This paper presents the communication related design considerations of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) aided Multi-Robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). In this approach, multiple robots perform WSN-aided cooperative SLAM using only range values to landmarks in the environment by measuring the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of the received radio messages, and odometry information. The SLAM algorithm proposed in this study uses the Rao-Blackwellized Particle Filters. In addition, the inherent communication problems in WSNs, and their effects on cooperative SLAM are explained in detail and shown with the results of The Network Simulator (ns-2) simulations.

This paper deals with finding optimal structures and redundant safety designs with minimal costs for series-Parallel multi state system (MSS) configurations subject to availability constraints using genetic algorithms as optimisation mean, since these biologically inspired evolution concepts showed stability, powerfulness, and effectiveness in solving such complex combinatorial optimisation tasks. The routine has been written in Matlab and the tests have been performed using some test data belonging to already existing models (Levitin, Lisnianski, and Ouzineb).

This paper describes the process of identifying the state of a computer system based on tracking changes in the file system under the condition that there is no reliable information about the state of objects in the external environment and the state of the system itself. In this case, the performance indicators of a computer system are random variables with unknown distribution laws. A method for identifying the state of the computer system based on tracking changes in the file system using classical discriminative analysis, taking into account the uncertainty of the input data, is proposed. For this purpose, a special method was developed for solving a fuzzy system of linear algebraic equations. The software was developed for tracking changes in the computer file system: creating, modifying, renaming, and deleting files and directories. The program also performs state classification based on a fuzzy discriminant classifier.

Faster R-CNN Deep Learning Model for Pedestrian Detection from Drone Images

Pedestrian detection from a drone-based images has many potential applications such as searching for missing persons, surveillance of illegal immigrants, and monitoring of critical infrastructure. However, it is considered as a very challenge computer vision problem due to the variations in camera point of view, distance from pedestrian, changes in illuminations and weather conditions, variation in the surrounding objects, as well as present of human-like objects. Recently, deep learning-based models are getting more attention, and they have proven a great success in many object detection problems such as the detection of faces, breast masses, and vehicles. As such, this work aims to develop a deep learning-based model that will be applied for the problem of pedestrian detection from a drone-based images. Particularly, faster region-based convolutional neural network (Faster R-CNN) will be used to search for the present of a pedestrian inside the captured drone-based images. To assess the performances, a total of 1500 images were collected by S30W drone and these images were captured at different places, with various views and weather conditions, and at daytime and night-time. Results show that Faster R-CNN was able to achieve a promising result with 98% precision, 99% recall, and 98% F1 measure. Further analysis has been conducted by comparing the outcomes of Faster R-CNN with YOLO deep model on UAV123 publicly available dataset. The reported results indicated that both detection models almost reported very similar results. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Nowadays, many major efforts and interests are focused on providing better services for some elders and patients who have to live alone, while they are exposed to different dangers during their daily life activities such as falling. The necessity to reduce the negative consequences of falling, whether related to physical or psychological health or to financial encumbrances, by providing an immediate help and a continuous remote monitoring, drives a corresponding meaning to develop a reasonable safety-related monitoring and detecting system of the human motion with respect to the privacy and the simplicity. In this paper, a conceptual prototype of safety-related platform for monitoring human activities by mean of limited number of acceleration and rotation sensors is presented. Additionally, the proposed approach that adopts the artificial neural networks to overcome the challenges emerged by reducing the number of motion sensors and to compensate the missing data is also introduced. Moreover, the required procedures for collecting training and testing data are also summarized in the last section.

Automatic evaluation of drawing-to-CAD conversion performance is addressed. The generating model of artificial images in the domain of cadastral maps was built. The proposed model was close to the authentic drawings on the level of graphic primitives and on the level of map understanding. The shape of the parcel was characterized by the number of corners, line lengths and respective angles. The model of a house consists of 12 random variables, while the 13th variable describes the location of the house in a parcel. The parameters of probability distributions have been estimated from the sample of 115 parcels and 127 houses. The goodness-of-fit for all distributions was very high.< >

The use of induction motors is widespread in industry. Many researchers have studied the condition monitoring and detecting the faults of induction motors at an early stage. Early detection of motor faults results in fast unscheduled maintenance. In this study, a new artificial immune based support vector machine algorithm is proposed for fault diagnosis of induction motors. Support vector machines (SVMs) have become one of the most popular classification methods in soft computing, recently. However, classification accuracy depends on kernel and penalty parameters. Artificial immune system has abilities of learning, memory and self adaptive control. The kernel and penalizes parameters of support vector machine are tuned using artificial immune system. The training data of support vector machine are extracted from three phase motor current. The new feature vector is constructed based on park's vector approach. The phase space of this feature vector is constructed using nonlinear time series analysis. Broken rotor bar and stator short circuit faults are classified in combined phase space using support vector machines. The experimental data are taken from a three phase induction motor. One, two and three broken rotor bar faults and 10% short circuit of stator faults are detected successfully.

This paper presents a multi-level approach for self-organization of in cyber-physical system resources. Cyber-physical system consists of physical part and cyber part. For implementation of joint actions by devices in physical part, they have to interact in cyber part. It is proposed to use the smart space technology for exchange information between these devices in cyber part of cyber-physical system. Smart Space -- is a computational environment consisting of multiple heterogeneous services (electronic and computational devices, Internet pages, data based, etc.) which has intelligent behavior, can proactively provide information taking into account current situation. Smart spaces allow unifying different levels of services, implement self-organization of services in each level, and providing politics from upper to lower level. Self-organization on every level is implemented based on ontology-based context management techniques and ontology matching method that provides semantic interoperability between interacted robots. Discussed in the paper case study solve the task of self-organization three types of robots based on politics from operation planning services and context situation in smart space. For the scenario implementation the Smart-M3 information sharing platform is used. It provides easy-to-use interfaces for information sharing through the RDF ontologies and publish / subscribe mechanism for connected services.

Cyber theft is a serious threat to Internet security. It is one of the major security concerns by both network service providers and Internet users. Though sensitive information can be encrypted when stored in non-volatile memory such as hard disks, for many e-commerce and network applications, sensitive information is often stored as plaintext in main memory. Documented and reported exploits facilitate an adversary stealing sensitive information from an application's memory. These exploits include illegitimate memory scan, information theft oriented buffer overflow, invalid pointer manipulation, integer overflow, password stealing Trojans and so forth. Today's computing system and its hardware cannot address these exploits effectively in a coherent way. This paper presents a unified and lightweight solution, called InfoShield that can strengthen application protection against theft of sensitive information such as passwords, encryption keys, and other private data with a minimal performance impact. Unlike prior whole memory encryption and information flow based efforts, InfoShield protects the usage of information. InfoShield ensures that sensitive data are used only as defined by application semantics, preventing misuse of information. Comparing with prior art, InfoShield handles a broader range of information theft scenarios in a unified framework with less overhead. Evaluation using popular network client-server applications shows that InfoShield is sound for practical use and incurs little performance loss because InfoShield only protects absolute, critical sensitive information. Based on the profiling results, only 0.3% of memory accesses and 0.2% of executed codes are affected by InfoShield.

A hybrid simulation for singularly perturbed system of two-point reaction-diffusion boundary-value problems

This study concerns with singularly perturbed systems of second-order reaction-diffusion equations in ODE's. To handle this type of problems, a numerical-asymptotic hybrid method is employed. In this hybrid method, an efficient asymptotic method, the so-called Successive complementary expansion method (SCEM) is applied first and then, a numerical method based on finite differences is proposed to approximate the solution of the corresponding singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion systems.
