Area and Power Efficient FFT/IFFT Processor for FALCON Post-Quantum Cryptography

Quantum computing is an emerging technology on the verge of reshaping industries, while simultaneously challenging existing cryptographic algorithms. FALCON, a recent standard quantum-resistant digital signature, presents a challenging hardware implementation due to its extensive non-integer polynomial operations, necessitating FFT over the ring Q[x]/(x n+1). This paper introduces an ultra-low-power and compact processor tailored for FFT/IFFT operations over the ring for efficient FALCON implementation. The proposed processor incorporates various optimization techniques, including twiddle factor compression and conflict-free scheduling. In an ASIC implementation using a 22 nm GF process, the proposed processor demonstrates an area occupancy of 0.15 mm2 and a power consumption of 12.6 mW/28.1 mW at an operating frequency of 167 MHz/500 MHz for the non-pipelined/pipelined version of the processor. Since a hardware implementation of FFT/IFFT over the ring is currently non-existent, the execution time achieved by this processor is compared to the reference software implementation of FFT/IFFT of FALCON on a Raspberry Pi 4 with Cortex-A72, where the proposed pipelined processor achieves a speedup up to 3.8×. Furthermore, in comparison to dedicated state-of-the-art hardware accelerators for classic FFT, the pipelined architecture occupies 42% less area and consumes 64% less power, on average. information communications technology (ICT) refers to the technology used for communication and managing information must be utilized to enhance the environment, economics, mobility, and governance, among other facets of urban life, in order to create smart cities. However this progress is frequently accompanied by a number of challenges and unfavorable outcomes. This study aims to uncover ICT difficulties related to smart city infrastructure through an extensive literature review. In addition, a survey was carried out among Saudi nationals to find out what they thought about, anticipated, and worried about in terms of smart city concepts and features. The study also looked at a literature checklist of ICT problems, which included dangers to information security, incompatibilities across systems, privacy concerns, and deficiencies in digital capabilities. Based on the findings it appears that privacy breaches and information security concerns are the most important issues. This is explained by heightened susceptibility and potential, cyberattacks and a pervasive ignorance of the protection of personal data. Because of the anticipated high costs and difficulties with adaption and utilization, the public is concerned about incompatibility between systems and services. Object segmentation and recognition is an imperative area of computer vision andmachine learning that identifies and separates individual objects within an image or video and determines classes or categories based on their *** proposed system presents a distinctive approach to object segmentation and recognition using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs).The system takes RGB images as input and uses a k-means clustering-based segmentation technique to fragment the intended parts of the images into different regions and label thembased on their ***,two distinct kinds of features are obtained from the segmented images to help identify the objects of *** Artificial Neural Network(ANN)is then used to recognize the objects based on their *** were carried out with three standard datasets,MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 which are extensively used in object recognition research,to measure the productivity of the suggested *** findings from the experiment support the suggested system’s validity,as it achieved class recognition accuracies of 89%,83%,and 90.30% on the MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 datasets,respectively.

Water resource management worldwide faces significant challenges, including high consumption rates, scarcity, and ageing infrastructure. This paper proposes a comprehensive approach to address these issues through five key solutions. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) first facilitates real-time data collection and consumer awareness campaigns. Secondly, wastewater recycling and reuse are promoted by upgrading wastewater treatment plants and fostering public-private partnerships. Thirdly, reducing network losses is achieved through leak detection systems and regular maintenance. Fourthly, policy enhancement and regulatory frameworks are strengthened by implementing regulations for new developments and incentives for water-saving technologies. Lastly, community engagement and education initiatives are undertaken to promote sustainable water practices. This multifaceted strategy aims to improve water conservation, efficiency, and resilience of the water supply system. This paper proposes solutions that can be applied to the Madinah AL Munawara region of Saudi Arabia, an area of utmost importance, demonstrating the applicability and effectiveness of these solutions in addressing regional water management challenges. © The Author(’s).

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

Advancing Bankruptcy Forecasting With Hybrid Machine Learning Techniques: Insights From an Unbalanced Polish Dataset

The challenge of bankruptcy prediction, critical for averting financial sector losses, is amplified by the prevalence of imbalanced datasets, which often skew prediction models. Addressing this, our study introduces the innovative hybrid model XGBoost+ANN, designed to leverage the strengths of both ensemble learning and artificial neural networks. This model integrates a comprehensive set of features with parameters optimized through genetic algorithms, eschewing traditional feature selection approaches. Our research focuses on an unbalanced dataset of Polish companies and reveals that the XGBoost+ANN model, in particular, exhibits outstanding performance. Optimized using genetic algorithms and without feature selection, this model achieved the highest AUC (0.958), sensitivity (0.752), and accuracy (0.983) scores, surpassing other models in our study. This remarkable outperformance, along with the robust results, marks a substantial advancement in the field of bankruptcy prediction. It underscores the efficacy of our approach in addressing the persistent challenge of data imbalance, offering a more reliable and accurate solution for financial risk assessment. © 2013 IEEE.

A systematic Literature Review on the Security Attacks and Countermeasures Used in Graphical Passwords

This systematic literature review delves into the dynamic realm of graphical passwords, focusing on the myriad security attacks they face and the diverse countermeasures devised to mitigate these threats. The core objective of this paper is to identify existing security threats to graphical password schemes and the corresponding countermeasures developed to mitigate these attacks. The study process begins by identifying the usable databases and search engines to identify all the relevant resources. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were carefully selected to prioritize the study, focusing mostly on attacks and countermeasures related to graphical password schemes between 2009 and 2023. After thorough identification and selection progress, 59 studies met all the criteria. Among these studies, 47 mentioned shoulder surfing as a threat to graphical password schemes, while 20 discussed brute force attacks. Additionally, there were 21 papers on dictionary attacks, 13 on smudge attacks, spyware attacks, and social engineering, and 19 that discussed guessing attacks as threats to graphical password schemes. Furthermore, the papers identified several other attacks, including frequency of occurrence analysis attacks, video recording, eavesdropping, computer vision, sonar, and image gallery attacks, with the corresponding numbers of papers being 9, 17, 5, 2, 2, and 1, respectively. The results also highlight the countermeasures proposed in the study papers to mitigate the aforementioned attacks. Among the various countermeasures identified, most revolve around randomization, obfuscation, and password space complexity as the most commonly used techniques for enhancing the security of graphical password schemes. © 2013 IEEE.
