This short note introduces a novel method for reducing the call dropping probability in a LEO satellite network by considering the gateway-satellite links and their terrestrial interconnection. Simulation tests were carried out in order to evaluate the performance of this scheme. The results show a considerable improvement when the network is congested.

In recent years Error Correction, Error Concealment, Error Control and Fairness techniques have been developed to counter the inevitable errors encountered on a non-ideal network. The Split-layer Video Multicast Protocol (SPLIT) has been uniquely designed to take advantages of these techniques. Its primary advantage is its ability to conserve bandwidth while maintaining a level of satisfactory quality. The basic principle is to conceal errors that are created by dropping a layer, due to network congestion and recovering the quality using already developed error concealment techniques. It is the intention of this paper to research and develop this integration of SPLIT with an established error concealment algorithm.

In addition, the listed species: lepidolite, illite, glauconite and brammalite, are more appropriately series names and series names should not be included under species. Both corrections are provided in the revised table below (Table 1). Other minor changes are given also.

This paper introduces a shared tree multicast filter that uses labels to create one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many communication on an existing multicast tree. All the receivers wishing to communicate privately will be connected virtually by a label to form a subtree within an existing multicast tree. The data packet is sent to the receivers on paths identified by the label. A label manager on the tree will create and manage these labels. This paper describes the benefits of using our filter architecture compared to creating a new multicast tree or using another proposed filter architecture.
