Public safety management during protests is a critical issue requiring effective and efficient measures to minimise harm to law enforcement personnel and protesters. Our research introduces a faster variant of the You Only Look Once version 4 (YOLOv4) algorithm, specifically designed to identify objects frequently employed as weapons or for starting fires in public demonstrations and riots. We also developed a new dataset containing knives, swords, axes, stones, sticks, and objects commonly associated with arson. The proposed Accelerated YOLOv4 algorithm was trained and tested using the developed dataset. Its performance was compared to the standard YOLOv4 algorithm. The performance evaluation of the detection models showed that the Accelerated YOLOv4 model achieved higher precision scores than the YOLOv4 model for most objects. The mean average precision (mAP) of the Accelerated YOLOv4 model was 86%, which is higher than the mAP of the YOLOv4 model, which was 72%. These results indicate that the proposed Accelerated YOLOv4 algorithm can improve the effective management of public safety during protests. © 2023 IEEE.

Object detection in unconstrained environments could be defined as identifying objects captured in challenging environments like smoky, wild, and cloudy environments. Object detection is widely used in computer vision applications. It also has many applications in security surveillance, where we often have to deal with unconstrained environments. Several algorithms and techniques have been developed for object detection over the past years. Overall, object detection approaches can be divided into two main types: conventional computer vision-based approaches and modern deep learning-based computer vision approaches. This study reviews different methods and algorithms developed in recent years for object detection in constrained environments. Most object detection methods in constrained environments produce good performance. However, object detection in unconstrained environments is still an open problem that requires unique methods. So far, only a handful of approaches have been proposed. This study also presents future development trends and research directions for object detection in unconstrained environments to produce automated intelligence security surveillance. This review's main conclusion is that object detection in unconstrained environments needs to be improved and well-established using unique computer vision methods based on modern machine learning and deep learning technologies. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, online review plays crucial role in the modern consumer experience to provide the valuable insights into the performance and quality of the products and services. Most of the consumers take a decision about purchase of online product based on the reviews. In the view of customer all the reviews are genuine. But nowadays many of the businesses manipulated the reviews of their products by inserting the fake reviews to misleads the consumer to buy wrong product. There is a need of the effective mechanism which can identify the fake reviews and increases the trustworthiness of the online reviews. Many researchers working on the different techniques available in different domains such as Machine learning, NLP, Opinion Mining, etc. In this paper the fake reviews are identified using the random forest classifier along with different challenges identified for improvement. The amazon reviews dataset has been tested for 90000 reviews to achieves accuracy up to 79.47%.

This paper considers a downlink multiple access scenario with OFDM transmissions in frequency selective channels. The users are assigned with different bit streams from hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) rather than assigned with different subcarriers as in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). Based on statistical channel state information in the form of the average signal-to-noise ratios of the users, we derive a closed-form solution on the hierarchical constellation design. The numerical results demonstrate the performance advantage of the proposed system over OFDMA where power control is also applied based on the same channel feedback. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, the concept of DNA computing and 3-D chaotic system is implemented to maintain the security of grayscale image while transmitting through the publicly available network. Here, random selection technique for sequencing of DNA bases with secret key generated through chaotic sequence encryption technique is purposed. Generation of permutation box for diffusion of image pixels carried out on the basis of chaotic system, which create more randomness and difficult to retrieve the secret key and maintain confidentiality from the intruder. System parameter and initial values of chaotic system work as the private key. In this proposed concept, first, plain image is divided in to various block of 512 bit size and padding is necessary if the last block does not contain the block of 512 sizes and then data obtained from the blocks are XOR with the key value obtained through chaotic system. After that, results obtained from this operation are transformed in to the cipher image with using the concept of Central Dogma of Molecular Biology. Experimental result was thoroughly examined using various techniques including histogram analysis, chi-square test, information entropy assessment, differential attack and the result shows that the proposed concept is secure and maintain the randomness, confidentiality and integrity of image data.

Day by day, usage of social media is increasing amongst the users giving rise to certain issues which need attention. Since information can be shared across social media very quickly, it has become a popular medium of information sharing. Users use these platforms to share information to individuals, groups and to communities. As information is spread across social media platforms very quickly, misinformation also gets spread very quickly. Detecting fake contents is very important at the initial stage so that spread of fake information can be prevented. In existing research most of the research carried out is for English news. Very few researchers have attempted to develop a model for other languages. We present a machine learning solution for fake information identification for Hindi News articles. We carried out experiments on three datasets using various machine learning approaches such as Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Multinomial NB and Random Forest, these learners are used individually, and their performance is evaluated. Then we use these learners in stacking ensemble method and evaluated the performance. To extract features from news TF/IDF is used. Results show that RF performed well over all datasets as individual learner. Ensemble learning resulted in significant improvement in the performance over individual learners in all performance evaluation metrics. In some cases, results of LR are closer to that of RF.

Recent breakthroughs in computer vision have led to the invention of several intelligent systems in different sectors. In transportation, this advancement led to the possibility of proposing autonomous vehicles. This recent technology relies heavily on wireless sensors and Deep learning. For an autonomous vehicle to navigate safely on highways, the vehicle needs equipment to aid with detecting road anomalies such as potholes ahead of time. The massive improvement in computer vision models such as Deep Convolutional Neural networks (DCNN) or vision transformers (ViT) resulted in many success stories and tremendous breakthroughs in object detection tasks;this enabled the use of such models in different application areas. But many of the reported results are theoretical and unrealistic in real-life. Usually, the nature of these models is extensive;they are trained on High-performance computers or cloud computing environments with GPUs, which challenge their usage on edge devices. However, to come up with a light model that can fit into embedded devices, the model size has to be reduced significantly so that the performance will not be affected. Therefore, this paper proposes a lightweight model of pothole detection for an embedded device. The model achieved a state-of-the-art accuracy of 98%, with the number of parameters reduced to more than 70% compared with a deep CNN model;the model can be trained and deployed on embedded devices such as smartphones efficiently. © 2022 The authors and IOS Press. Nigeria's crop production is predominantly rainfed. However, some key agricultural regions in the country are tangling with issues of insecurity and insurgency. Given this, it has become prominent for agricultural stakeholders in the country to seek for alternative regions to boost and rehabilitate agricultural practices. One option to help the country's agricultural stakeholders produce alternatives is to model and anticipate rainfall in the country's stable regions. In this study, we put forth two modeling approaches that can take into consideration trends and seasonality in Nigeria's rainfall data. The proposed modeling approaches combine the classical-classical model with the classical-machine learning model. The machine learning model combines the artificial neural network, the polynomial, and the Fourier series fittings, whereas the classical-classical modeling approach combines the polynomial and the Fourier series fittings. The models are used to analyze the monthly rainfall data in a few chosen stable regions of Nigeria. Multi-step ahead forecasting using the results of the classical-machine learning model for all the chosen regions showed that starting in the threshold year, Kano, Zaria, Bida, and Nguru regions can expect an increase in rainfall over the next five years (2022-2026), while Yelwa is predicted to experience a decrease in rainfall for the first four years and an increase in rainfall only in the last year (2026). © 2022 IEEE.

With the rapid development of smart grid technology, a new challenge has been brought about by the massive data generated from distributed devices. Data aggregation technology plays a crucial role in smart grid schemes, in terms of energy data statistics and resource allocation. However, achieving fast error-checking and improving device fault-tolerance are still open issues in the smart grid data aggregation. To address these issues, this paper proposes an error-tolerant data aggregation scheme integrated with error-checking mechanisms. The scheme proposes a tree-based aggregation structure, facilitating swift error-checking of data. We combine masking values with user anonymity in the ElGamal cryptographic scheme to ensure the security of sensitive data and resist collusion attacks. Both theoretical and experimental analyses demonstrate that this scheme enables a lightweight, secure data aggregation, ensuring enhanced reliability and error-checking. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, linear and non-linear models are employed to model the Central Bank Rate (CBR), Deposit Interest Rate (DIR), Lending Rate (LER), and Treasury Bill Rate (TBR). The choice of variables is guided by the Fisher Equation (FE). The linear models range from Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Simple Linear Regression (SLR), Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model, Bayesian VAR (BVAR) to Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The nonlinear models include Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The results show that VECM outperforms other models in the testing sub-sample, while ANFIS produces the highest forecast accuracy in the training sub-sample. Ensembling the VECM and ANFIS produces the best forecast accuracy for both the sub-samples. The results of this study can serve as a reference for modeling interest rates and provide the benchmark for investment decisions and macroeconomic policy designs. © 2024 IEEE.
