An existing infrastructure can be linked to billions of devices, or "things,"through the Internet of Things (IoT). This allows for machine-to-machine communication as well as human-to-human communication. Massive volumes of data are being generated due to the proliferation of devices globally, which permeates every facet of everyday life. Thus, new problems are emerging as a result of the development and use of existing technologies, and these problems pertain to new applications, regulations, cloud computing, security, and privacy. With its decentralized nature, the blockchain has the potential to protect users' and data's privacy. This study introduces a novel method that makes use of lightweight blockchain technology to significantly lessen the computing load usually seen in traditional blockchain systems. Implementation time and computational complexity can be significantly reduced by connecting this lightweight blockchain with IoT devices. Improved safety is achieved by the use of CA-LSTM (channel attention long short-term memory) technology for attack detection. In order to improve the CA-LSTM algorithm's solution, the suggested system uses the RMSSO algorithm as a hyperparameter tuning technique. Similarly, to found very little power consumption and physical memory utilization;for example, Raspberry Pi devices used 0.2 GB of memory and NVIDIA Jetson devices used 0.42 GB. With the deployed model, power consumption increased by an average of 15% per device. This technology makes it easier to build certain types of business models and gives decentralized apps the ability to securely compute on encrypted data without compromising user privacy. The findings confirm that the proposed system is very secure, on par with conventional blockchain implementations. © 2024 IEEE.

In an era marked by escalating cybersecurity threats,our study addresses the challenge of malware variant detection,a significant concern for amultitude of sectors including petroleum and mining *** paper presents an innovative Application Programmable Interface(API)-based hybrid model designed to enhance the detection performance of malware *** model integrates eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)and an Artificial Neural Network(ANN)classifier,offering a potent response to the sophisticated evasion and obfuscation techniques frequently deployed by malware *** model’s design capitalizes on the benefits of both static and dynamic analysis to extract API-based features,providing a holistic and comprehensive view of malware *** these features,we construct two XGBoost predictors,each of which contributes a valuable perspective on the malicious activities under *** outputs of these predictors,interpreted as malicious scores,are then fed into an ANN-based classifier,which processes this data to derive a final *** strength of the proposed model lies in its capacity to leverage behavioral and signature-based features,and most importantly,in its ability to extract and analyze the hidden relations between these two types of *** efficacy of our proposed APIbased hybrid model is evident in its performance *** outperformed other models in our tests,achieving an impressive accuracy of 95%and an F-measure of 93%.This significantly improved the detection performance of malware variants,underscoring the value and potential of our approach in the challenging field of cybersecurity.

Coronavirus(COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2)is a novel viral infection that started in December 2019 and has erupted rapidly in more than 150 *** rapid spread of COVID-19 has caused a global health emergency and resulted in governments imposing lock-downs to stop its *** is a signiﬁ-cant increase in the number of patients infected,resulting in a lack of test resources and kits in most *** overcome this panicked state of affairs,researchers are looking forward to some effective solutions to overcome this situa-tion:one of the most common and effective methods is to examine the X-radiation(X-rays)and computed tomography(CT)images for detection of ***-ever,this method burdens the radiologist to examine each ***,to reduce the burden on the radiologist,an effective,robust and reliable detection system has been developed,which may assist the radiologist and medical specia-list in effective detecting of *** proposed a deep learning approach that uses readily available chest radio-graphs(chest X-rays)to diagnose COVID-19 *** proposed approach applied transfer learning to the Deep Convolutional Neural Network(DCNN)model,Inception-v4,for the automatic detection of COVID-19 infection from chest X-rays *** dataset used in this study contains 1504 chest X-ray images,504 images of COVID-19 infection,and 1000 normal images obtained from publicly available medical *** results showed that the proposed approach detected COVID-19 infection with an overall accuracy of 99.63%.

In the workplace, risk prevention helps detect the risks and prevent accidents. To achieve this, workers' mental and physical parameters related to their health should be focused on and analyzed. It helps improve the workers' mental health and thus improves organizational performance. There are a lot of mental illnesses due to excess work and a lack of professional knowledge. It affects the performance of the worker. So, the organization needs to conduct competency training programs to improve their professional skills and the mindset to tackle the work pressure. There are several competency training programs given in various organizations to mold the workers, and it considerably reduces workplaces risks. Competency training in the workplace teaches integrity, honesty, managerial skills, and other workers. Developing organizational skills is the primary concern in this competency training. This paper enabled one of the best machine learning algorithms to be chosen to predict the hazards in the workplace and provide a healthy environment to the workers. For that, several classification methods such as Logistic Regression, Decision trees, AdaBoost classifier, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting classifier, and XGBoost classifier are implemented experimented with, and the performance is verified with python software. From the comparison, it has been found that the XGBoost classifier is selected as the best classifier and identified that it is highly suitable for analyzing and predicting workplace risks data. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Fractal dimension analysis for improved decision-making in non-stationary multi-arm bandit problems: a machine learning approach

In this research, we propose a novel approach to addressing the exploration–exploitation dilemma in multi-armed bandit (MAB) algorithms using fractal dimensions. The fractal dimension is used in the algorithms to represent the reward distributions of arms which represents the uncertainty of the arm in receiving the reward. The fractal dimension of the reward distribution is implemented in the most popular MAB optimization algorithms, such as Epsilon-Greedy, Upper Confidence Bound (UCB), Exponential-weight algorithm for Exploration and Exploitation (EXP3), and Thompson Sampling in this study. The algorithm prefers to choose arm with the least fractal dimension, as a lower fractal dimension represents less uncertainty of the arm. The performance of the fractal-enhanced MAB optimization algorithms is compared with traditional algorithms in non-stationary environments with various numbers of arms. The proposed approach provides a novel way to quantify and utilize the uncertainty of each arm in MAB problems.

The system will monitor and analyse food quality along the supply chain in real time. The system has high performance due to the CNN algorithms. In terms of accuracy, CNN has a high performance (95.2%), precision (92.8%), recall (94.5%) and F1 score (93.6 %). These features enable the model to predict food quality under good and poor conditions, thus demonstrating its effectiveness in assessing quality. The accuracy of real-time monitoring was evaluated across the supply chain to prove system reliability. Accuracy ratings for transport, storage and processing were 96.3%, 94.7% and 92.1%. These results show the robustness of this system within dynamic supply chain environments. Further testing evaluated environmental resilience capabilities. Under normal conditions, the accuracy of this system was 95.2%, while it reduced to 92.6% and rises again up to a level of 94.3%. The adaptability of the system under harsh conditions demonstrates that it can be applied to ensure food quality in various cases. This study reveals how proposed AI-based intelligent Internet of Things system may be used for real application using an appropriate dataset selected properly. This approach can help improve the quality assurance of food in an industry that is complex by uniting advanced algorithms with real-time data monitoring. © 2024 IEEE.

Expression of hate content through social media is prevalent and a global issue. The objective of this paper is to conduct analysis on hate content research and suggest policies to combat online hate content. The Scopus database containing published articles is queried with a set of keywords and filtering techniques to obtain relevant documents on hate content research. Different bibliometric analysis approaches such as bibliometric coupling, co-occurrence of keywords and citation analysis of documents are applied on selected dataset. Bibliometric analysis resulted with major sources of hate content research, most associated keywords with hate content and top cited articles. From the year 2015 onwards, there is a rapid increase in hate content research. Currently, different social media and its content are the most associated keywords with hate content. © 2024 IEEE.

This comprehensive review starts with diving into the progress and real-world applications of combining multi-omics data analysis with machine learning techniques in cancer research. Multi-omics involves examining various biological data types like genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics together to enhance our understanding of complex biological systems. By merging machine learning with multiomics data, we highlight the advantages for cancer studies, the deeper insights they yield and increased performance and results. Furthermore, we explore existing literature that showcases the integration of multi-omics and machine learning in cancer research. As part of our study, we conduct an experiment utilizing a multiomics dataset to predict the survival of breast cancer patients. We compare three distinct machine learning methods-ensemble, DeepProg, and DCAP-for survival prediction and conclude that despite the ensemble method that increased the prediction results of DeepProg over DCAP in multi-model setting, but the primitive capacity for DCAP is better in single model setting and achieves higher accuracy than DeepProg with noticeable margin 0.628 to 0.57 on C-Index metric, which strongly recommends using Denoising Autoencoder as the base for dimensionality reduction over the vanilla Autoencoder. Another empirical results conclude that using gaussian mixture model with diagonal covariance matrix for Clustering, which is used in DeepProg, might hinder the process for identifying reasonable clusters due to the assumption of no or zero correlation between different features which might not hold true in our problem. © 2023 IEEE.

PPG signal is a valuable resource for continuous heart rate monitoring;however, this signal suffers from artifact movements, which is particularly relevant during physical exercise and makes this biomedical signal difficult to use for heart rate detection during those activities. The purpose of this study was to develop learning models to determine heart rate using data from wearables (PPG and acceleration signals) and dealing with noise during physical exercise. Learning models based on CNNs and LSTMs were developed to predict the heart rate. The PPG signal was combined with data from accelerometers trying to overcome the noise movement on the PPG signal. Two datasets were used on this work: the 2015 IEEE Signal Processing Cup (SPC) dataset was used for training and testing, and another dataset was used for validation of the learning model (PPG-DaLiA dataset). The predictions obtained by the learning model represented a mean average error of 7.033±5.376 bpm for the SCP dataset, while a mean average error of 9.520±8.443 bpm for the validation set. The use of acceleration data increases the performance of the learning models on the prediction of the heart rate, showing the benefits of using this source of data to overcome the noise movement problem on the PPG signal. The combination of PPG signal with acceleration data could allow the learning models to use more information regarding the motion artifacts that affect the PPG and improve performance on the physiological event detections, which will largely spread the use of wearables on the healthcare applications for continuous monitor the physiological state allowing early and accurate detection of pathological events. © 2023 IEEE.
