The availability of Arabic text documents on the Internet entails the use of convenient Arabic text classification (TC) techniques. Arabic TC requires extensive work in analyzing the content of valuable Arabic documents. Its rich vocabulary, semantic ambiguity, and words with semantic relations characterize the Arabic language. Therefore, using a bag-of-words (BoWs) text representation model may yield unsatisfactory results. This study is concerned with utilizing synsets and semantic relations from the original words to enhance Arabic TC accuracy. These relations are extracted using the Arabic WordNet (AWN) thesaurus as a lexical and semantic provenance. AWN provides various semantic relations for the original word. Some relations are more beneficial than others with respect to dataset content. Consequently, we suggest either assigning a weight for each relation, at which, the effect of weak relations can be minimized and the strong relations can be boosted, or selection of appropriate semantic relations. In this paper, two approaches are suggested, relation weighting scheme and relation grouping scheme. At the first approach, a developed weighting scheme for assigning weights to relations and their respective words, on the bases of Akhbar Al Khaleej dataset, is proposed. This method generates a large training file that contains the original words along with the corresponding relations extracted from AWN, as well as their weights. The second approach is based on relation grouping, at which two different types of relations are grouped based on one of three criterions (related semantic meaning, frequency occurrence (FO) of relations in AWN, and the ratio between the FO of relations in the dataset with respect to the FO of the corresponding relation in the AWN). Naive Bayes is used as a classifier, and F1 measure is used to assess the performance of the proposed methods. Tenfold cross-validation scheme is used to reduce the variability of the results. This research introduces the distributed ledger technology (blockchain) in terms of sustainable development in the future. This study is based on private, public and global communications in various industries. The growing demands for secure and decentralized transactions around the world demonstrate the need for Blockchain technology as a medium of operations and communications. The blockchain system is completely decentralized and allows users to exchange messages in an efficient and secure manner. The highlight of the paper is the anticipated future use of blockchain networks as a communication tool in every business and digital economy for a safe and sustainable development, while presenting its advantages and limitations that have been confirmed based on the experiences of various experts. Moreover, the article provides recommendations for the use of blockchain to greatly complicate its identification in future communications. The paper also concludes that the use of the blockchain system could be beneficial and enhance future communications and digital technologies. © 2021 IEEE.

The growing demand for location-based services in areas like virtual reality, robot control, and navigation has intensified the focus on indoor localization. Visible light positioning (VLP), leveraging visible light communications (VLC), becomes a promising indoor positioning technology due to its high accuracy and low cost. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of VLP systems. In particular, since VLC lays the foundation for VLP, we first present a detailed overview of the principles of VLC. Then, we provide an in-depth overview of VLP algorithms. The performance of each positioning algorithm is also compared in terms of various metrics such as accuracy, coverage, and orientation limitation. Beyond the physical layer studies, the network design for a VLP system is also investigated, including multi-access technologies, resource allocation, and light-emitting diode (LED) placements. Next, the applications of the VLP systems are overviewed. Finally, this paper outlines open issues, challenges, and opportunities for the research field. In a nutshell, this paper constitutes the first holistic survey on VLP from state-of-the-art studies to practical uses. © 1998-2012 IEEE.

In the new era, various communication systems rapidly evolve to pertain the user's needs. One of these emerging communication systems, which is crucial to providing better life aspects, is the Internet of Things (IoT). Communications between the devices in the IoT is the core part of the system. There are two types of communication between the devices in the IoT; short-range wireless communication and long-range wired or wireless communication. This paper is dedicated to discuss the short-range wireless communication in the IoT. These are not to limit but short-range wireless communication includes Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wireless-Fidelity (WiFi), Light-Fidelity (LiFi), Radio-frequency Identification (RFID), or ZigBee. This paper addresses the LiFi short-range wireless communication system from the operations, modulation techniques, and IEEE 802.15.7 layer architecture. Finally, a comparison of these short-range wireless communications has been made to comprehend their importance in the life of the IoT.

information systems have an essential role in the development of technology and information in Indonesia. information systems are employed and utilized in many facets of society and organizations. Digitizing and utilizing this information system will often form an integrated relationship between several digital sectors into an ecosystem or what is commonly called a digital ecosystem. Digital ecosystem provides benefits for users by exchanging data between systems within it since only one user account could access several systems or services in the ecosystem. The development of user management in the digital ecosystem will serve as a solution to accommodate the increasing number of users of the digital ecosystem. Iterative incremental development methods are used in the development of user management in Ihya digital ecosystem. The system was also tested using scenario tests, user acceptance tests, and load tests. Based on the results of the tests, the Ihya digital ecosystem user management module has met user needs with a User Acceptance Test value of 82.5%. Further development can be done in this research, including using APIs in the data exchange process and adding a two-factor authentication feature to improve data security.

Temporal characteristics are prominently evident in a substantial volume of knowledge, which underscores the pivotal role of Temporal Knowledge Graphs (TKGs) in both academia and industry. However, TKGs often suffer from incompleteness for three main reasons: the continuous emergence of new knowledge, the weakness of the algorithm for extracting structured information from unstructured data, and the lack of information in the source dataset. Thus, the task of Temporal Knowledge Graph Completion (TKGC) has attracted increasing attention, aiming to predict missing items based on the available information. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of TKGC methods and their details. Specifically, this paper mainly consists of three components, namely, 1) Background, which covers the preliminaries of TKGC methods, loss functions required for training, as well as the dataset and evaluation protocol;2) Interpolation, that estimates and predicts the missing elements or set of elements through the relevant available information. It further categorizes related TKGC methods based on how to process temporal information;3) Extrapolation, which typically focuses on continuous TKGs and predicts future events, and then classifies all extrapolation methods based on the algorithms they utilize. Decisions related to education are complex and have long-term consequences. For higher education students, most of these decisions are made when students are young and with little academic experience;these decisions can potentially influence students to postpone the completion of academic tasks or make unwise decisions. In this research, an e-nudging model is proposed for higher education in Saudi Arabia (SA), offering early and low-cost support for universities to encourage students to make better. A mixed-methods approach (an explanatory sequential design) was adopted, and two online surveys were designed to target academics and IT staff. The survey of academics and IT staff yielded two new factors: training and support for both instructors and students and awareness of e-nudges. The students' survey showed that 45.30% of university students are struggling to maintain attention and 29.66% have issues with memory. The interview phase was conducted with twenty-five expert academics who were invited to give their perceptions about the e-nudging model, and two new factors were generated, namely “define students' barriers: behavior, cognitive and environmental” and “ethics of e-nudge”. The position of the evaluation stage in the e-nudging model was changed to make the purpose and functionality of this stage clearer to the readers. In the future, this research can be re-conducted in other developing countries, especially the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries which share many common characteristics such as culture, religion, social mores, languages, and economic and financial systems. © 2025 The Author(s)

A human living in certain area was controlled by dynamic environmental condition. The dynamic changes of environment condition including temperature and humidity were the main factor influencing the climatological human living comfort. Various of those factors were specific and unique following the characteristics of that area. Most characteristics of that determined to analyse temperature and humidity were elevation and land coverage. The more difference of both elevation and land coverage were, the more various human living comfort was. That condition could be measured by Heat and Humidity Index (Humidex) using temperature and humidity data. Gadingkulon was one of area where landcover changes took place fast enough. The vegetation changes to be built-up areas were dominated by residential area nowadays. This research aims to analyse Humidex of Gadingkulon followed by dominant influencing factor of the index, whether elevation or land cover. To do so, both SRTM 30 meters imagery and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite imagery was used to present spatial distribution of elevation and vegetation indices (NDVI), respectively. Correlation of elevation to Humidex and NDVI to Humidex were measured statistically. Linear regression was also used to show the mathematical relationship of both variables to Humidex. The result showed that determination coefficient of elevation to Humidex was 0,70 (it means that contribution of 70%) which was more correlate than that of NDVI to Humidex. Comparing the previous correlation, NDVI to Humidex's correlation only delivered the contribution of 58 % influencing human living comfort. It strongly indicated that climatological comfort of human living was more controlled by elevation. The difference of landcover density was not quite strong enough to control that comfort condition of Gadingkulon. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Recent methods for deep metric learning have been focusing on designing different contrastive loss functions between positive and negative pairs of samples so that the learned feature embedding is able to pull positive samples of the same class closer and push negative samples from different classes away from each other. In this work, we recognize that there is a significant semantic gap between features at the intermediate feature layer and class labels at the final output layer. To bridge this gap, we develop a contrastive Bayesian analysis to characterize and model the posterior probabilities of image labels conditioned by their features similarity in a contrastive learning setting. This contrastive Bayesian analysis leads to a new loss function for deep metric learning. To improve the generalization capability of the proposed method onto new classes, we further extend the contrastive Bayesian loss with a metric variance constraint. Our experimental results and ablation studies demonstrate that the proposed contrastive Bayesian metric learning method significantly improves the performance of deep metric learning in both supervised and pseudo-supervised scenarios, outperforming existing methods by a large margin. © 2022, CC0.

The increasing use of IoT devices on future networks is very helpful for humans in their lives. However, the increase in devices connected to IoT networks also increases the potential for attacks against those networks. Vulnerabilities in Internet of Things (IoT) networks can be exposed at any time. Artificial intelligence can be used to protect the IoT network by being able to detect attacks on the network so that they can be prevented. In this study, network detection was carried out using the Deep Neural Network (DNN) algorithm. The test was carried out using the UNSW Bot-IoT dataset with a comparison of training data of 75% of the overall data. The results obtained show the ability of the algorithm to detect attacks on average with 99.999% accuracy. The validation loss and training loss look very small. In this study, there is a validation loss that still occurs in overfitting, but the difference is very small.
