Because it is almost impossible to train the dispatchers with real power system, the dispatcher training simulator (DTS) is used for the training. Among various components of the DTS, the power system model (PSM) emulates the dynamic behavior of the power system to calculate the frequency and voltage. In the PSM, the power plants are modeled as differential equations, so the mechanical power of the power plants is calculated by the numerical methods. Conventionally, the fixed step-size algorithm has been used in the PSM, however it has some drawbacks. This paper develops the prototype PSM using the Matlab, and analyzes the problems of the fixed step-size algorithm by comparing the results with those of PSCAD simulation considered as a real system. In order to overcome the limitations, the adaptive step size method for the PSM is proposed by modifying the general adaptive step size method. From the simulation using the proposed method, it is verified that the accuracy of the PSM is increased.

The InterMedia project aims at progressing towards user-centric convergence of multimedia, by putting the user at the center of services (multimedia applications), devices and interfaces for the interaction. One of the main implications of the user-centric approach is the seamless and secure access to content, regardless of the users' location and terminal device(s), which requires suitable solutions to manage mobility, context-awareness and digital rights. Under this respect this paper reviews the mechanisms developed within InterMedia to support the above issues, and discusses their integration in a common networking framework addressing a generic scenario for content access.

At-speed scan testing for intra-clock and inter-clock transition delay faults in a SOC design with multiple clock domains is an important and challenging issue. Current practice in industry usually applies a test scheme targeted on intra-clock transition fault delay testing (i.e., intra testing). In this paper a test scheme targeting both intra-clock and inter-clock domains for transition delay fault testing (i.e., intra-inter testing) is applied. This paper presents an empirical study by comparing between intra testing and intra-inter testing in terms of fault classification, test detection, test coverage, test volume, and test power by using industrial circuits. The information provided by this paper is beneficial to both practitioners and researchers in their pursuit of improving the quality of transition delay testing, which is critical to the quality of deep-sub micron VLSI chips.

With the spread use of the computers, a new crime space and method are presented for criminals. Thus computer evidence plays a key part in criminal cases. Traditional computer evidence searches require that the computer specialists know what is stored in the given computer. Binary-based information flow tracking which concerns the changes of control flow is an effective way to analyze the behavior of a program. The existing systems ignore the modifications of the data flow, which may be also a malicious behavior. Thus the function recognition is introduced to improve the information flow tracking. Function recognition is a helpful technique recognizing the function body from the software binary to analyze the binary code. And that no false positive and no false negative in our experiments strongly proves that our approach is effective.

Sensor network terminals are installed in large numbers in the field and transmit data periodically by radio. Such terminals must be miniaturized, and save power so that each device can operate by battery for several years. As one way to satisfy these two conditions, in this research we propose a terminal design which eliminates the receiver circuit. Because there is no receiver circuit, circuitry can be miniaturized, and power can be saved because there is no need to consume power to receive signals. However, the terminals cannot perform carrier detection and reception acknowledgement because there is no receiver circuit. We propose following two new protocols to solve this problem.

In recent years, dynamics model and control of space robot system are the hot topics in the research field. In this paper, a new dynamics model and control strategy of space robotic system with a flexible manipulator and a liquid fuel tank are investigated. Based on Lagrange equation method, the dynamics model of the space robotic system coupling with liquid sloshing, flexibility vibration and base movement is derived. The elastic deflection of the flexible manipulator is described by the assumed mode method and equivalent mechanical model is adopted instead of liquid sloshing under the environment of low-gravity. The inverse dynamics control algorithm combined with PD control method is performed to solve the trajectory tracking problem. Some simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Because of strong coupling, nonlinear, and time-varying characteristics, it is difficult to control complex spacecraft. By means of combining with controlled object dynamics and performance requirements, characteristic modeling and control approach is an effective way to solve this problem. Aimed at the flexible satellites described by using characteristic modeling approach, with the help of fuzzy rules, fuzzy dynamic characteristic modeling method and intelligent adaptive controller are designed to control this complex spacecraft. Meanwhile, based on the satellite system simulation platform, we validate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed modeling and control method by comparing with the simulation results of the other similar methods.

In this paper we consider passive airborne receivers that use backscattered signals from sources of opportunity transmitting fixed-frequency waveforms. Due to its combined passive synthetic aperture and the fixed-frequency nature of the transmitted waveforms, we refer to the system under consideration as Doppler Synthetic Aperture Hitchhiker (DSAH). We present a novel image formation method for DSAH. Our method first correlates the windowed signal obtained from one receiver with the windowed, filtered, scaled and translated version of the received signal from another receiver. This processing removes the transmitter related variables from the phase of the Fourier integral operator that maps the radiance of the scene to the correlated signal. We next use the microlocal analysis to reconstruct the scene radiance by the weighted-backprojection of the correlated signal. This imaging algorithm can put the visible edges of the scene radiance at the correct location, and under appropriate conditions, with correct strength. We show that the resolution of the image is directly related to the length of the support of the windowing function and the frequency of the transmitted waveform.
