration and exploitation with just one operator. Experimental evidences show that the proposed metaheuristic technique, ABC-ALO, which combines the best elements of Artificial Bee Colony and Ant Lion Optimisation, is superior to existing metaheuristic approaches in terms of lifetime computation, or the number of alive nodes at different round counts. © 2025

This paper introduces an advanced framework for Human Pose Estimation (HPE) and Semantic Event Classification (SEC), addressing the growing demand for sophisticated human skeleton modeling, context-aware feature extraction, and machine learning techniques for accurate event recognition in real-world scenarios. HPE, a fundamental task in applications such as sports analytics and surveillance systems, involves predicting human joint locations from visual data. Despite substantial progress driven by deep learning advancements, particularly in handling occlusions and crowded environments, a comprehensive integration of these innovations remains limited in current literature. To bridge this gap, we propose a novel HPE and SEC system featuring a robust six-stage pipeline. The workflow begins with preprocessing steps, including video-to-image sequence conversion, floor removal to reduce noise, grayscale transformation, and human silhouette extraction via binary masks. Human detection is performed using the GrabCut algorithm. Full-body feature extraction incorporates 1-D Fourier Transform, 2-D energy-based motion analysis, 0–180° intensity mapping via the Radon Transform algorithm, and movable body part detection using Fourier-Based Correlation. Key point features are characterized through the degree of freedom, human landmark detection via the HSV algorithm, and angular point analysis using the media pipe algorithm. Features are then optimized using the Ray Optimizer and classified through a Neuro-Fuzzy classifier. The proposed system achieves classification accuracies of 94.82%, 92.33%, and 93.63% on the UCF Sports Actions, Human Action Recognition (HAR), and MPII Human Pose datasets, respectively, outperforming state-of-the-art methods and demonstrating its effectiveness in tackling real-world challenges. © 2025 The Authors. Smartphones contain a vast amount of information about their users, which can be used as evidence in criminal cases. However, the sheer volume of data can make it challenging for forensic investigators to identify and use the most relevant information. Neutrosophic logic is a generalization of fuzzy logic that allows for uncertainty and vagueness, making it a more potent tool for dealing with the ambiguity of real-world data. The proposed framework aims to identify and utilize the most relevant information for forensic investigators, making it easier to solve criminal cases using Neutrosophic logic. This novel approach provides a more powerful tool for dealing with the ambiguity of smartphone data, ultimately improving the accuracy and effectiveness of forensic investigations. Our research has utilized Neutrosophic logic to evaluate the degree of truth, falsity, or Indeterminacy of this information. Additionally, this study analyzes conversations between individuals using Excel’s fuzzy lookup add-in to determine the percentage of truth and false in each conversation. The results were compiled into a dataset and utilized a Neutrosophic Python code to evaluate the information. The results indicate the percentage of truth, false, and Indeterminacy in each conversation and which can be used to determine its admissibility as evidence and which not. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Explainable Artificial Intelligence Driven Segmentation for Cervical Cancer Screening

Cervical cancer remains an important global health challenge among women. Early and accurate identification of abnormal cervical cells is crucial for effective treatment and improved survival rates. This paper addresses the development of a novel weakly supervised segmentation framework that combines binary classification, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques, and GraphCut to automate cervical cancer screening. Unlike traditional segmentation methods that rely on pixel-level annotations of medical images, which are costly, laborious, and require expertise in medical imaging, our approach leverages classification-driven insights to segment the nucleus, cytoplasm, and background regions. A key innovation of our framework is the use of XAI techniques such as Grad-CAM++ and LRP combined with GraphCut, to enable annotation-free segmentation using only classification-level labels. This represents a pioneering application of explainability techniques in the context of cervical cancer screening. Among the classification models explored, including fine-tuned variants of VGGNet and XceptionNet, VGG16-Adapted128 achieved the highest performance, marked by an accuracy of 0.94, precision of 0.94, recall of 0.94, and an F1 score of 0.94. This novel segmentation framework employed LRP and GradCAM++ as XAI techniques to gain insight into the decision-making process of classification models, with GradCAM++ demonstrating greater effectiveness. The performance of these XAI methods was assessed through both visual inspection and quantitative metrics, including entropy and pixel flipping. This innovative approach to segmentation is formally introduced through two algorithms detailed in this paper. The weakly supervised segmentation framework achieved a Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) of 62.05% and an Intersection over Union (IoU) of 61.89%. Abnormal event detection in video surveillance is critical for security, traffic management, and industrial monitoring applications. This paper introduces an innovative methodology for anomaly detection in video data, encompassing three primary stages: preprocessing, feature learning, and anomaly detection. We employ background subtraction and noise reduction during preprocessing to refine the data. The feature-learning stage involves training an LSTM autoencoder to capture the essential features of normal video sequences. For anomaly detection, we map video data to a lower-dimensional space (latent code) and compare it against the distribution of codes from normal sequences. We determine regularity scores and identify local minima points exceeding a specified threshold while scrutinizing shadows between adjacent maxima to confirm and pinpoint anomalies. When tested on the CUHK Avenue and UMN datasets, our methodology demonstrated performance with AUCs of 93.8% and 94.1%, respectively, outperforming several baseline models. Our results show the high precision of our method that can detect anomalies, highlighting its potential advantages that it can achieve for enhancing systems of surveillance. © The Author(s) 2025.
