A pipelined multi-lingual electronic dictionary (PMLeD) has been designed and implemented. Architecturally, it is a pipeline of four memory stages of which the first one is itself a pipelined version of a content-to-address-memory (CTAM) while the other three are traditional address-to-content memories (ATCM), namely, RAMs. The PMLeD is potentially capable of providing millions of word-by-word translations per second between an arbitrarily large number of languages but requires a highly expensive fully parallel design of the pipelined CTAM (PCTAM) stages for achieving this high throughput rate. The present design, which has been implemented and tested in the laboratory, has studied a cost-performance trade-off by designing each stage in the PCTAM with a byte-serial approach and implementing it employing a low-cost 8-bit microcontroller. The design has achieved a hefty reduction in cost and complexity at a considerable sacrifice in the throughput rate and marks a novel, simple and low-cost practical design approach to a pipelined associative memory

In this paper, we developed a terminology tagging system using knowledge in an encyclopedia on *** the encyclopedia we first of all, constructed a terminology tagged corpus. The terminology tag sets consist of category information of terminology and identification in the encyclopedia. The corpus was used to extract context rules and heuristic rules for terminology tagging system and to be as an answer set for evaluating the *** context rules and heuristic rules are automatically extracted from the terminology tagged corpus and heuristic rules according to the syntactic patterns and morphological characteristics. The terminology tagging system uses the context rules, heuristic rules and dictionary of postposition and ending of a word instead of morphological analyzer for faster *** terminology tagging system is evaluated using the tagged corpus and its precision is resulted in 98.0%.

Images recorded by a security camera have often severely degraded due to dirty lens or secular distortion of the recording system. To restore these images, the fully determination of space variant point spread function (PSF) is required. To measure PSF, we have proposed a method using a liquid crystal display, and shown some experimental results to restore the images by a CCD camera with intentionally distorted optics. However the previous results were not satisfactory due to the measurement error and noise contained in the measured PSF. In this paper, we propose some methods for reduction of the measurement error and noise in PSF, and show improved results of restoration.

Grid computing emerges as an effective technology to couple geographically distributed resources and solve large-scale computational problems in wide area networks. There are several popular grid platforms, such as UNICORE and Globus Toolkit. Many famous grid projects are constructed with these platforms, each of which manages different distributed resources. In order to aggregate resources managed by different grid platforms, it is necessary to implement the interoperation among these grid platforms. Security interoperation is one of key issues for the interoperation. CGSP (ChinaGrid Support Platform) and VEGA are two popular grid platforms in China. To achieve security interoperation between these two platforms, four mapping policies, including user-user mapping, user-agora mapping, role-user mapping, role-agora mapping, are proposed in this paper. The security interoperation process is proposed based on SAML specification and the mapping policies. We also analyze the flexibility of mapping policies and the security of the interoperation process.

A neural-adaptive control solution is exposed in this paper. The control strategy is based on the linear adaptive neuron, which is called ADALINE. Unlike other neural control solutions, based on perceptrons neurons characterized by a long time learning process and a difficult on-line tuning of weights, this approach uses a fast algorithm, which adapts on-line the neuron's weights. Therefore the non-linear character of control law is induced by the permanent changes of neuron weights, which are variable parameters of controller. A set of study cases is done, with application to the excitation control of a synchronous generator.

This paper presents issues regarding short term electric load forecasting using feedforward and Elman recurrent neural networks. The study cases were developed using measured data representing electrical energy consume from Banat area. There were considered 35 different types of structure for both feedforward and recurrent network cases. For each type of neural network structure were performed many trainings and best solution was selected. The issue of forecasting the load on short term is essential in the effective energetic consume management in an open market environment.

A new proposal of a very long instruction word (VLIW) architecture for application specific processors with the built-in-self-repair (BISR) facility realized by means of the variable accuracy arithmetic has been described in this paper. The proposed idea, which is particularly interesting for the portable embedded systems, is based on a novel two accumulator model, which is used in order to obtain high accuracy of the result of a series of floating-point additions. The goal of the proposed approach consists in ensuring the functionality of the system even in case of permanent faults of particular building blocks, e.g., of one of the floating point adders. Instead of decreasing the performance of the system or providing redundant hardware, as it is typically done in other approaches, in our present concept merely the accuracy of the floating point accumulation is reduced. Therefore, although the quality of service is reduced, the performance and the overall functionality of the system may remain unchanged. By this means we can also control the power consumption, saving the power with the cost of the somehow reduced signal processing accuracy.

Robots are complex systems that require multidisciplinary approach to development. Hence, both research and production of a robotic system require a tool that would provide means for coordination between teams with different areas of expertise as well as the ability to integrate, simulate and debug the system in a comprehensive way. Also, with the growing popularity of service robotics, research and modeling of human-machine interaction gains the attention. From a simulation tool, it is expected to support the means for describing this interaction. For that purpose we are investigating the ML Designer TM , not just as a possible simulation tool, but also as a modeling and design paradigm. For verification purposes we will compare it against MATLAB Simulink TM . A pneumatic system will be modeled with both tools and a comparison will be performed.

In this paper we will show how to obtain a better comprehension of the behavior of large and complex software systems using visualization and program animation. Use cases are used in the software development industry for the purpose of better understanding of software systems. The problem is that use cases for large and complex software systems are themselves large and complex. We have built a tool called Scenario Explorer to help the user handle this complexity by guiding him or her through the use cases. The user is provided with just enough information to comprehend the behavior of interest. Tools like this are crucial for developers that need to obtain a better comprehension of a whole software system, for example newcomers in a project or managers. ScenarioExplorer was built at Ericsson and applied to a subset of a large and complex software system.

Over the last few decades, complex networks have been intensively studied throughout many fields of science, especially in biological and engineering sciences. This paper briefly reviews the main advances in the complex biological and engineering networks, aiming to bridge the gap between the complex biological and engineering networks. Biologists pay more attention to the mechanisms and local dynamics of individuals, however, engineers are more interesting in the global dynamical behaviors. It is the time for the biologists and engineers to work together for better understanding the complex networks.
