Trajectory Based Operations (TBO) will require new procedures and systems to achieve a suitable automation of airtraffic operations. Procedures and systems for automated operations are closely related and therefore frequently they need to be modeled in a combined way. Our group is currently employing recent agent-oriented methodological approaches to obtain conceptual models about TBO scenarios. Conceptual models define roles of air traffic entities as well as their interactions together with a detailed description of the entities' architecture and dynamic behaviour. In this paper we present a cockpit functionality architecture built upon a methodological analysis and design of a TBO scenario as a multi-agent system. The proposed design has the advantage of mapping to an executable model for analytical simulation of TBO concepts and its modular architecture allows for a progressive integration of additional underlying models with specific functionalities.

In contrast with the simple and elegant concept of global computing, also called ubiquitous computing - where daily life objects get now computing capacity and interact among them to provide a wide range of services to users - a major difficulty is arising with the software engineering process to develop applications for these devices. This article discusses the additional parameters that should be taken into account when designing and developing software for ubiquitous devices in ad-hoc networks. In these networks the mobility of the devices could increase the complexity of the requirements to be considered. As a case study, we present a Bluetooth application that has been developed to fulfill a variety of established requirements. The application allows the creation of different types of networks for non-expert users thanks to the context aware capacity of Bluetooth.

Matrix-pattern-oriented Ho-Kashyap classifier has been demonstrated to have a superior classification performance to its vector classifier. However, it is found that the matrixized classifier takes a large computational complexity for convergence in some cases. To overcome the disadvantage, this paper introduces the early stopping technique into the matrixized Ho-Kashyap classifier and presents a matrix-pattern-oriented Ho-Kashyap classifier with early stopping named MatHKES. The presented MatHKES adopts early stopping as a new regularization technique instead of adding a regularization parameter in the criterion. The proposed algorithm achieves: 1) a less running time; 2) a competitive or better classification performance; 3) an avoidance of over fitting in training.

When a concurrent shared-memory program written with a sequential consistency (SC) model is run on a machine implemented with a relaxed consistency (RC) model, it could cause SC violations that are very hard to debug. To avoid such violations, programmers need to provide explicit synchronizations or insert fence instructions. In this paper, we propose a scheme to detect and eliminate potential SC violations by combining Shasha/Snir's conflict graph and delay set theory with existing data race detection techniques. For each execution, we generate a race graph, which contains the improperly synchronized conflict accesses, called race accesses, and race cycles formed with those accesses. As a race cycle would probably lead to a non-sequential-consistent execution, we call it a potential violation of sequential consistency (PVSC) bug. We then compute the race delays of race cycles, and suggest programmers to insert fences into source code to eliminate PVSC bugs. We further convert a race graph into a PC race graph, and improves cycle detection and race delay computation to O(n 2 ), where n is the number of race access instructions. We evaluate our approach with the SPLASH-2 benchmarks, two large real-world applications (MySQL and Apache), and several multi-threaded Cilk programs. The results show that (1) the proposed approach could effec-tively detect PVSC bugs in real-world applications with good scalability; (2) it retains most of the performance of the concurrent program after inserting required fence instructions, with less than 6.3% performance loss; and (3) the additional cost of our approach over traditional race detection techniques is quite low, with 3.3% on average.

In this paper, we propose a wireless transmission system for full specification high definition television. The proposed system employs the next generation wireless system based on IEEE802.11 TGac. It works on 5 GHz band with 80 MHz bandwidth and has throughput over 1.5 Gbps. In this system, a video data is compressed by JPEG 2000 with error resilience tools. These tools improve error performance against wireless channel, and enable very high throughput communication. computer simulation are used to evaluate the bit error performance's influences to the .video quality.

In this paper, we propose a 4 K digital cinema transmission over 1.2 Gbps wireless LAN system. The proposed system employs the next generation wireless LAN system based on IEEE802.11ac task group. It reaches more than 33 meter propagation distance by using 80 MHz of bandwidth on 5 GHz band. In this system, a video data is compressed by JPEG 2000 with error resilience tools. These tools improve error performance against wireless channel, and enable very high throughput communication. computer simulations are used to evaluate the bit error performance's influences to the video quality. In addition, we implement the proposed system using wired LAN under Windows XP operating system.

Today, consumers have been able to buy various items with development of e-commerce sites and so on, while it made difficult to find items suitable for the consumer's preference from many items. Because of such situation, recommendation systems that can present items suitable for user's preference have been required. When a person prefers an item, but hesitates what to do, it is an important criterion whether the person's desires is satisfied by the item or ***, we analyzed relationship between consumer's desires and preferred items by evaluation grid method, recommending items based on constructed evaluation grids. Moreover we investigated effectiveness of recommendation based on desires in our experiment and discussed about cross-category recommendation such as recommendation of item that have different attributes or categories.

Knee-related injuries including meniscal tears are common in both young athletes and the aging population, and require accurate diagnosis and surgical intervention when appropriate. With proper techniques and radiologists' experienced skills, confidence in detection of meniscal tears can be quite high. This paper develops a novel computer-aided detection (CAD) diagnostic system for automatic detection of meniscal tears in the knee. Evaluation of this CAD system using an archived database of images from 40 individuals with suspected knee injuries indicates that the sensitivity and specificity of the proposed CAD system are 83.87% and 75.19%, respectively, compared to the mean sensitivity and specificity of 77.41% and 81.39%, respectively, obtained by experienced radiologists in routine diagnosis without using the CAD. The experimental results suggest that the developed CAD system has great potential and promise in automatic detection of both simple and complex meniscal tears of the knee. © 2009 IEEE.

In ad hoc networks, when the load is heavy, the performance of on-demand routing protocols, such as DSR protocol, will suffer large degradation. For instance, the absence of balanced distribution of network flow among nodes in the whole network is highly prone to producing heavy-load key nodes. This results in fast energy consumption of these key nodes, and finally decreasing the survival time of the network caused by their premature failures. To address this problem, a novel algorithm called cross-layer based load balancing algorithm for DSR (CLB-DSR) is proposed. In CLB-DSR, the cross-layer strategy is adopted to exchange the information between data link layer and network layer. Simulation results show that the improved routing protocol using CLB-DSR can effectively balance network load, improve the network throughput and reduce the end-to-end delay, the rate of data dropped.
