The telecommunication industry saw a dramatic shift with the introduction of 5G technologies. This new cellular generation brought lightening speed, massive capacity, and better connectivity. Despite the many introduced opportunities, several challenges emerge at the same time, especially in the field of performance assurance. An example of such challenges is the rapid identification of network anomalies, which is critical for maintaining network performance and ensuring user satisfaction. Traditional techniques of detecting anomalies have fallen short given the unique operating requirements of 5G networks. To address this issue, this paper presents a novel technique applying deep learning for the detection of cellular network anomalies. Specifically, we leverage and exploit the capabilities of several Long-Short-Term-Memory (LSTM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) flavors, such as LSTM with ANN and Bidirection-LSTM (BiLSTM) with ANN, to excel at identifying network anomalies for the preservation and efficiency of 5G networks. Our work includes extensive experimentation and the attained results show that our proposed models are overwhelmingly adapting to preserving the integrity of the network in the fast-paced, ever-changing realm of cellular networks. © 2024 IEEE.

As the network infrastructure grows, its configuration and service provisioning become a tedious process. Accordingly, new paradigms have emerged, such as the Intent-Based Networking (IBN), that envision the automation of the network configuration, while minimizing the human intervention. Specifically, IBN allows users to interact with the network through high-level and declarative requests, called intents, which later can be translated into low-level configurations. IBN can entail different scopes and target network infrastructures, while being domain specific, which can create several challenges in terms of the final activation of the requested intents. To this end, in this paper, we mainly focus on intents that are expressing security and Quality of Service (QoS) network services demands that can be translated into Service Function Chains (SFC) and automatically deployed over a campus network. Our work and depending on the security level expressed in the intent, tries to optimally decide the level of multi-tenancy or complete segregation of the users' services that can be achieved, while satisfying the network provider's objectives. In particular, an artificial intelligence inspired algorithm called Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is modeled that automatically tries to find the best placement of the intents, while satisfying the security and QoS requirements of the users issuing the intents. © 2023 IEEE.

Twitter (now X) has been gaining popularity with each passing day since its inception in 2006. People have been using Twitter as an instant repository to collect data and gain insight into folks' minds on trending issues. Although Twitter allows access to its data through streaming and rest APIs, extracting the required data is difficult. The data (tweet) returned by Twitter is in json format, having at least 26 fields. Each field is bundled in the dictionary form data structure. tweet metadata such as tweet 'likes' and 'retweets' increase the volume and complexity of a tweet, making data extraction in a cleaner format more difficult. This work aims to develop an effective two-step tweet extractor (Xtractor: an online-offline keyword-based Twitter data extractor). In the first step, Xtractor collects publicly available topical tweets using keywords, hashtags, or their list on the fly, parses all the tweet fields, and filters them to retain potential field contents without additional payload. The second step of the Xtractor evicts partially matching tweets using the regular expression method to acquire the targeted domain-specific tweets. Using the proposed two-step Twitter data extraction method, datasets concerning the people of Pakistan have been collected, which can be leveraged to get insight for decision-making, specially in the context of sentiment analysis. We found this method efficient, capacitive, and productive. © 2024 IEEE.

Robust steganographic approach using generative adversarial network and compressive autoencoder

Nowadays, social media applications and websites have become a crucial part of people’s lives;for sharing their moments, contacting their families and friends, or even for their jobs. However, the fact that these valuable data are transferred via the Internet and open channels, which are vulnerable to attacks and espionage, requires using defense methods to improve the security of data transmission. Recently, the progress of Deep Learning (DL) inspired researchers to use it with security methods such as steganography, the art of hiding secret data in unrelated content. DL and steganography combined enhanced the hiding properties, especially in the Coverless Image Steganography (CIS) methods. In this paper, we propose a Compressive Coverless Image Steganography (CCIS) model, which is a generated-based CIS, to improve the capacity and robustness of Steganography. This model uses the compressive autoencoder to compress the message, thus increasing the capacity, and uses the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to generate a stego image from the compressed vector, thus enhancing concealment ability, besides using a regression model and optimization method to extract the data. Another version was designed to enable sending binary messages by replacing the compressive autoencoder network with a robust mapping rule. Experiments show that the proposed model could improve the characteristics of Steganography. Furthermore, the proposed model could extract binary messages with 256 bits from attacked stego images with 99% recovery accuracy. Thus, capacity and robustness were enhanced using our model with both images and text as secret messages. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper proposes an innovative decision support system based on sentiment analysis, specifically designed for the transportation sector. The system employs an aspect-based sentiment analysis approach, which accurately identifies and classifies customer opinions on key transportation service aspects such as comfort, driver behavior, punctuality, and vehicle condition. By integrating the BERT model, known for its advanced natural language processing capabilities, our system provides an in-depth and reliable analysis of customer sentiments. This analysis enables managers and decision-makers to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the provided transportation services and to precisely target areas that require improvement. By offering actionable insights, our approach aims to enhance the user experience, improve service quality, and increase overall customer satisfaction. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of smart systems is fundamental to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations, by exploiting technologies such as Recommender systems (RS) and Decision Support systems (DSS). In this article, we propose an approach based on Model-Driven engineering (MDE) for the creation of a software factory dedicated to the design of RS and DSS for tourism destination managers. This software factory is based on two main assets: a Domain-Specific Language (DSL) for recommendation systems and another DSL for decision support systems. The main aim of this approach is to reduce the complexity and development time of this type of application. © 2024 IEEE.

Graph neural networks(GNNs)have achieved state-of-the-art performance on graph classification tasks,which aim to pre-dict the class labels of entire graphs and have widespread ***,existing GNN based methods for graph classification are data-hungry and ignore the fact that labeling graph examples is extremely expensive due to the intrinsic *** import-antly,real-world graph data are often scattered in different *** by these observations,this article presents federated collaborative graph neural networks for few-shot graph classification,termed *** its owned graph examples,each client first trains two branches to collaboratively characterize each graph from different views and obtains a high-quality local few-shot graph learn-ing model that can generalize to novel categories not seen while *** each branch,initial graph embeddings are extracted by any GNN and the relation information among graph examples is incorporated to produce refined graph representations via relation aggrega-tion layers for few-shot graph classification,which can reduce over-fitting while learning with scarce labeled graph ***,multiple clients owning graph data unitedly train the few-shot graph classification models with better generalization ability and effect-ively tackle the graph data island *** experimental results on few-shot graph classification benchmarks demonstrate the ef-fectiveness and superiority of our proposed framework.

The development of Decision Support systems (DSS) for several companies operating in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, or others, presents significant challenges due to the nature of their multi-component architecture. A typical DSS consists of a data component, a model component incorporating machine learning and deep learning techniques, and a user interface component, each one requires diverse technologies. This complexity increases development time and effort, hindering the efficient design of DSS tailored to specific domains like tourism, where real-time decision-making is essential. One promising approach to overcome these challenges is the use of Domain-Specific languages (DSLs). DSLs allow developers to model and generate code more efficiently by providing high-level abstractions suited to the domain. By leveraging DSLs, it is possible to simplify the design process and automate the generation of code or parts of the DSS, thereby reducing the overall complexity and time required for development. This paper proposes a metamodel for designing DSS, specifically for the Smart Tourism sector. The metamodel serves as a foundation for the creation of DSL. The goal is to provide a solution to facilitate the development of DSS for the demands of tourism. The paper outlines the key concepts, approach, and results, presenting the first element of the proposed DSL which is the metamodel capturing the essential components and relationships for DSS in Smart Tourism. © 2024 IEEE.

Skin cancer detection with MobileNet-based transfer learning and MixNets for enhanced diagnosis

Skin cancer poses a significant health hazard, necessitating the utilization of advanced diagnostic methodologies to facilitate timely detection, owing to its escalating prevalence in recent years. This paper proposes a novel approach to tackle the issue by introducing a method for detecting skin cancer that uses MixNets to enhance diagnosis and leverages mobile network-based transfer learning. Skin cancer has diverse forms, each distinguishable by its structural attributes, morphological characteristics, texture, and coloration. The pressing demand for accurate and efficient diagnostic instruments has spurred the investigation of novel techniques. The present study utilizes the ISIC dataset, comprising a validation set of 660 images and a training set of 2637 images. Moreover, the research employs a combination of MixNets and mobile network-based transfer learning as its chosen approach. Transfer learning is a technique that leverages preexisting models to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of the proposed system. Integrating MobileNet and MixNets allows for utilizing their respective functionalities, resulting in a dual-model methodology that enhances the comprehensiveness of skin cancer diagnosis. The results demonstrate impressive performance metrics, with MobileNet and MixNets models, and the proposed approach achieves an outstanding accuracy rate of 99.58%. The above findings underscore the efficacy of the dual-model method in effectively discerning between benign and malignant skin lesions. Moreover, the present study aims to examine the potential integration of emerging technologies to enhance the accuracy and practicality of diagnostics within real-world healthcare settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
