In this demonstration paper, we present an indoor positioning system developed for Android smartphones, coined Airplace. To infer the unknown user location we rely on ubiquitous WLANs and exploit Received Signal Strength (RSS) values from neighboring Access Points (AP) that are constantly monitored by the mobile devices under normal operation. Our system follows a mobile-based network-assisted architecture to eliminate the communication overhead and respect user privacy. In a typical scenario, when a user walks inside a building a smartphone client conducts a single communication with our Distribution Server to receive the RSS radiomap and is then able to position itself independently using the observed RSS values. Moreover, we have implemented an Android application to facilitate the collection of RSS values by users that may contribute their data to our system for constructing and updating the radiomap through crowdsourcing1. We will demonstrate the real-time positioning capabilities of the system during the conference by allowing attendees to carry an Android tablet in order to view their position on a floorplan map, while walking around inside the demo area (interactive scenario). Moreover, we will illustrate how to evaluate the performance of different positioning algorithms using profiled data in a trace-driven scenario. Our objective is to highlight the effectiveness and applicability of our system and at the same time the participants will be able to appreciate the potential of indoor location-oriented services and applications. © 2012 IEEE.

Weighted vertex cover(WVC)is one of the most important combinatorial optimization *** this paper,we provide a new game optimization to achieve efficiency and time of solutions for the WVC problem of weighted *** first model the WVC problem as a general game on weighted *** the framework of a game,we newly define several cover states to describe the WVC ***,we reveal the relationship among these cover states of the weighted network and the strict Nash equilibriums(SNEs)of the ***,we propose a game-based asynchronous algorithm(GAA),which can theoretically guarantee that all cover states of vertices converging in an SNE with polynomial ***,we improve the GAA by adding 2-hop and 3-hop adjustment mechanisms,termed the improved game-based asynchronous algorithm(IGAA),in which we prove that it can obtain a better solution to the WVC problem than using a the ***,numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed IGAA can obtain a better approximate solution in promising computation time compared with the existing representative algorithms.

The security of drinking water distribution operation is an important issue that has received increased interest within the last few years. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued guidelines for water utilities regarding which qualitative and quantitative metrics to monitor, as well as what response actions to take from the moment a contamination fault alarm has been triggered, until the fault has been accommodated and the system has returned to normal operation. "Expanded Sampling" is a type of response action, in which the water utilities examine the water quality at certain locations in the network after a contamination fault has been detected, to help evaluate the contamination impact and locate the source-area. In this framework, fixed quality sensors are used to detect the presence of any contaminant in the network, while and manual quality samplings are used for fault isolation and impact evaluation. In this work, a computational approach is proposed for choosing a sequence of nodes in the distribution network to perform expanded sampling, so that the water contamination impact is evaluated and the source-area is isolated, with as few manual quality samplings as possible and by minimizing the impact-risk. The proposed method is based on constructing a decision tree using multiple objectives. To illustrate the solution methodology, results are presented based on a water distribution system. © 2011 IFAC.

Contaminant detection in urban water distribution networks using chlorine measurements

In this work we present a contamination detection methodology for water distribution networks. The proposed detection method is based on chlorine sensor measurements, which are compare to certain computed upper and lower periodic bounds. The bounds are computed using randomized simulations aimed at capturing the variations in chlorine concentration due to the significant uncertainty in the water demand patterns, average nodal consumptions, roughness parameters and reaction coefficients. The proposed method is applied to a set of high-impact contamination fault scenarios using a benchmark distribution network, for which on-line chlorine concentration sensors are assumed to have been installed at certain locations following an optimization procedure. The results indicate that by using the periodic bounds computed from the randomized simulations, for the proposed benchmark, contamination events are detected within reasonable time. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

The paper is devoted to the issues of equivalent transformation of the FPGA program code in order to protect the integrity of this code. The paper considers an approach in which a digital watermark is covertly embedding into the FPGA program code. This digital watermark contains the monitoring data needed to implement the code integrity monitoring procedure. As a result, the digital watermark is hidden in the program code and forms a single whole with the program code. The embedded digital watermark does not change the characteristics of the device and does not make changes to its operation. Due to this approach, the fact of performing integrity monitoring in relation to program code is not obvious to an external observer. At the same time, monitoring data is also hidden and inaccessible. The paper proposes a method that improves integrity monitoring by jointly perform two processes: embedding secret additional data into the FPGA program code and obfuscating this program code. Moreover, both of these processes are proposed to be performed using one common system of equivalent transformations for the elementary units of the FPGA program code. Improved integrity monitoring is seen in the fact that the probability of detecting a digital watermark in FPGA program code is reduced. The paper describes an experiment showing the advantage of the proposed method over existing methods. The paper also provides recommendations on the possibility of using the method in areas that are related to the task of monitoring the integrity for FPGA program code. © 2020 IEEE.

A Novel Forwarding Method for Full-Duplex Two-Way Relay networks

An estimate-and-forward(EF) scheme for single-input single-output(SISO) and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) full-duplex two-way relay networks is proposed and analyzed. The relay estimates the received signal from two terminal nodes by a minimum mean squared error(MMSE) estimation and forwards a scaled version of the MMSE estimate to the destination. The proposed EF outperforms conventional amplify-and-forward(AF) and decode-and-forward(DF) across all signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) region. Because its computational complexity is high for relays with a large number of antennas(large MIMO) and/or high order constellations, an approximate EF scheme, called list EF, are thus proposed to reduce the computational complexity. The proposed list EF computes a candidate list for the MMSE estimate by using a sphere decoder, and it approaches the performance of the exact EF relay at a negligible performance loss. The proposed forwarding approach also could be used to other relay networks, such as half-duplex, one-way or massive MIMO relay networks.

The paper deals with monitoring the program code integrity of FPGA-based systems. An approach to the integrity monitoring considered in the paper is based on embedding the digital watermark into the information object of FPGA chips program code. A digital watermark, which is embedded into the program code, contains a monitoring hash sum. Such kind of embedding does not change the program code size and operation of device, which is programmed with the help of this program code. In using this approach the integrity monitoring is provided by the condition that the digital watermark extraction and the recovery of initial state of program code information object occur simultaneously. In the paper a method, which allows increasing the embedded digital watermark effective volume, is proposed. Increasing the effective volume of the digital watermark gives the possibility to use a broader set of hash functions to monitoring the integrity. This allows using the hash functions possessing a big cryptographically strong in the process of the integrity monitoring. Increasing the effective volume is achieved due to the preliminary preparation of the FPGA program code information object, which (preparation)is performed before the embedding of digital watermark. In the course of this preparation the information object bits set by the embedding key are led to some predetermined state. In the paper an experimental research of the proposed method efficiency in the point of increasing the effective volume of the digital watermark is presented. © 2019 IEEE.

The paper addresses the challenges of developing models that are important for increasing the level of IT security culture in the field of safety-related applications. Models of resource-based approach and peculiarities of their integration into natural world in accordance with vector and levels of resource development are considered. Safety-related systems are analyzed from the position of checkability of digital components and accumulation of hidden faults, which reduce fault tolerance of circuits in emergency mode. The problem of hidden faults was identified as a growth challenge with appropriate ways to address it, including virus epidemics and Covid-19. Case studies of the development of models within the framework of European educational projects aimed at improving the level of culture in IT security are shown. © 2020 IEEE.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of computer models and methods that dynamically evolve and therefore allow tracing certain patterns in their development. The considered examples of evolution testify to the objective processes of their integration into the natural world by structuring for its parallelism and fuzziness. These beacons determine the vector of resilient development, which is shown for the model of number, arithmetic operations, calculation results, on-line testing of digital circuits, safety-related systems and their problems from the standpoint of a resource-based approach. The mechanism of development of computer models by diversifying their concepts is shown. An example of the development of a circuit solution in its on-line testing based on the diversification of the values of the calculated results is given. Comparison of the obtained solutions, analyzed within the framework of the model of exact and approximate data, is carried out. © 2021 IEEE.

Perspective distributed information systems (DIS), along with the often present property of criticality of use, increasingly possess the agent properties of autonomy, mobility, intelligence, cooperativeness. Automated systems of technical diagnostics (ASTD) of such DIS in accordance with the first property should ensure their complete real-Time testing, and for both static hardware-software and information environment of DIS placement, and for a dynamic set of information-control flows corresponding to the main functions and scenarios of her work, that is, her behavior. DIS agent properties only increase the need and deepen the content of testing this behavioral DIS model by ASTD. This paper discusses a complex model of behavioral check for DIS components, in particular, for cooperativeness of agents, based on a multidimensional, multi-level, heterogeneous and multipurpose structure of their behavioral interactions. In accordance with this, both within each level, and between the levels of the near circle (adjacent) and the far circle (connected by one or more intermediate levels), behavior check and recognition are performed for input models of the automaton class. The check model has features, firstly, determining the structure of identifiers, atomic and compositional checks, corresponding to the multidimensional and multilevel structure of behavioral interactions;secondly, the signatures of special operations and relations of cooperation for these checks;thirdly, the basic laws of reception/transfer, transformation, inheritance, encapsulation, preservation/ /accumulation. The behavioral check model allows defining the basic conditions for constructing multi-level DIS verification methods, reducing the time and resource costs due to decomposition of the check analysis, in particular, multi-Agent hierarchical, which is important for real-Time verification. © 2019 IEEE.
