Towards an Accurate Liver Disease Prediction Based on Two-level Ensemble Stacking Model

The difficulty of detecting liver disease at an early stage goes back to its limited number of symptoms. In this study, single and ensemble machine learning (ML) algorithms are applied to the Indian Liver Patient Dataset (ILPD) dataset, and their results, without and with feature selection techniques, are compared between each other and to the existing studies. Also, a two-level ensemble stacking model is applied based on several meta-ensemble classifiers and the feature selection technique to optimize the accuracy of the ensemble classifiers. Several data preprocessing techniques are employed to optimize the accuracy of the proposed work, including data encoding, data cleaning, data scaling, data skewing transformation, data balancing, and feature selection. The choices of single model ML are logistic regression (LR), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), decision tree (DT), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and multilayer perceptron (MLP). In contrast, the choices of ensemble ML models are extra tree classifier, random forest (RF), gradient boosting, AdaBoost, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and ensemble stacking classifier. Among the ensemble models, the ensemble stacking model achieved the highest accuracies (93.88% and 94.12%) when trained without and with the feature selection technique using the 10-fold cross-validation. The two-level ensemble stacking model achieved the highest performance with the metrics values: accuracy (94.01%), Precision (94.44%), Recall (94.25%), F1-score (94.01%), and area under the ROC curve (94.25%) when trained with feature selection technique. These results indicate that our proposed technique achieved a high prediction model for liver disease. © 2013 IEEE.

In today's world, digital platforms such as social media have become one of the most influential media sources. This may give an impact on company reputation due to massive user-generated content. However, due to its vast volume and unstructured nature, manual classification of these digital contents is difficult. Previous studies, evaluate corporate reputation using machine learning-focused mostly on positive, neutral, and negative aspects and lacking the multidimensional nature of corporate reputation. Therefore, this paper aimed to explore the integration of the domain ontology approach with machine learning approaches to achieve multi-dimensional classification for online corporate reputation. Overall research route to measure corporate reputation in social media is discussed. The proposed research route starts from retrieving corporate content from digital media for selected domain, next preprocessing data before topics and bag-of-words generated from the extracted data and mapping according to corporate reputation dimensions. The proposed approach is expected to produce a framework for an online corporate reputation that can be used across multiple business domains. © 2021 IEEE.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet with regular exercise is important for maintaining physical and mental health. Healthy diet and exercise promise a healthier lifestyle. Other than that, people competing in different sports need a customized, strict workout and diet plan. Trainees offer their best at gymnasium by following a strict workout plan recommended by their coaches. However, there is no way till now to determine if the trainees are taking the prescribed diet strictly. Therefore, an optimized application with the feature of real time scanning of the prescribed meal can be helpful to overcome this problem. For this purpose, we have used Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) along with Image Processing. Using ResNet50 with activation functions of ReLU and Softmax, our trained CNN model and the proposed architecture achieved an accuracy of 82.70 percent. We used CNN pre-trained models such as InceptionV3 with LeakyReLU and Softmax, InceptionV3 with ReLU and Softmax, VGG16 with ReLU and Softmax, VGG16 with ReLU and Softmax, and ResNet50 with ReLU and Softmax, so the achieved accuracy, respectively, is 78%, 71%, 58%, 56%, and 82.7%. Therefore, the proposed model has the potential to achieve high performance on real time food scanning which can be used in online fitness platforms(mobile applications and websites) and fitness gadgets.

Prior study has developed the RouteSegmentation algorithm to identify the perimeter area surrounding a route. In this study, a comparative experiment was carried out to investigate the performance of the RouteSegmentation algorithm implementation in contrast to the RouteBoxer algorithm. Both algorithms play a crucial role in geographical information systems (GIS), particularly in enhancing navigational tools by identifying points of interest along specified routes. Through systematic experimentation using various perimeter distance values and types of route, the trade-offs between processing efficiency and the granularity of the area identified by these algorithms were evaluated. The results demonstrate that RouteSegmentation maintained relatively consistent performance across different perimeter distance values and statistically significantly faster processing time than RouteBoxer. Furthermore, while the RouteBoxer algorithm benefits from larger perimeter distance values by reducing processing time, it compromises the coverage results of the algorithm and potentially undermines its usefulness in practical scenarios. This study not only provides insights into the optimal use of perimeter distance values for each algorithm but also guides users in selecting the appropriate algorithm based on their specific application needs, balancing detailed geographical analysis and runtime efficiency.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has gained attention for its rapid growth in the past few years. IoT devices such as temperature and humidity sensors and voice controllers are implemented widely, from household appliances to industrial machines. However, with the rapid growth and benefits IoT offers, we are exposed to various security vulnerabilities, such as data breaches and IoT-specific malware. Researchers are using IoT device identification as a solution for IoT security issues. IoT device identification helps network administrators identify network traffic into its originating devices. However, researchers often overlook an important issue in IoT device identification, which is accuracy degradation over time. Thus, this paper explores the severity of accuracy degradation in IoT device identification on different traffic representation approaches, which are flow, sub-flow, and packet. This paper utilizes a private, and the UNSW IoT Traffic Traces public dataset. Based on the experimental findings, the sub-flow-based approach recorded the best overall performance, with only 8% degradation in the private dataset and 1% degradation in the public dataset. Meanwhile, even though the packet-based approach only degraded 5% on the private dataset, it recorded up to an 11% accuracy decrease in the public dataset. © 2022 IEEE.

Recently,renewable energy(RE)has become popular due to its benefits,such as being inexpensive,low-carbon,ecologically friendly,steady,and *** RE sources are gradually combined with non-renewable energy(NRE)sources into electric grids to satisfy energy *** energy utilization is highly related to national energy policy,energy prediction using artificial intelligence(AI)and deep learning(DL)based models can be employed for energy prediction on RE and NRE power *** energy consumption of RE and NRE sources using effective models becomes *** this motivation,this study presents a new multimodal fusionbased predictive tool for energy consumption prediction(MDLFM-ECP)of RE and NRE power *** data may influence the prediction performance of the results in prediction *** proposed MDLFMECP technique involves pre-processing,fusion-based prediction,and hyperparameter *** addition,the MDLFM-ECP technique involves the fusion of four deep learning(DL)models,namely long short-termmemory(LSTM),bidirectional LSTM(Bi-LSTM),deep belief network(DBN),and gated recurrent unit(GRU).Moreover,the chaotic cat swarm optimization(CCSO)algorithm is applied to tune the hyperparameters of the DL *** design of the CCSO algorithm for optimal hyperparameter tuning of the DL models,showing the novelty of the work.A series of simulations took place to validate the superior performance of the proposed method,and the simulation outcome emphasized the improved results of the MDLFM-ECP technique over the recent approaches with minimum overall mean absolute percentage error of 3.58%.

Wetland degradation has been accelerating in recent years globally. Accurate information on the geographic distribution and categories of wetlands is essential for their conservation and management. Despite being the world′s fourth largest continent, South America has limited research on wetland mapping, and there is currently no available map that provides comprehensive information on wetland distribution and categories in the region. To address this issue, we used Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and SRTM data, developed a sample collection method and a wetland mapping method with a collection of multi-source features such as optical features, polarization features and shape features for South American wetlands. We produced a 10-m resolution wetland map based on the Google Earth Engine(GEE) platform. Our Level-1 wetland cover map accurately captured six wetland sub-categories with an overall accuracy of 96.24% and a kappa coefficient of 0.8649, while our Level-2 water cover map included five sub-categories with an overall accuracy of 97.23% and a kappa coefficient of0.9368. The results show that the total area of existing wetlands in South America is approximately 1,737,000 km~2, which is6.8% of the total land area. Among the ten wetland categories, shallow sea had the largest area(960,527.4 km~2), while aquaculture ponds had the smallest area 1513.6 km~2. Swamp had the second largest area(306,240.1 km~2). Brazil, Argentina,Venezuela, Bolivia, and Colombia were found to have the largest wetland areas, with Brazil and Colombia having the most diverse wetland categories. This product can serve as baseline data for subsequent monitoring, management, and conservation of South American wetlands.

CT-Scan is a computer-based imaging technology, but it presents certain weaknesses, including interpretation challenges, lengthy analysis times, and visualization limitations. The progress in digital image processing science empowers computers to identify objects through recognizing distinctive features. To facilitate further data processing, an image cropping method is essential to narrow down the area of interest, as not all parts of an object require processing. However, using a rectangular cropping method can lead to a reduction in image size, potentially compromising image quality and causing blurring when displayed on the same axes. To uphold image quality and avert blurring, maintaining the cropped image’s size becomes crucial. The developed rectangular cropping method successfully preserves the cropped image’s size by adjusting the intensity values of pixels surrounding the cutting point. Coordinate points within the cropping rectangle delineate the region where pixel intensity values are modified. In this study, input images were sourced from CT-scan images of M. Djamil Hospital, Padang, West Sumatra, in jpg format. The developed algorithm underwent testing using the Matlab program, employing the rectangle method for image cropping to ensure the image size remained constant. The study’s outcomes reveal no disparity in the number of pixels obtained when employing the developed rectangular cropping method. Based on the experiments carried out in this study using 8 input images that were successfully maintained, the size of the image from the cropped image was 8 images and 0 images were unsuccessful, so the accuracy obtained in this study was 100%.

Imbalanced data significantly impacts the efficacy of machine learning models. In cases where one class greatly outweighs the other in terms of sample count, models might develop a bias towards the majority class, thereby undermining the performance of the minority class. Imbalanced data act to increase the risk of overfitting, as the model may memorize the majority of class samples instead of learning underlying patterns. This paper addresses these challenges in the classification field by exploring various solutions, including under-sampling, oversampling, SMOTE, cost-sensitive learning, and ensemble deep learning methods. The evaluate the performance of these methods on different datasets and provide insights into their strengths and limitations. The paper presents a taxonomy of strategies for imbalanced binary and multi-class classification problems, including resampling, algorithmic, and hybrid methods. Ultimately, the paper furnishes guidelines to facilitate the selection of the most pertinent method for mitigating imbalanced data challenges within a specific classification context.

The use of covert communications has become more widespread recently as a solution to the information security issue. information security can be partially solved by the discovery and creation of covert routes. Covert channel use is still in its early phases, even though information security concerns are growing as a result of quick technology advancements. As a result, several problems and concerns need to be resolved, and the future plan is foggy. This paper seeks to give a thorough comparison of earlier and more recent attempts in this field. It offers a survey of the literature on the drawbacks and gaps in conventional detection techniques, emphasizing the most recent techniques for discovering and creating these covert channels while carefully considering machine learning and deep learning-based detection techniques. Additionally, it broadens the topic to cover the crucial function that these channels play in technology. Timing channels, storage channels, and hybrid channels are just a few of the ways covert channels may be utilized to transfer data. They can be used to get around security measures like intrusion detection systems and firewalls. Additionally, they may be used to steal confidential data from a system, including passwords, credit card numbers, and intellectual property. system security is seriously threatened by covert channels, and more study on covert channel production and detection is required to stay up with the changing threat environment.
