Drying has been an eco-friendly and cost-efficient method to reduce post-harvest losses of agricultural crops. In various countries, the technique has been widely utilized in the form of Solar Dryer Dome (SDD) buildings. Accurate indoor microclimate forecasting is very important to implement smart control systems in SDDs that can maintain the ideal conditions, as the availability of solar energy is limited only at daytimes and the temperature may drop significantly during nighttimes in remote areas. The microclimate variables that play an important role in maintaining ideal environmental conditions include temperature and relative humidity. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Efficient and secure semi-quantum private comparison protocol using three-particle GHZ-like states against participant attack

This study identifies a participant attack vulnerability in Li et al.'s SQPC protocol. The participant attack allows a malicious participant, Bob, to obtain the participant Alice's secret information by intercepting and measuring photons sent to Alice, and later decrypting Alice's encrypted comparison result. An improved SQPC protocol is proposed to address this problem. The key enhancement is introducing a mutual eavesdropping check requiring the third party and participants to verify they obtain the same photon measurement results. This enables detecting participant attacks like the one identified. The SQPC protocol proposed in this study not only withstands attacks from internal participants but also achieves quantum efficiency almost equivalent to Li et al.'s SQPC protocol. Thus, this study presents a more secure SQPC protocol without compromising quantum efficiency. © 2024 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Recognizing the tremendous improvements that the integration of generative AI can bring to intelligent transportation systems, this article explores the integration of generative AI technologies in vehicular networks, focusing on their potential applications and challenges. Generative AI, with its capabilities of generating realistic data and facilitating advanced decision-making processes, enhances various applications when combined with vehicular networks, such as navigation optimization, traffic prediction, data generation, and evaluation. Despite these promising applications, the integration of generative AI with vehicular networks faces several challenges, such as real-time data processing and decision-making, adapting to dynamic and unpredictable environments, as well as privacy and security concerns. To address these challenges, we propose a multi-modality semantic-aware framework to enhance the service quality of generative AI. By leveraging multi-modal and semantic communication technologies, the framework enables the use of text and image data for creating multi-modal content, providing more reliable guidance to receiving vehicles and ultimately improving system usability and efficiency. To further improve the reliability and efficiency of information transmission and reconstruction within the framework, taking generative AI-enabled vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) as a case study, a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based approach is proposed for resource allocation. Finally, we discuss potential research directions and anticipated advancements in the field of generative AI-enabled vehicular networks. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Efficient Bitcoin Address Classification Using Quantum-Inspired Feature Selection

Over 900 million Bitcoin transactions have been recorded, posing considerable challenges for machine learning regarding computation time and maintaining prediction accuracy. We propose an innovative approach using quantum-inspired algorithms implemented with Simulated Annealing and Quantum Annealing to address the challenge of local minima in solution spaces. This method efficiently identifies key features linked to mixer addresses, significantly reducing model training time. By categorizing Bitcoin addresses into six classes—exchanges, faucets, gambling, marketplaces, mixers, and mining pools—and applying supervised learning methods, our results demonstrate that feature selection with SA reduced training time by 30.3% compared to using all features in a random forest model while maintaining a 91% F1-score for mixer addresses. This highlights the potential of quantum-inspired algorithms to swiftly and accurately identify high-risk Bitcoin addresses based on transaction features. © 2024, CC BY.

N4-methylcytosine (4mC) is a modified form of cytosine found in DNA, contributing to epigenetic regulation. It exists in various genomes, including the Rosaceae family encompassing significant fruit crops like apples, cherries, and roses. Previous investigations have examined the distribution and functional implications of 4mC sites within the Rosaceae genome, focusing on their potential roles in gene expression regulation, environmental adaptation, and evolution. This research aims to improve the accuracy of predicting 4mC sites within the genome of Fragaria vesca, a Rosaceae plant species. Building upon the original 4mc-w2vec method, which combines word embedding processing and a convolutional neural network (CNN), we have incorporated additional feature encoding techniques and leveraged pre-trained natural language processing (NLP) models with different deep learning architectures including different forms of CNN, recurrent neural networks (RNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). Our assessments have shown that the best model is derived from a CNN model using fastText encoding. This model demonstrates enhanced performance, achieving a sensitivity of 0.909, specificity of 0.77, and accuracy of 0.879 on an independent dataset. Furthermore, our model surpasses previously published works on the same dataset, thus showcasing its superior predictive capabilities. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Until the present moment, most of the medical records are only stored in hospitals. The hospital systems are still in Electronic Medical Records and haven’t developed into Personal Health Records yet to let people manage their own health records. If there is no medical record exchange between hospitals, it may cause a lot of medical resources waste and medical problems. The medical data cannot be exchanged smoothly because of different data standards, data inconsistency, and privacy of patient data. However, Blockchain technology can solve data consistency problems, privacy issues, and centralization problems. So use Blockchain technology to establish a PHR system that people can manage by themselves and use FHIR of National Medical information Standard as the data format. People can share their PHR with doctors at any time and at any place, and doctors can give a more appropriate and accurate diagnosis. We use Ethereum’s private Blockchain. The system encrypts the PHR with an asymmetric key and then uses the Hash function to generate a hash value and write them into the block to ensure data consistency and security. The proportion of China’s 65-year-old population has increased year by year. As we enter old age, people’s average life expectancy increases year by year. The risk of disease in the elderly population increases. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan, most people over the age of 65 suffer from cancer and heart disease. Pneumonia, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes. With medical advancement, more and more disease characteristics can be found in medical imaging. With the development of technology, the higher the resolution of the image, the more information that can be contained, and the doctor will spend more time marking and diagnosing. There is currently no open imaging training and recognition platform for users to use, so this study uses deep learning CNN technology to construct an image analysis and recognition platform with analysis and recognition interface. The Mekong River Basin (MRB) is crucial for the livelihoods of over 60 million people across six Southeast Asian countries. Understanding long-term sediment changes is crucial for management and contingency plans, but the sediment concentration data in the MRB are extremely sporadic, making analysis challenging. This study focuses on reconstructing long-term suspended sediment concentration (SSC) data using a novel semi-supervised machine learning (ML) model. The key idea of this approach is to exploit abundant available hydroclimate data to reduce training overfitting rather than solely relying on sediment concentration data, thus enhancing the accuracy of the employed ML models. Extensive experiments on daily hydroclimate and SSC data obtained from 1979 to 2019 at the three main stations (i.e., Chiang Saen, Nong Khai, and Mukdahan) are conducted to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art supervised techniques (i.e., Random Forest, XGBoost, CatBoost, MLP, CNN, and LSTM), and surpasses existing semi-supervised methods (i.e., CoReg, ⊓ Model, ICT, and Mean Teacher). This approach is the first semi-supervised method to reconstruct sediment data in the field and has the potential for broader application in other river systems. © 2024 The Author(s)

FinGAT: Financial graph attention networks for recommending top-K profitable stocks

Financial technology (FinTech) has drawn much attention among investors and companies. While conventional stock analysis in FinTech targets at predicting stock prices, less effort is made for profitable stock recommendation. Besides, in existing approaches on modeling time series of stock prices, the relationships among stocks and sectors (i.e., categories of stocks) are either neglected or pre-defined. Ignoring stock relationships will miss the information shared between stocks while using pre-defined relationships cannot depict the latent interactions or influence of stock prices between stocks. In this work, we aim at recommending the top-K profitable stocks in terms of return ratio using time series of stock prices and sector information. We propose a novel deep learning-based model, Financial Graph Attention networks (FinGAT), to tackle the task under the setting that no pre-defined relationships between stocks are given. The idea of FinGAT is three-fold. First, we devise a hierarchical learning component to learn short-term and long-term sequential patterns from stock time series. Second, a fully-connected graph between stocks and a fully-connected graph between sectors are constructed, along with graph attention networks, to learn the latent interactions among stocks and sectors. Third, a multi-task objective is devised to jointly recommend the profitable stocks and predict the stock movement. Experiments conducted on Taiwan Stock, S&P 500, and NASDAQ datasets exhibit remarkable recommendation performance of our FinGAT, comparing to state-of-the-art methods. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. The measurement property of the six-particle maximally entangled state was used by Sun [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 37, 2250149 (2022)] to design a quantum private comparison (QPC) protocol. However, this study points out that the entanglement property of the six-particle maximally entangled state is inconsequential as a security measure;that is, participants waste resources to store the entanglement state and perform the Bell measurement without obtaining any additional security advantage. Although a third party (TP) cannot obtain information regarding the participants' secret messages through an attack, an attack renders the six-particle entanglement redundant. Accordingly, this study proposed an improved QPC protocol to prevent third-party attacks. © 2023 World Scientific Publishing Company.
