This paper is concerned with a simultaneous design problems of structural and reduced-order H∞ control systems. The purpose of this paper is to propose an iterative approach to the simultaneous design problem, which constructs a sequence of infeasible controller variables The feature of our approach is that it is easy to choose an initial point which is needed to carry out the iterative approach. The efficiency of our approach is shown by a numerical example. © 2010 SICE.

Managing context in Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) environments is challenging due to environmental characteristics and limitations. Different aspects of context management such as location management, context acquisition, context quality management, context discovery and other related tasks need to be dealt with to provide reliable context management support. In this paper, we propose a new approach to context management in the MANET environments. We model contexts and situations based on Context Spaces (CS) theory and the Dempster-Shafer (DS) theory of evidences. A heuristic approach to computing the relevancy value of context information to the defined situation of context-aware applications is also proposed and developed. The relevancy value is then incorporated in the fusion mechanism based on the discount rule. We have developed a hybrid location model and integrated the approach to the model. The prototype of the framework is built based on the On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP) as the underlying messaging protocol among the collaborative hosts. Finally, the implementation and experimentation issues of the prototype are discussed. © 2010 ACM.

Wireless Sensor Networks for Rainfall Monitoring (RM-WSNs) is a sensor network for the large-scale regional and moving rainfall monitoring,which could be controlled deployment. Delivery delay and cross-cluster calculation leads to information inaccuracy by the existing dynamic collabo-rative self-organization algorithm in WSNs. In this letter,a Local Dynamic Cluster Self-organization algorithm (LDCS) is proposed for the large-scale regional and moving target monitoring in RM-WSNs. The algorithm utilizes the resource-rich node in WSNs as the cluster head,which processes target information obtained by sensor nodes in cluster. The cluster head shifts with the target moving in chance and re-groups a new cluster. The target information acquisition is limited in the dynamic cluster,which can reduce information across-clusters transfer delay and improve the real-time of information acquisition. The simulation results show that,LDCS can not only relieve the problem of "too frequent leader switches" in IDSQ,also make full use of the history monitoring information of target and con-tinuous monitoring of sensor nodes that failed in DCS.

Network emulation environment is great importance to the research of network protocols, applications and security mechanism. Large-scale network topology generation is one of key technologies to construct network emulation environment. In this paper, a new large-scale network topology generation framework called LSNTGF is proposed, which divides the network topology into three hierarchies: AS, router and terminal node. It contains the assignment mechanism to bandwidth of each link and IP address of each node. The framework is evaluate by implementation, and the result illustrate it is efficient to network emulation environment for network protocols and security research. © 2010 IEEE.

Web service combination,which integrates independent and modular distributed services,has loosely coupled,location transparent,protocol independent and other characteristics,but it is still lack of autonomic,self-adaptive and self-organized characteristics,and it’s difficult to deal with the complex,dynamic,open and uncertain Internet environment. A framework to improve composition adaptability of web services is proposed in the paper. This framework makes use of agents to supervise and manage service composition implementation. It can deal with various service failures,face different circumstances,and ultimately improve the adaptability of service composition in real-time context-aware style. To evaluate the proposed framework,the prototype implementation and data analysis are given at last.

Matchmaking is the basis of service discovery and composition. Using ontology semantically express the capabilities of services, accurately match, discovery and composition service. Domain ontologies and Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) aim at modeling concepts, the role of FCA in ontology engineering is supporting the critical task of reusing independently developed domain ontologies. Evaluating concept similarity identifies the different concepts that are semantically close. In this paper, using concept and attribute of Web services to construct the ontology. Also, an ontology-based method for assessing similarity between FCA concepts is proposed. Such a method is intended to support the ontology engineer in difficult activities such as ontology merging and ontology mapping in the development of the Semantic Web. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, a modified technique to prepare Pt-lr catalyst layer on the proton exchange membrane (PEM) surface using the impregnation-reduction (IR) method is proposed to improve the electrocatalytic activity as well as the life cycle of the bifunctional oxygen electrode (BOE). The resulted electrocatalysts were characterized by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Electron Probe Micro-Analysis (EPMA), and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The electrocatalytic properties of the Pt-lr layer on PEM surface for the oxygen reduction and water oxidation reactions as well as the life cycle of MEA were investigated. Experimental results showed that the Ir particles were dispersed densely in the platinum layer through the modified IR technique. The atomic ratio of Pt over Ir elements was 9.1, and the resulted thickness of the obtained Pt-lr catalyst layer was about 1.0 μm. The Pt-lr catalyst layer was composed of Pt layer doped with Ir nano-particles comprising nano Pt-lr alloy phase. The large surface area of Ir core with Pt shell particles and the presence of nano Pt-lr alloy phase led to a higher electrocatalytic activity of BOE. Due to the good binding between the Nafion® membrane and the Pt-lr alloy catalyst, as well as the composite structure of the resulted Pt-lr, the life cycle of Unitized Regenerative Fuel Cell (URFC) is improved through this novel BOE. © 2010 American Scientific Publishers.

This paper describes our research on learning browsing behavior model for predicting the current information need of a web user. This inference is based on a parameterized model of how the sequence of browsing behavior indicates the degree to which page content satisfies the user's information need, and the model parameters can be estimated using standard methods from a labelled corpus. Data from lab experiments demonstrate that the prediction model can effectively identify the information needs of new users, browsing previously unseen pages. The paper concludes with an overview of our WebIC which integrates the model into a web browser, to help the user find the relevant information effectively from the web. © 2010 IEEE.

In multicore environment, multithreading is often used to improve application performance. However, there are some unexpected anomalies which degrade the performance of multithreading applications. Some of the unexpected anomalies come from inappropriate thread dispatching by operating system. To solve this problem, a novel User Dispatching Mechanism (UDispatch) was proposed. Through modification of application source codes with the UDispatch application programming interface (API), the application performance can be improved significantly. However, most of the time, the application source codes are not available, or it might not be suitable to do the modification of source codes. Therefore, we provide another tool to dispatch threads without any modification of application source codes, called User Dispatching Plus (UDispatch +). It can bind the application threads automatically and dispatch to specific cores at the discretion of users. We experiment UDispatch+ on multithreading multimedia applications. The results show that a more parallelized skip-line application can speed up to 171.8% on a 4-core machine, and a more dependent optimized H.264/AVC decoder can speed up to 20.1% on a 4-core machine. ©2010 IEEE.

Many approaches for converting keyword queries to formal query languages are presented for natural language interfaces to ontologies. Some approaches present fixed formal query templates, so they lack in providing support with increasing number of words in the user query. Other approaches work on constructing Techniques are presented to perform operations by obtaining a reduced RDF graph but they limit the input to some type of resources so their complete complexity with all type of input resources is unknown. For formal query generation, we present a variable query template whose computation is facilitated by less complex and distributed RDF property and relation graphs. A prototype QuriOnto is developed to evaluate our design. The user can query QuriOnto with any number of words and resource types. Also, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first system that can handle quantitative restrictions with keyword queries. As QuriOnto has no support for semantic similarity at this time except for rdfs labels so its recall is low but high precision shows that the approach is promising for the generation of corresponding formal queries. © 2010 Asian Network for Scientific Information.
